Russia Begins Operations in Syria: End Game for the US Empire?

First, Russia Blacklists George Soros Foundations for ‘Endangering National Security’ - Is Poland next?

Polish MP Demands ‘Pest’ Soros Is Stripped Of Country’s Highest Honor
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/09/21/polish-mp-demands-pest-soros-is-stripped-of-countrys-highest-honour/

The recent deterioration of George Soros’s public image has been astonishing. Following coverage of his subversive operations across the world – including his efforts to destabilize Poland – now even the establishment media have picked up on his destructive activities, with Bloomberg recently covering his plan to marginalize Israel.

Similarly, the list of Soros’s safe havens has also been shrinking dramatically.

Until recently, out of all the EU countries, only his native Hungary had the courage to suggest his carefully crafted image of ‘global philanthropist’ may be a smoke screen. The country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban pointed out that Soros is acting to destabilize Europe by supporting illegal migrants from the Middle East. Now his hold over Eastern Europe seems to be waning even further with Polish politicians also picking up on his suspicious activity.

Soros has really entrenched himself in Poland over the last three decades, having established the Stefan Batory Foundation (an off shoot of the Open Society Foundation) in Warsaw in 1988, which admittedly initially had some positive input in helping the Polish society out of the Communist sphere of influence.

Even though the more conservative element has always been suspicious of his real intentions, the ruling class has typically come out in his support, culminating in culminating in the former President awarding George Soros the highest Polish decoration available to foreigners.

No Polish politician dared publicly criticized Soros until last recently, when the eurosceptic MP Krystyna Pawłowicz levied a number of direct accusations at him.

Professor Pawłowicz is recognized as a close aide of Jarosław Kaczyński, the leader of the ruling PiS (Law and Justice) party. Ms. Pawłowicz branded Soros a “supra-national lefty troublemaker” who is “openly and brazenly financing the anti-democratic and anti-Polish element with a view to fight Polish sovereignty and indigenous Christian culture”. She further described his activity as “anti-Polish and violating the principles of the Polish constitution”.

Stressing the covert, revolutionary activities of the global speculator, Prof. Pawłowicz went on to accuse Mr. Soros of promoting “unconstitutional and immoral derailment of the society” and of “financing of any initiatives directed against the current democratically elected Polish authorities”.

Having had a distinguished legal career prior to entering the Polish parliament, inclusive of being a former Constitutional Tribunal judge, Prof. Pawłowicz has been particularly focused on the compatibility of Mr. Soros’s operations with the Polish constitution, and questioned whether his activities are in fact altogether illegal in Poland.

Convinced of George Soros’s negative influence on her country, Krystyna Pawłowicz recently called for the relevant authorities to assess the legality of the Polish activities of, as she phrased it, “this pest”.

She has further demanded that he is stripped of the Commandery with Star of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland (one of highest Polish honours, awarded typically to foreigners who have rendered great service to Poland) which was awarded to him in 2012 by the former Polish President Komorowski.

This marks a 180-degree turn in the sentiment towards George Soros in one of the historically most sympathetic countries.

Sergei Lavrov said that Russia has never had a so-called Plan B for Syria as Moscow categorically rules out a military solution to the Syrian crisis.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Rules Out Plan B for Syria
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160923/1045647471/lavrov-syria-plan-b.html

Russia has never had a so-called Plan B for Syria as Moscow categorically rules out a military solution to the Syrian crisis, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.

"We don't have any Plan B because we are convinced that there is no military solution to this crisis," Lavrov said at a news conference following his address to the UN General Assembly. "We never mentioned Plan B. It was mentioned by our partners, mentioned and then denied. But I trust [US State Secretary] John Kerry when he says that he is convinced there is no military solution, and this is absolutely our position as well," Lavrov stressed.

The US has deployed its special forces in at least 7 bases in Northern Syria which are located in Qamishli, Ain Issa, Kobane, Hasaka and Tal Abyadh regions.

US Deploying Forces in 7 Bases in Northern Syria
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950703001196

The Pentagon admitted last week that it has stationed its forces in Northern Syria but didn’t reveal any details.

Based on information obtained by FNA from media outlets and field sources, the 7 bases in which the US forces are deployed are:

1.The US forces are seeking to turn Rmeilan airfield in Syria's Northern province of Hasakah into their new operations room and build helipads in there.

2. Mabrouka village in the Western parts of Qamishli where at least 45 US special army forces have been deployed.

3. The French Lafarge cement factory, which is located between Kobane and the town of Ain Issa in Jalabiya in Northeastern Syria. Informed sources have reported that the US has increased the number of forces deployed in the region, adding that another base is being built for training the militants and helicopter landing.

4. Ain Issa base near a town in Northern Syria, which is hosting over 100 US forces.

5. Kobane base in Northern Syria in which more than 300 US special forces have been deployed.

6. Tel Byder base in Hasaka province and in the Western parts of Qamishli which is equipped with helipad for military helicopters. The US trains militants in this base.

7. Tal Abyadh base which has been the scene of most US forces' moves in Syria. At least 200 US special forces, equipped with armored vehicles, have been deployed in the region and the US flags have been hoisted above certain government buildings in the area.

