Sand Artist. Very Creative

I agree, this woman is amazing, an incredible if unusual talent.

Just a bit of info on the video:

This video shows the winner of " Ukraine’s Got Talent", Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II. Her talent, which admittedly is a strange one, is mesmeric to watch.

The images, projected onto a large screen, moved many in the audience to tears and she won the top prize of about £75,000.

She begins by creating a scene showing a couple sitting holding hands on a bench under a starry sky, but then warplanes appear and the happy scene is obliterated.

It is replaced by a woman’s face crying, but then a baby arrives and the woman smiles again. Once again war returns and Miss Simonova throws the sand into chaos from which a young woman’s face appears.

She quickly becomes an old widow, her face wrinkled and sad, before the image turns into a monument to an Unknown Soldier.

This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window as if the viewer is looking out on the monument from within a house.

In the final scene, a mother and child appear inside and a man standing outside, with his hands pressed against the glass, saying goodbye.

The Great Patriotic War, as it is called in Ukraine , resulted in one in four of the population being killed with eight to 11 million deaths out of a population of 42 million.

The art, especially when the war is used as the subject matter, even brings some audience members to tears. And there’s surely no bigger compliment."

Thought you all might like to see this person create his sand art. :)

This is so marvelous! I'm always amazed by the wondrous art that seems to just flow from those who are gifted with such creative talents. I especially liked that the artist presents his work as a gift to Mother Earth - one small loving gesture against the many wounds inflicted upon her constantly. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah great!
The "sandman" had also a cropcircle poster on his wall :)

About creation and vanishing this guy remembered me to Andy Goldworthy and his movie and art: "Rivers and tides"

This Ukrainian girl is absolutely amazingly talented. There is no way that I believe that her creative talent is any ordinary level! I just love how she combines natural materials ie sand to make such natural picture narratives. Not only that but for her age to have such in-depth emotional understanding of the effects of war - and people's emotions - and combine all that into a 'story' that is purely visual. No words could convey such empathy - as you can see from all the audience unable to hold back their tears.

Wow what a beautiful creative and talented act - it just about wraps up past/future - as a warning from a special soul. I hope she has knowledge and being too.

Something good for Ukraine amidst the suffering. Enjoy.

She Walked Out On Stage And Blew EVERYONE Away. I Never Expected This, Astonishing!

I have never in my life seen anything as creative, or anything as touching as this. This is Kseniya Simonova, and she’s the talent of Ukraine Got Talent. What she does, is simply mindblowing. I’ve never seen anything like this before, have you?

Yes, she's very talented. :)

Another member had already discussed her work here back in 2009:

If you like sand art or sand animation here are other artists doing similar things:

Thanks for sharing, I haven't seen this before. It is very touching indeed.

I thought maybe someone would be interested what you actually hear in the video.

It starts with the famous Yuri Levitan's announcement on 22 June 1941:

Attention! Moscow is speaking. Very important government information is being transmitted. Citizens of the Soviet Union! Today at four o'clock AM without any declaration of war German Armed forces attacked on the border of the Soviet Union. The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet people against German fascist invaders has started.

Then goes the song by Mark Bernes:

Dark is the night
Only bullets are whistling in the steppes
Only the wind is buzzing
And the stars are twinkling

In the dark of the night
You, my darling, are sleepless, I know
And while cradling the crib
You're quietly wiping a tear

And another song by Mark Bernes:

At times it seems to me that soldiers
Who never made it home from bloody fields
Were not buried in our land,
But turned into the white cranes instead.

Since those distant times
They're flying and we hear their voices.
Is this why we so often and so sadly
Fall silent looking at the skies?

Thanks for merging Mrs Tigersoap. I didn't realize it went back to 2009! Sad her talent didn't travel far and wide since then. I am glad to see more of such incredible works - they really make me feel grateful for what humanity can be and the creativity alone proves what we could achieve.

There was a bit of an exchange on the topic of talent in another thread, and today, Ark showed me this:

I was pretty much struck dumb. That's talent.

I followed the link that Laura posted above, but unfortunately it is no longer available.

Thank you for giving us the words to the animation Siberia. Very sad.
