Sad Story....

Thank you l apprenti de forgeron.

It's worse that my son says he is ok, but the boy who killed himself, was a friend of his. So he is kind of in shock I think.

All of this in my tiny town is just really strange for all.

I'm sorry you both are having to go through this, Dawn. It seems that there is more to the story of why this happened. Was he on any tranquilizers or some such drug? I hope that eventually your son will be able to grieve. He may just need time to process it all, though, before it really sinks in.

A  to the both of you.

I'm sorry to hear this too Dawn -- it must be a terrible shock to everyone at the school, and even worse for your son and other friends of the boy who shot himself. Take care, and I hope your son is doing OK :hug2:

Very sad Dawn, hope you and your son can go over it soon, back to normal life.
Are you able to take some time off? Could be good to go in the nature.

I am so sorry to hear that Dawn, for you, your son and the community. I hope you guys are okay. Once the shock wears off, maybe engaging in the Redirect writing exercises will help with the healing.

Sorry to hear of this Dawn. Hoping you will feel some support from the members here. Sincerely wishing your family and community much needed peace and healing at this time. :hug2:

It's weird because Brandon (my son) said he was a really funny guy. Not at all that way (making threats). He was the 'class clown' and very funny. So I don't understand at all the threats and all of that. Or how that 17 year old grabbed a gun and shot himself while grabbing some clothing in his bedroom before being taken custody.

My son is just a year younger and I have to think....what if this 17 year old was bullied and out to kill some people? I don't know what to think. I hope some more information comes out from this.

Sad day.

Then I think....what could have happened if he had that gun at my son's school.

I`m so sorry to hear this news. It will no doubt take some time for all to process what happened. I agree that writing down what you`re feeling can help the process. Do you think your son would be up for something like that... even jotting down what he is feeling can help and of course you if he can talk to you when he`s ready. I`m sure you all must be in shock right now. How awful. My heart goes out to all of you.

Sorry to hear this Dawn. Glad you and your son are safe. Take some time to process it if you need to. :hug2:

I am sad to hear a loss of the student and the tragedy that has happened in your son's school. I think it is possible that the student was threatened to involve in something he did not want to... Either way, it must be a really stressful situation to be in for you and your son, but at least you have each other for a support. I am sorry that this has happened. Please, take care :hug2:

Thoughts for his family tonight. I can't imagine what they are going through.

And thanks for the support, (HUGS)

Very sorry to hear about the news, Dawn.

The article seems to be leaving out alot of vital information? It gives no hint, as to what kind of threat the text message entailed or what it might involve. It just deepens the mystery and adds another measure of uncertainty for parent's trying to cope and help their children.

The information surrounding his death is just as confusing.

"While family was contacted, family was present, law enforcement was present, the student, while retrieving some articles of clothing, retrieved a small caliber handgun and turned that handgun on himself and discharged it on himself," said Maj. Tom Reddin with the Boone County Sheriff's Department."

After reading that paragraph, you're left trying to put pieces together, as to who or what was going on? I can relate to the fact, that it was probably a very chaotic situation, within the household at that moment, but to report and print something like that, is inexcusable. It sound like a sports, play-by-play with an excited announcer.

The one thing that stands out, it seems he was allowed to retrieve some clothing (alone) and supposedly shot himself in the chest? Then there's this statement, "As officers were taking the teenager into custody, he obtained a gun, turned it on himself and shot himself in the chest." Something doesn't add up? Is it possible, he grab one of the police officers guns or worse yet, police shot him in the chest? Geez?

Dawn, by your Son's description of his personality being a funny guy, the class clown and not one to make threats, what would make this kid do a 360* turn? Could it be a case of him being threatened, in some way - (bullied or sexually)? It also states, the text message was sent 10:45 PM to the school superintendent. Why him and not a teacher or the school principle? Seem's to be more questions than answers.

I hope their more forthcoming with decent and truthful information, so parent's and students can work towards some type of understanding, to help with the healing and tragedy.