No official report has been released yet about the exact number of the US forces and weapons transferred to the abovementioned bases but field sources have reported observing armored vehicles, semi-heavy weapons, TOW missiles, thermal cameras, advanced wireless devices and night goggles in them.

Reports said last month that the US has set up a new military base in Hasaka, Northeastern Syria, under the pretext of demining the region, Kurdish sources said.

"The US has deployed tens of its marines in Mabrouka village in the Western parts of Hasaka province under the pretext of demining Ra's al-Ain city which is now under the control of Kurdish forces," sources told FNA.

According to the Kurdish sources, the US forces have set up their base in one of the buildings of Syria's power department in Mabrouka named Housh al-Kahroba.

The Lebanese al-Akhbar newspaper reported in December that the US experts are reconstructing and equipping a desolate airport special to carrying agricultural products in the region controlled by the Kurdish forces in Hasaka region to turn it into a military base.

A number of US experts entered the region to develop and prepare the runways with 2,500m length and 250m width to be used by fighter jets.

Abu Hajar airport which has not been used since 2010 is located in Tal al-Hajar region in the Eastern countryside of Hasaka which is controlled by the Kurdish People's Defense Units (YPG).

The airbase is located Southeast of the town of Rmeilan, which is one of the YPG’s main strongholds and “largest arms and ammunition depots”.

The US has not received or even asked for a permission from Damascus for reconstructing the airbase. The United States does not have a UN mandate for intervening in the Syria war.

Syrian Foreign Minister stated that for anti-terrorist efforts in Syria to bring results, they need to be coordinated with the Syrian government, otherwise they violate the country's sovereignty.

Syrian FM Urges Coordination of Anti-Terror Fight in Country With Damascus
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160924/1045667245/syria-anti-terror-fight.html

For anti-terrorist efforts in Syria to bring results, they need to be coordinated with the Syrian government, otherwise they violate the country's sovereignty, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said Saturday.

"We have always welcomed all international efforts to counter terrorism in Syria. But we stress once again the need to coordinate such efforts with the government of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Syrian Arab Army that has been combating terrorism on the ground for more than five years. Without such coordination any action would be considered a breach of sovereignty, a flagrant interference and a violation of the principles and purposes of the charter," Muallem said at the UN General Assembly in New York.

"Without such coordination, any action will fall short of achieving real results and will even make matters worse," Muallem added.

Damascus repeated its commitment to the Geneva peace process under the UN auspices, Walid Muallem said.

Until now, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) troops they support have been advancing through Syrian territory without any resistance; however, sooner or later, they will be routed at a very high price, so it's best to withdraw now, before the country becomes a direct participant in the conflict, says former Turkish diplomat.

Before It Encounters Fierce Resistance, Turkey Should Withdraw From Syria
https://sputniknews.com/world/20160924/1045656478/turkey-syria-military-operation.html

(Note - Is Turkey and the FSA in Syria getting in the way of U.S. ambitions and game plan?)
Turkish Armed Forces and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) they support within the Euphrates Shield operation have been advancing through the Syrian territory without any resistance.

However sooner or later, they will be routed and they will pay a very high price for it in terms of human and material losses, Faruk Logoglu, Turkish former diplomat and former ambassador to the US told Sputnik Turkiye. What is even more dangerous, he said, is that the current policy of the Turkish government towards the Syrian Kurds will inevitably push Turkey into a direct confrontation with the Kurdish units in the region.

This means that Ankara will become a direct participant in the Syrian military conflict, fighting at two frontlines simultaneously – against Daesh and the People's Protection Units, also known as the People's Defense Units (YPG), the main armed service of the Kurdish Federation of Northern Syria – Rojava.

Turkey does not need this. Its main task is to ensure security along its border with Syria, to eliminate any terrorist threat on its frontiers and contribute diplomatically to the settlement of the Syrian conflict. The Turkish former diplomat explained that the farther Turkey's armed units go into Syria, the more problems they will encounter. The first question they will be forced to answer after they supposedly liberate the city of al-Bab in the northeast of Aleppo and take under control the region: what will be next? How to keep the territory under control?

I am not a serviceman but it is clear for me that this is a very serious problem that Ankara has not even been thinking about," Faruk Logoglu told Sputnik.

Taking all the above into account, the former ambassador concluded that his home country should wrap up its operation in Syria as soon as possible and withdraw from the Syrian territory before it encounters any serious losses. "One of the most serious flaws of the Euphrates Shield operation is the lack of circumspect strategy on how to withdraw from the Syrian territory," Logoglu said. Besides, he added, there is no clear final aim of the operation. At the beginning, it was the insurance of security at the Turkısh-Syrian border, which has been partially achieved. The former diplomat especially stressed that it was "only partially", which has been demonstrated by the recent shelling of the Turkish city of Kilis near the border with Syria.

A growing number of Fatah al-Sham (the newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) terrorists are surrendering to the authorities in Eastern districts of Aleppo city.

"The growing trend of surrunder among the terrorists in the Eastern districts of Aleppo has caused Fatah al-Sham's commanders to take preventive measures across the militant-held neighborhoods in the city," the sources said.

"Fatah al-Sham has deployed more monitoring checkpoints across the Eastern districts of Aleppo to confront those militants who try to surrender to the government forces and takes tough action against those who intend to lay down arms," they added.

