The Living Force
Two time synchronized suicide attacks have been reported near the el-Omran Shia mosque in Qatif City and near the Prophet Muhammad's mosque in Medina. Residents report hearing multiple explosions at each location. Saudi Arabia's Arabiya TV confirmed that at least two security personnel were killed in the blast at the mosque in Medina in addition to the suicide bomber while the only reported death in the Qatif City bombing was the terrorist who took his own life. The mosque is Islam's second holiest site.

Initial reports indicate that mass casualty events were averted due to the brave actions of security officials who would not allow the terrorists to enter the religious facilities forcing the attackers to instead blow themselves up outside the mosques.

The wave of attacks upon Muslim populations towards the end of Ramadan is consistent with the Daesh terror network whose leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has called on his followers to engage in a wave of terror to mark the Islamic holy month.

The attacks appear to be coordinated with several blasts outside of mosques in both Qatif and Medina at exactly the same time.

The blast in Qatif City appears by initial footage to have caused less damage although there are no official reports from authorities, yet.

The explosion near the Prophet's mosque in Medina has pushed smoke billowing into the sky with thousands of onlookers gazing in horror.

Just in is a shocking video of the explosion in Medina seen below:

Several explosive devices were found on site of the suicide attack on US Consulate in the Saudi Arabian western city of Jeddah, the Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber blew himself up near the US consulate building, injuring two security officials.

The explosives were neutralized by local civil defense forces, the statement cited by Al Arabiya broadcaster said.

According to the ministry, the bomber was not a Saudi citizen, he was just residing in the country.

That's a bit extreme even for the most extremist Islamic terrorists, right? Better plant some explosives and blow up another near a US Consulate in case people start wondering who wouldn't mind bombing some of Islam's holiest mosques, presumably inciting the rage of the Prophet himself.

It's certainly an unexpected move, an attack on Saudi soil, and in that location. Guess we have to wait and see who gets blamed to see where that's going. First Impression was of it marking the start of shifting the arena of destabilisation into Saudi Arabia in a big way, time will tell.

I don't think it's extreme, but pretty typical. ISIS and their Wahhabist roots contain a vehement hatred towards anything Shia, which they see as a corrupted version of their type of Islam. The violence done to Muslims is, usually I think, done under this twisted doctrine. If I remember correctly Saudi Arabia has wiped out something like 90% of Shia historical sites in the country.

The timing of this is pretty interesting with the Istanbul bombing though. Saudi Arabia may be taking advantage of the 'ISIS threat' to further their anti-Shia agenda, or maybe there are some signals being sent to them as a warning to not engage with Turkey or Russia.

So they, whoever that might be, attacked Muslim and American symbols in Saudi Arabia, so thought also, that with the former it could be a message to them, the Saudis, yet with the proximity to the US consulate it just seemed a little too diversionary. Both together is kind of like, see, ISIS hates its creators both of us too, so help us hunt them down, support us, don't look badly on us.

As for the timing, that was my thought also when initially read, and this couples with the other horrific Baghdad bombing in Iraq; it's all so damn horrific.

It is horrific. My thoughts when reading about Turkey's turn to Russia was that we might be seeing a lot of 'temper tantrums' from the US. After Russia went into Syria the US bombed that hospital in Afghanistan, so maybe this time we're just seeing their proxies go nuts as a form of 'retribution'.

The Saudi government may have orchestrated the recent triple bombings in Saudi Arabia as a ploy to portray itself as a victim of the Daesh terrorist group — as opposed to the common belief that Riyadh is a sponsor of the group — and push forward other political agendas, says an eminent Arab journalist.

Riyadh government may have been behind bombings in Saudi Arabia: Arab pundit
http://www.presstv.us/Detail/2016/07/09/474269/Saudi-Arabia-Abdel-Bari-Atwan-triple-bombings

On Monday, the Saudi Arabian cites of Medina, Qatif, and Jeddah were targeted in a series of terrorist attacks.

Several security guards were killed when a terrorist detonated his explosives near the security headquarters of the Prophet (PBUH)’s Mosque in the western city of Medina. The blast happened immediately after two bomb explosions near a Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia’s eastern city of Qatif. Earlier in the day, a bomb had gone off close to the United States’ consulate in the city of Jeddah, in western Saudi Arabia.

Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm, wrote in his latest editorial that the Saudi regime is attempting to use the bombings to disguise itself as a “victim” of Daesh and use the narrative in favor of its political interests.

While Saudi Arabia has blamed the bombings on Daesh, the terrorist group is yet to claim responsibility even as several days have gone by. Atwan said Daesh was quick to claim responsibility for the terrorist attacks in Belgium, France, and Bangladesh, which, according to him, raises a bigger question regarding the bombings in Saudi Arabia.

Daesh practices Wahhabism, a radical ideology that is freely preached by government-sanctioned clerics in Saudi Arabia.

“Therefore,” Atwan said, “it is not unlikely that, in order to reject criticism and to portray itself as innocent, Riyadh may have orchestrated these bombings in order to be able to say that, like other countries..., it is a victim of Daesh terror.”

The Palestinian journalist went on to refer to the trip by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir to Washington immediately after the bombings and said, while in the US, Jubeir offered to send ground forces to Syria “to fight Daesh.”

Saudi Arabia has long opposed the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whose forces are involved in fighting foreign-backed militants, including Daesh.

Riyadh has several times sought to get the United States’ green light to deploy ground forces to Syria under the pretext of fighting Daesh, but is yet to receive such permission from Washington.

In his editorial, Atwan quoted US Secretary of State John Kerry as saying that Washington is studying Jubeir’s latest offer for the deployment of ground forces.

The bombings in Saudi Arabia, Atwan wrote, may have been meant to prepare the ground for the offer by Jubeir.