On Friday, Syria's military aircraft dropped leaflets over terrorist-held districts in the Eastern part of Aleppo city, urging the militants to lay down their arms and surrender themselves to the authorities, local sources said.

The sources said that the Syrian army warned the terrorists in the Eastern districts of Aleppo city of eventual defeat in the ongoing war.

"The Syrian army has called on the militants not to miss this opportunity and surrender themselves to the army soldiers as soon as possible," the sources added.

One of the most notorious commanders of Ahrar al-Sham and his aide have left the terrorist group after its leadership, in a Fatwa (religious decree), called on his forces to strengthen all-out cooperation with Turkish soldiers in their so-called anti-ISIL campaign in Syria.

Abu al-Yaghzan Mesri and his aide Abu Hamza Kurdi broke ties with Ahrar al-Sham opposing the order of the groups' leadership to intensify cooperation with Turkish army to hit ISIL's positions in Northern Syria.

In the meantime, the 135-member group of Mohajedou Ashedda'a broke ties with Ahrar al-Sham due to what it called "the leadership's recent deviations from the group's principles".

Ahrar al-Sham was one of the groups that rejected the September 9 temporary ceasefire.

Hundreds of militants stationed in Damascus countryside surrendered themselves and their weapons to the Syrian authorities to return to normal life as the soldiers of President Bashar al-Assad continue to recapture more regions across the country.

Nearly 250 militants were pardoned after surrendering to the government troops in the framework of the third phase of al-Qadam neighborhood reconciliation.

In a press statement from al-Qadam area, Damascus Countryside Governor Alaa Munir Ibrahim said that those who have surrendered have been pardoned and will return to their normal lives, adding that a large number of militants are to be pardoned in al-Qadam area as well as Qudsaya, al-Hameh, Wadi Barada and al-Tal areas in coming days following the amnesty decree no.15 which offers the opportunity to those who want to be normal citizens again.

Meanwhile, nearly 600 militants were pardoned in Sweida during a national event attended by official, popular and religious figures at the Sweida Branch building of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party while a sum of 130 militants from Homs Province were also pardoned after they turned themselves in to authorities on Wednesday in accordance with the amnesty decree No.15 for 2016.

The Syrian President has offered an amnesty to militants who lay down arms, insisting that the amnesty has been virtually in effect in Syria since day one of the terrorist war in the country.

US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton forgot classified documents at a hotel in Russia during a trip as secretary of state, documents released by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation show.

Clinton Left Classified Data in Russian Hotel During State Secretary Trip

The documents, released on Friday and cited by ABC News, show that when Clinton was on a trip to Russia while serving as US secretary of state, her aide brought a classified briefing book into the hotel suite. The classified documents were left behind when the aide and Clinton left the room, Sputnik reported.

According to the FBI documents, the briefing book should not have been brought into the hotel suite in Russia.

Most of Clinton’s emails recovered by the FBI will reportedly not be made public until after the US presidential elections in November.

Syrian, Russian Warplanes Continue to Bomb Terrorist Centers in Aleppo

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950703000687

Syrian and Russian fighter jets, for the second day in a row, pounded terrorists' strongholds in Sheikh Saeed, al-Sakri, al-Ameriyeh, al-Kelaseh, Bustan al-Qasr and the Old Aleppo, while the Syrian Army's artillery units shelled militants' positions heavily in the same districts.

"Positions of Fatah al-Sham (the newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in al-Rashedeen district in Western part of Aleppo city came under the heavy bombardments of the Syrian and Russian fighter jets," army sources said.

"This is a collective operation. Air and artillery units' attacks are only parts of a large-scale operation against terrorists in Eastern districts of Aleppo city, which will last for several days to push the militants back from the city," the sources underlined.

Other sources in Northern Aleppo said that the Syrian army soldiers have advanced against terrorist near Handarat camp.

On Friday, Syrian and Russian fighter jets carried out at least 30 combat flights over terrorists' positions in different parts of Aleppo, inflicting major losses and heavy casualties on the militants.

"Syrian and Russian jets targeted terrorists' sites and defense lines in the districts of al-Kelaseh, al-Ma'adi, al-Zabdiyeh, al-Halak, al-Sakhour, Sheikh Khazar, Karam al-Tahan, al-Mashhad, al-Mowaselat, Old Aleppo, al-Ansari al-Sharghi, al-Marjeh and the road connecting al-Bab to Qaterchi, leaving scores of fighters dead or wounded," opposition sources said.

Syria militants to get heavy weapons from foreign supporters

http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2016/09/24/486210/Syria-militants-heavy-weapons-FSA-alBayoush-truce-Aleppo

Militants in Syria say they are about to receive new types of heavy weapons from their foreign supporters as the Damascus government continues with a major offensive in the northern city of Aleppo.

Colonel Fares al-Bayoush, head of the Northern Division of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) militant group, said Saturday that he expected the delivery of more “heavy weapons, such as rocket launchers and artillery” from their foreign sponsors, Reuters reported.

He, however, said it was not clear whether their supporters would agree to their long-held demand for anti-aircraft missiles.

There are “indications and promises” of more weapons, the militant leader said, but claimed that any increase in arms support for them would be “slight.”

The United States, along with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, has been channeling military support to militants fighting under the banner of the FSA for several years.

The support for the militants described by Washington as “moderate” includes training by the Central Intelligence Agency and anti-tank missiles.

This comes as the Syrian army has been advancing further in militant-held areas, recapturing more regions.

On Saturday, Syrian soldiers seized back the control of a refugee camp north of Aleppo from militants.

Sources belonging to both the Syrian military and the militants confirmed the recapture of Handarat camp.

On September 19, the Syrian army announced an end to a week-long ceasefire in the Arab country, when US-led coalition jets attacked a Syrian army base and an aid convoy was hit near the northwestern Syrian city of Aleppo.

The deal, which began on September 12 and was initially agreed to last seven days, called for increased humanitarian aid for those trapped inside Aleppo. The truce was brokered by Russia and the US.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011.

Over the past few months, the Takfiri militants active in the Arab country have suffered major setbacks as the Syrian army has managed to liberate several areas.

Intense Battle Underway between Syrian Army, Jund Al-Aqsa Terrorists North of Hama

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950703001010

"Jund al-Aqsa's strongholds near the small town of Ma'an came under the heavy attacks of the Syrian government forces. Tough battle in underway in the region," sources said.

"In the meantime, Syrian warplanes have been pounding terrorists' gatherings near the towns of al-Latamina, Morek and Ma'ardes," the sources added.

Field sources said earlier today that Syrian Army troops and National Defense Forces (NDF) repelled massive attacks of Ahrar al-Sham on a key city in Eastern Hama, inflicting major casualties on them.

"Syrian government forces defended strongly their positions near the village of Khneifes along Eidoun and did not allow Ahrar al-Sham to advance in the region," the sources said.

"Syrian and Russian fighter jets played a crucial role in repelling Ahrar al-Sham's attacks," the sources underlined, adding that Ahrar al-Sham's main aim in this operation was capturing the strategic city of al-Salamiyah.

"Ahrar al-Sham used a large number of fighters in its operation but failed to prevail over the government positions," the sources said.

"Syrian government forces are fortifying their positions near Khneifes, getting ready to confront terrorists' attacks in the next few hours," they went on to say.

The explosion went off just when the meeting began and was caught in camera.

US U-2 Spy Aircraft Shooed Away Near Iranian Borders

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950703000763

"In the past few days, our forces at Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base warned a US U-2 spy plane which sought to violate Iran's airspace and it was forced to change its direction," General Esmayeeli said addressing a gathering near Tehran on Saturday.

Stressing that the Air Defense forces care for safeguarding the country's borders rather than diplomatic considerations, he said that even the European officials should take permission for flying over the Iranian airspace.

Lieutenant Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard had announced in 2014 that Iran's powerful radar systems are capable of tracing the U-2 stealth aircrafts.

"Using the indigenized radars built by the young scientists and experts of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base, we can monitor all enemy moves even beyond the borders well and give the needed response if necessary," Sabahifard said at the time.

Noting that the country's air defense units have alarmed several reconnaissance and surveillance planes, including some U-2 stealth aircraft, to stay away from Iran's borders, he said, "Warning the radar-evading U-2 aircraft shows that this type of airplane can be easily discovered and traced by our radars."

In a relevant development in August, Iran's Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base warded off a US radar-evading spy drone after approaching the country's bordering areas from Afghanistan.

The drone which intended to pass through Iran's borders for espionage operations was dissuaded from accomplishing its mission after Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base gave it a serious warning.

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) had taken off from a US base in Kandahar and had advanced to areas 20 miles off the Iranian borders when it was alarmed.

Iran has downed many US drones and they have always started reproducing them immediately after conducting reverse engineering.

The Iranian version of the RQ-170 drone was manufactured through reverse engineering of the US drone, which was tracked and hunted down in Iran late in 2011, and has been equipped by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) with bombing capability.

Back in October 2013, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said Iran moved as much as 35 years ahead in building drone engines by reverse engineering of the US drone.

The RQ-170 engines are the fifth generation and the engines of Iranian unmanned planes are the third generation, Hajizadeh said.

Western Media Blames Russia, Syria For Attack On UN Convoy; Video and Photos Tell Different Story
http://www.activistpost.com/2016/09/western-media-blames-russia-syria-attack-un-convoy.html

Throughout the entirety of the Syrian crisis, Western media outlets have misrepresented facts and presented outright lies to their audiences regarding virtually every aspect of the war. Particularly when it comes to specific occurrences used to gin up support for greater Western intervention in Syria, these outlets kick it up a notch, launching flurries of disinformation and misinformation designed to leave imprints of false narratives in the minds of half attentive audiences. Incidents such as the Ghouta chemical weapons attack, little Omran, and, now the alleged attack on a U.N. convoy are now parts of a larger narrative. No matter how much they are debunked, confusion and distortion leave behind traces of the narrative embedded in the mind of the consumer.

Still, it is important to point out the false narratives where they do exist in order to deconstruct them as much as possible.

For instance, the recent hysteria over an alleged attack on a U.N. convoy by “either Syrian or Russian jets” (because it couldn’t have been the U.S. of course) has been used as an attempt to paint Russia and Syria as violators of a ceasefire and states so evil that they would dare attack the sacred U.N. who only ever provides food to hungry people and candy to children. Yet the entire incident, which the West is attempting to use as a political hammer, exists only through the channels and pages of Western media. In reality, however, not so much.

The story being peddled to the American people is that, even as the ceasefire was still in effect (from the point of view of the United States despite the fact that its terrorists never abided by one principle or obligation of the ceasefire from the very beginning), either Russia or Syria bombed a U.N. aid convoy on its way to deliver supplies to civilians.

However, further investigation reveals that the aid convoy that was destroyed and the U.N. aid convoy being presented to the American public as being the victim of the attack are two different convoys and two different incidents.

The convoy that was actually attacked, a Syrian Red Crescent aid operation, was attacked outside a warehouse in Urm al-Kubra just west of Aleppo. Twenty to thirty trucks were said to be destroyed in this attack which took place shortly after the ceasefire officially ended on September, 19. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the attackers were the Syrian or Russian militaries. Instead, it is most likely America’s rebels who attacked the convoy.

Still, the United States claims that, although it doesn’t know which military, it is confident that the UN aid convoy was bombed by either Syria or Russia. As the Washington Post reports,

“We know it was an airstrike and not one from the coalition. We don’t know if it was Russia or the regime,” the only others flying over Syria, a senior administration official said. “In either case, the Russians have a responsibility certainly to avoid doing it themselves, but also to keep restraint on the regime.”

But, per the usual method of accusation, the United States never explained exactly how they knew this. Where is the intelligence coming from? Are there satellite images? Anything?

Russia, however, denied that its planes, or Syrian jets for that matter, were involved in the attack. In addition, the Russian defense ministry pointed out some anomalies suggesting that the convoy was not bombed from the air at all.

“We have studied video footage from the scene from so-called ‘activists’ in detail and did not find any evidence that the convoy had been struck by ordnance,” said Igor Konashenkov of the Russian Defense Ministry. “There are no craters and the exterior of the vehicles do not have the kind of damage consistent with blasts caused by bombs dropped from the air.”

Indeed, photographs of the convoy do not line up with the damage that one would expect to see if the trucks had been attacked from the air. As Tom Miles and Angus McDowall reported for the Asia Times,

He [Igor Konashenkov] said the damage to the convoy visible in footage was caused by its cargo catching fire. It had occurred at the same time as militants from the group formerly called the Nusra Front had started a big offensive in nearby Aleppo, he said, appearing to point the finger at rescue workers from a group called the “White Helmets” who filmed the aftermath.

“Only representatives of the ‘White Helmets’ organization close to the Nusra Front who, as always, found themselves at the right time in the right place by chance with their video cameras can answer who did this and why.”

Hussein Badawi, head of the White Helmets in the town, said he was 100 meters (yards) from the aid depot when the attack took place and was injured by shrapnel in the hand.

“There were fires, martyrs, wounded people. We were able to pull out four survivors and five dead bodies at first,” Badawi said. “The bombardment was continuous. The rescue teams weren’t even able to work. Those who arrived in ambulances couldn’t come in.”

Despite having immediately claimed that the attacks were the result of airstrikes, the United Nations was forced to walk back its assertions after the Russian response and explanation. Now, the U.N. statement has replaced the word “airstrikes” with the word “attacks.” U.N Humanitarian Spokesman Jens Laerke stated that the references were the result of a “clerical error.”

“We are not in a position to determine whether these were in fact air strikes. We are in a position to say that the convoy was attacked,” he said.

The Russian explanation, photographic evidence, and the intentional confusion that has come as a result of a propaganda push on the part of the Western media apparatus as well as the fact that the White Helmets, a notorious terrorist support group were first on the scene and that al-Nusra fighters were themselves launching an attack in the general area at the same time as the convoy was attacked, all point to the possibility that it was the terrorists who attacked the convoy and not a traditional state actor.

Furthermore, video evidence has been posted appearing to show a jihadist vehicle armed with an artillery/mortar launcher riding beside the convoy.

Still, the Western media is intentionally confusing two different convoys – one that never entered Syria and was waiting on the Turkish side of the Turkey-Syria border and one that was traveling from the government held area in West Aleppo into terrorist held areas. The former was a U.N. aid convoy, the latter a Syrian Red Crescent convoy.

It should be noted that the U.N. convoys sitting idle at the border were not allowed in by the Syrian government because the U.N. would not allow the Syrian government to inspect the trucks. The fear on the part of the Syrian government was that the NATO powers were smuggling in more weaponry and supplies for terrorists under the guise of U.N. aid trucks, a fear that has already been realized in the past.

We now have a full on propaganda onslaught in the West attempting to blame Russia and/or Syria for bombing a U.N. aid convoy that was never bombed to begin with while at the same time hiding evidence of terrorists having attacked the one that was. As a result of deceptive reporting and propaganda coming out of official State Department mouths, the American public is fooled into believing that Russia and Syria have committed a tragic war crime despite the evidence showing that the attack on the actual convoy may very well have been committed by America’s proxy terrorists. The United States and the West are obviously driving the final few nails into what little credibility they have left.

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon sounded the alarm after the collapse of the ceasefire in Syria has given way to more violent fighting in recent days as the Assad regime looks to reclaim territory and tighten the siege of rebel dominated east Aleppo.

UN Chief Calls Syrian Offensive on Rebel Held East Aleppo ‘Chilling Escalation’
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160925/1045673607/syrian-offensive-aleppo-chilling-escalation.html

Ban Ki-moon called the escalation of Syrian airstrikes on rebel-held areas in Aleppo and surrounding areas a "chilling military escalation" according to a statement by his spokesman who said the international diplomat was "appalled" by the surge in violence following the breakdown of the ceasefire.

Since the announcement two days ago by the Syrian Army of an offensive to capture eastern Aleppo, there have been repeated reports of airstrikes involving the use of incendiary weapons and advanced munitions such as bunker buster bombs," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in the statement.

The return to hostilities follows a breakdown in the ceasefire after last weekend’s US-led coalition airstrike against a Syrian Army base in Deir Ez-Zor that killed 62 and injured hundreds only days into the cessation of hostilities opening a chasm for renewed violence. The assault was followed by a strike against a UN aid convoy in violation of international law which the United States quickly blamed on Russia, a rendition of facts that Moscow vehemently denies with the remains of a convoy truck burnt out with its frame still intact – a damage profile more consistent with American hellfire missiles than Russia’s heavier munitions.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry blames the United States for failing to hold its end of the ceasefire in tact with rebel groups openly refusing to comply with the mandates of the agreement despite receiving US-backing with the foremost condition being that the so-called “moderate” rebels disband from the Al-Nusra Front, formerly Syria’s al-Qaeda affiliate prior to a rebranding effort.

Rebels from the controversial group Ahrar al-Sham denounced the ceasefire before it went into effect and told Washington that it was “impossible” for them to breakaway from Al-Nusra terrorists because the two groups were too intertwined having joined forces under the umbrella group “The Army of Conquest” which spearheaded a short fracture of the Aleppo siege in early August.

Thousands of civilians remain trapped in the besieged city of Aleppo despite efforts by Russia prior to the ceasefire to open up humanitarian corridors to allow for the peaceful exit of non-combatants with numerous reports that terrorists and rebels at times have held civilians hostage in the city threatening violence against them or their families in the event that they should flee.

The intensification of the Syrian Army campaign in Eastern Aleppo appears to signal a breakdown in the longstanding stalemate between the Assad government and the rebels in Aleppo with hopes for a peaceful negotiation between the two party’s facilitated by the United States and Russia shattered by the airstrike in Deir Ez-Zor and over 300 recorded ceasefire violations by the rebels who escalated their fighting after being called to halt fighting.

Thanks for the info angelburst29

For instance, the recent hysteria over an alleged attack on a U.N. convoy by “either Syrian or Russian jets” (because it couldn’t have been the U.S. of course) has been used as an attempt to paint Russia and Syria as violators of a ceasefire and states so evil that they would dare attack the sacred U.N. who only ever provides food to hungry people and candy to children. Yet the entire incident, which the West is attempting to use as a political hammer, exists only through the channels and pages of Western media. In reality, however, not so much.

It is interesting that a US predator drone was observed in the 'zone of attack' on the convoy. While it's still not clear whether or not it was involved in the attack, since much of the damage was either caused by fire or small munitions, the Russian Defense ministry has went so far as saying "[The responsibility of the US] hasn't been concluded but my judgment would be they did it."

Isn't that funny - the US single-handedly destroys the ceasefire by bombing Syrian forces but for Ban Ki-moon it's Syria's legitimate response that's 'chilling'. Well I'm sure it must be for those who cling to the US' skirt. But the Russian and Syrian Army are pushing forward anyways. They recently resumed anti-terrorist operations in Eastern Aleppo and the Syrian Army has launched a major three-pronged offensive following the airstrikes:

Britain, France, US seek urgent Security Council meeting on Syria

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/britain-france-us-seek-urgent-security-council-meeting-syria/

United Nations (United States) (AFP) - Britain, France and the United States have requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting on the escalating campaign in Syria's second city of Aleppo, diplomats said.

The meeting was likely to be held at 10 am (1400 GMT) on Sunday, the diplomats said.

Intense air strikes happened in Aleppo on Saturday, two days after the Syrian army announced an offensive to retake the rebel-held east of the city.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon earlier said he was appalled by the "chilling" upsurge in fighting in Aleppo and warned that the use of advanced weaponry in the battleground city could amount to war crimes.

Ban cited reports of air strikes involving the use of incendiary weapons, bunker buster bombs and other powerful munitions in the offensive launched by the Syrian army two days ago to recapture the city.

He warned that "the apparent systematic use of these types of indiscriminate weapons in densely populated areas may amount to war crimes," a statement from his spokesman said.

A weeklong ceasefire agreed between the United States and Russia ended on Monday and efforts to revive the truce failed.

Screw Ban-Ki-moon. How come he is suddenly concerned about Aleppo. Is that because the US proxies are losing the city?

And how about not forgetting the core principles of the UN and protecting Syria's sovereignty. The US doesn't has a mandate to interfere in Syria. Just like those other +60 countries. Apparently he doesn't has any problem with that.

I don't know if this guy is just some usefull idiot or a complete shill. But he is certainly unfit for the job.

..... while their proxy rebels are killing each other off in Power struggles in Aleppo? Well, if the U.S. won't separate the "Terrorists from the Moderates" as Lavrov suggested - looks like they decided to clean house by themselves! So, who's trying to "save" who?
(As for running to the U.N. for a Sunday 10 am meeting - they probably needed cover to get a couple "holes" in - on the Golf Course before Noon?)

Disputes and sporadic clashes among the terrorist groups have increased after their crushing defeat in Handarat Palestinian refugee camp and its surrounding regions and their pursuing withdrawal from the entire regions in the Northern outskirts of Aleppo city.

Aleppo: Rift Widening among Terrorist Groups over Syrian Army's Takeover of Handarat Camp
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950703001437

Several terrorist groups accused Ahrar al-Sham, Faylaq al-Sham and Jabhat al-Shamia of their humiliating defeat and sudden withdrawal from Handarat camp, claiming that their escape from the frontline forced Fatah al-Sham Front (the newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) to retreat from the region.

Earlier on Saturday, the Syrian army troops and popular forces inflicted major losses on the terrorist groups in the Northern parts of Aleppo and took back Handarat Palestinian Refugees Camp.

"Syrian pro-government forces, in a large-scale offensive, targeted the terrorist groups' strongholds in Handarat camp and drove them out of the camp and its nearby territories," the sources said, adding, "The camp is now under the full control of the Syrian soldiers."

"In the meantime, Syrian army and its popular allies have engaged in very fierce clashes with Fatah al-Sham in Sheikh Saeed district in the Southern part of Aleppo city. Syrian artillery and missile units have shelled Fatah al-Sham's defense lines heavily in Sheikh Saeed," the sources said.

A few hours later, the Army soldiers, after hours of non-stop battle, captured al-Shaqif industrial zone in the Southern side of Handarat region.

In tandem with advances in Handarat region, the Syrian army soldiers also took back Kandi Hospital that was under the control of Fatah al-Sham (the newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front).

With the liberation of Handarat, al-Shaqif, Kandi hospital and the two military sites in the Eastern and Western sides of al-Shaqif industrial zone, the Northern outskirt of Aleppo city has been completely liberated.

Reports said also on Saturday that a growing number of Fatah al-Sham terrorists are surrendering to the authorities in the Eastern districts of Aleppo city.

"The growing trend of surrender among the terrorists in the Eastern districts of Aleppo has caused Fatah al-Sham's commanders to take preventive measures across the militant-held neighborhoods in the city," the sources said.

"Fatah al-Sham has deployed more monitoring checkpoints across the Eastern districts of Aleppo to confront those militants who try to surrender to the government forces and takes tough action against those who intend to lay down arms," they added.

Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jafari criticized Washington for bombing the Syrian Army units in Deir Ezzur which resulted in the death of 90 soldiers.

Syrian Envoy to UN: US Trying to Divert Attention Away from Deir Ezzur Incident
http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950703001596

The Syrian envoy to the UN said Washington is trying to divert attention away from the US bombing of the Syrian troops in Deir Ezzur, and its own failure in upholding the terms of the new ceasefire deal.

“This is nonsense … American diplomats, as well as military, are trying to justify their wrongdoings in Deir Ezzur,” the Syrian envoy to the UN said, adding that “they [the US] are trying to create a parallel between their own big mistake when they bombed Syrian military positions, by pretending that the Russians did the same bombing the humanitarian convoy. Which is not true, by the way, because there are no holes on the ground; the convoy was not bombed”.

According to Jafari, Syria is conducting its own investigation of the convoy attack and will provide its findings to the UN.

The US lacks the political will to respect the terms of its own agreement, which includes targeting terrorist groups in Syria, Jafari said in an exclusive comment to RT’s Caleb Maupin when asked about the failing ceasefire.

Jafari harshly criticized what he said was a US inability to broker an agreement on Syria which could last. He said US officials have been “pretending that they cannot separate the terrorists of Al-Nusra Front [Fatah Al-Sham Front] from the other so-called moderate opposition,” calling it a lack of “political will.”

The US government has offered its apologies to the leadership of Syria for the airstrike against Syrian army positions that led to the death of 60 to 80 soldiers. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, RT reports.

Lavrov: The US has apologized for Deir ez-Zor, but actions speak louder than words
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/09/lavrov-us-has-apologized-for-deir-ez.html

“Yes, they apologized. The situation is a little strange. I told Secretary of State John Kerry once and then again at a meeting of the International Syria support Group that the situation in Deir ez-Zor, unlike in Aleppo where the contact line is always changing, has been static for more than two years. Syrian troops there have been surrounded by ISIS,” Lavrov said.

The minister emphasized that the only way out of the difficult situation is honest, joint work “when all ceasefire agreements will be fulfilled and unilateral demands are not pushed forward only to then make a ‘gesture of goodwill’ in the hope that this will pay off.”

However, Lavrov stated, no positive steps have been witnessed on the part of the Syrian government’s opponents.

“Already several times over the past months, we have met and announced coordination with the Americans on a pause around Aleppo, but after 48 hours and 72 hours later every time we realize that these pauses have been used to reinforce the manpower, supplies, and armaments of militants, including Al-Nusra,” the Russian foreign minister remarked.

While there are no doubts that various ‘opposition’ and terrorist groups in Syria are trained, supplied and managed by foreign intelligence services (mostly US, Turkish and Saudi), the pro-government sources have not provided video or photo evidences in order to confirm this report. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not commented on the issue.

Otherwise, the MSN is quite about this and SF's article is 15 hours old.

We still don't know for sure if the FARS News report is correct. However, it is interesting that the Times of Israel is reproducing it:

Russia Destroys Secret Foreign Military Operations Room Killing Israeli, American And British Intelligence Officers In Syria
http://novorossia.today/140477-2/

The Russian warships stationed in Syria’s coastal waters targeted and destroyed a foreign military operations room, killing over two dozen Israeli and western intelligence officers.

“The Russian warships fired three Caliber missiles at the foreign officers’ coordination operations room in Dar Ezza region in the Western part of Aleppo near Sam’an mountain, killing 30 Israeli and western officers,” the Arabic-language service of Russia’s Sputnik news agency quoted battlefield source in Aleppo as saying on Wednesday.

The operations room was located in the Western part of Aleppo province in the middle of sky-high Sam’an mountain and old caves. The region is deep into a chain of mountains.

Several US, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari and British officers were also killed along with the Israeli officers. The foreign officers who were killed in the Aleppo operations room were directing the terrorists’ attacks in Aleppo and Idlib.

Earlier in September, the Syrian army units launched a preemptive strike on the terrorists of the so-called Aleppo Operations Room in their gathering centers near Castello road in the Northern areas of Aleppo and Mallah farms, foiling their plots to attack the region’s supply route, a source said.

The source said that the army’s artillery units attacked the terrorists’ gathering centers near Castello and Mallah farms in Zahra Abdo Rabbah, Kafar Hamra and Hurayatyn which killed and wounded dozens of militants.

Also, the Syrian air force attacked the terrorists’ supply route in Northern Aleppo towards Hayyan and Adnan as well as the supply roads in Western Aleppo towards the North and smashed the terrorists’ convoys in al-Aratab, Urom Kobra and Ma’ara al-Artiq which thwarted the terrorists’ plots and forced many of them flee towards the Turkish borders.

Informed media sources disclosed earlier that the Syrian army has continued its advances in the Southern part of Aleppo, and regained control over several strategic areas in the town of Khan Touman.

“A number of key warehouses of Khan Touman are now under the Syrian army’s control,” the Arabic-language media quoted an unnamed informed source as saying.

The source noted that the Syrian air force and army’s artillery units also targeted the gathering centers and fortifications of the terrorists in Khan Touman.

The USA violates the 3rd protocol of the UNO convention on inhuman armament dated from 1980 year
http://novorossia.today/the-usa-violates-the-3rd-protocol-of-the-uno-convention-on-inhuman-armament-dated-from-1980-year/

‘Military units of the USA use weapon with white phosphorus in struggle with the ISIS, it was confirmed by photos and video on the site of Pentagon. However, it is not clear how is this weapon used’, The Washington Post writes.

Look at the comment of the colonel of Air Forces who took part in operation in Iraqi John Dorrian.

‘You see shells f 155 mm caliber with white phosphorous at the foreground of the photo. They are used for creation of smokescreen, and marking. When American Forces use this armament, it is coordinated with laws of military conflicts and taking into account of civilians and civil objects’, he said.

At that Dorrian could not answer how often weapon with white phosphorus is used against rebels.

Having known the effectiveness and accuracy with which the USA uses its weapon, it is very doubtful that the statement of the colonel Dorrian corresponds to the reality. There are a lot of examples of the use of such armament. Suddenly 8 police officers perished in the South of Afghanistan as a result of mistake bombardment from the side of American Air Forces.

Or from 2012…

18 civilians perished on the 6th June 2012 in the province Logar close to Kabul as a result of attack of American drones. Air strike was made at expected positions of rebels; however, missiles stroke the building where wedding was.

On the 8th June the general, Commander John Allen apologized for the mistake made by the coalition.

The best characteristic of the position of the West was given by Sergey Lavrov at the General Assembly of UNO:

´It is century simply indecent to teach everyone in the educated the XXI, leaving the right and for the doping, and unilateral adventure in circumvention of the UN and on the geopolitical experiments cost millions of human lives´.

Was thinking about the major offensive in Aleppo - and i think that maybe the Russians, SAA and allies realise, that they better secure Aleppo before the US elections; this will enable them to be in a much better situation in future "negotiations" with the new US administration; and also a major step towards getting rid of the psycho jihadis - and fully securing Syrian territorial integrity in the long term. Looks like the attacks on the SAA by US and coalition warplanes last week, may again have backfired on the Empire....could be wrong, fwiw

I'm watching it right now and the amount of lies against russia and Assad are incredible. Sounds like they want to push for military action against Assad/Russia.

The US, France and England are accusing russia and syria basically of war crimes in Aleppo.

It is all over the mainstream right now. A example from the BBC:

Now things will become interesting. Some opined that US and Russia won't dare to confront each other openly because the result will be nuclear annihilation. It seems a couple of daring and decisive tactical maneuvers are about to be made on the battlefield.

Considering where the peeps running the site are located, it's not terribly unusual that they don't identify themselves; it could get them killed. I've been following them on Twitter for awhile and they are usually on top of things.
