Hello everyone :D
I'd like to present three bands, that I tried to label in order to give you a first hint of what awaits you here. After a while I realized, that my labels did not really cover their styles! But of course you will soon get the opportunity to judge for yourself. Since I am very identified with the music I like, I am curious what awaits me after having posted this :P
Secret Chiefs 3 -- a virtuosic, very creative, shape-shifting, multi-instrumental live- and studio-band surrounding the ex-FaithNoMore- and Mr.Bungle-guitarist Trey Spruance. The band plays a couple of different modes and styles merged together in a slightly schizophonic, rather psychedelic, very melodic, very colorful, emotional and even humorous manner: Surf Rock, Folk, Electronica, Jazz, Classical Music, Metal, Ennio-Morricone- and 70ies-kind of score-music, Turkish Psychedelic Rock from the 70ties and a whole lot of traditional middle eastern styles. What a bizarre band, unpredictable! So if you are still interested, follow me. It starts pretty smooth actually

Mike Patton -- a gifted singer and songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and voice-acrobat, who has become most famous with the band Faith-no-More, that I don't actually know very well. It's the less commercial band Mr. Bungle I want to present here. The songs are also very tuneful and cleanly structured even with a certain pop-appeal. The psychedelically contrasting and shizophonically shifting styles within one single song makes his music very expressive. What wikipedia does not tell is, that Mike Patton is a surreal thinking lunatic. :D I can't tell if he is seriously insane, maybe I am just lame. I would recommend him for an antagonistic role in the next Batman-Movie, sort of Gilliam'esque dark-psycho-delic-horror-musical.
This would be the plot: The 'Patton' hypnotizes the butler Alfred in order to manipulate his master Bruce Wayne, who would catch him in the very beginning, beating him into coma. But without Patton he can't reprogramme his beloved 'father' Alfred (surrogate father). Years pass. The frakked up, now very bad looking, boozing Badman is driven by seriously uncontrolled aggressions. He has become dark as well after all these years. But of course there is still some good in his soul: He meets a girl, blah, blah, blah (there always must be a girl of some sort, this still is a hero-movie, isn't it?) and then there is a turning point: Developing a state-of-the-art brain-scanning-device or collaborating with another lunatic from the middle east, an old master of hypnotizing or whatever... in order to get the frakked up Badman into Patton's head, back in (virtual) shape, starting the most insane, surreal, psycho-delic punk-musical-party you have ever seen! ...and heard. In the meantime we must cause some psychological pressure by... the fact, that the Anti-Batman-Psycho-Alfred is dying, because he's very old now. Batman has to find a specific word, the key to set Alfred's mind free. Poor Batman just wants to say the old man good by! What he does not know yet: the evil word is visualized as a PINK CIGARETTE! Here we go...
Mr. Bungle - Pink Cigarette http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXTjzu7yKvM
The chase begins...
Stubb (A Dub) by Mr Bungle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RBSrUtX0bA
Confusion and first fight in the labyrinth of molten chocolate, that partly is covered with, what first appears to be earster-eggy grass, but then becomes an interior with green carpets and old Victorian furniture, chocolate also, but wait...

The Charlie-Kaufmann-script (the famous scriptwriter himself is involved as the man, who pretends being not Charlie Kaufmann, who was taken inside by force, as he claims, played by a very convincing Nicolas Cage-Stunt-Double, who just looks like Nicolas frakking Cage) becomes more wired, but at the same time action and dialogues are thrilling and bizarre. While the surrounding characters are getting deeper and deeper our main character Batman, well developed in the beginning, becomes more and more flat. The heroic hollywood-warrior does not fit the wallpaper any more. New fascinating questions arise, just like in the real world ;) The Cage-Double is suspected by the other characters for the following reason: Why must he always monopolize each and everything in such a narcissistic manner? The poor guy is seriously scared -- he just wants out!
Slowly Growing Deaf by Mr Bungle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SujuC4QYEXY
The final battle in the surreal enlarged pillow-scape, deep inside a childhood-hideout with living and most important: fighting action-puppets and toys. There is also a certain secret hidden as well, but it's not the key I'm speaking about: for the benefit of character-developement and psychological profile of course! I don't want to spoil the most twisted ending ;)

Tomahawk - Mike Patton - God Hates A Coward (Live-Video) [Voice-Aggropath!] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxNDKsyvMOI
Batman beats the 'Patton' into sub-coma and smokes the Pink Cigarette. After the emotionally overwhelming endsequence with a dying but enlightened Alfred it turns out, that there actually is NO Batman at all! But there still is a bad man, the third man. Sitting aside the just departed, holding the hand of the dead, Batman aka Bruce Wayne suddenly discovers that he's not who he thinks he is. He stands up abruptly and looks confused, watches his hands, watches his body, looks in the mirror and sees the face of the... now guess: the Nicolas Cage Double! It was him all along! Fade to black: The endcredits start... but you still hear him, walking around, panicing... no music! Then the credits stop, and we are back in the scene: Cage starts making funny but also scared faces in the mirror, pinching it, beating it. (think of the Nicolas-Cage-drug-sequence in Face Off) It's just a bad dream! It's the strangest scene in the entire movie. AWAKE! While the interior including the dead body starts looking fake, like cheap puppet and painted stage, the nurse suddenly interupts: "Good Morning. Time for washing!" This is the moment, when the real fake Kaufmann awakens in place of the dead body. He is the frakking coma-patient! "Wwh... ph... hehh... How... How could I possibly survive... this..." -- the Nurse: "Look who is talking! You've survived a terrible accident! (starts the procedure) You do remember!" -- Kaufmann: "Wh..wait, WAIT! stop... what 'da hell is going on. MY BROTHER! Charlie... where is Charlie, you know him, the... bhh... Malcovich! ...malcovich, who wrote malcovich. You know Malcovich, Malcovich?" -- "Adaptation!" ,sounds a mail voice from the back of the room. The nurse says:" You are confused. Maybe you should focus on the fact that you are awake! (She looks over her shoulder) You should be grateful." -- Kaufmann: "What happened to Charlie? Is he still alive?" -- The Nurse: "It's because of this gentle man, that you survived. It's a miracle! Now turn around, that I can wash your back!" The man from the background walks over, wearing a perfectly white suite. He is flattered, smiling, faking being humble. Donald Kaufmann recognizes him. He is scared. It's Mike frakking Patton! "That can't be true! It just can't!" -- The Patton: "Chill... Try to focus on the real thing, on the things that are real!" -- Kaufmann: "No, it's all wrong! What am I doing here? I am Nicolas Cage, the actor, and... I am just playing this! It's a set!" -- Patton: "You are confused, overwhelmed... it's just it, you know!" -- Kaufmann: "NO! None of this is real!" -- Patton: "Yeah, calm down. Everything is going to be alright... it's all set, sssshh, just fine..., just... fine, just tell me, my dear friend... What do you know about Bruce WAYNE! ...vain, ...vain, ...vain (delay). END!
Now finally the endcredits start while you still here the echo-delay of vanity. But when you see the motion-graphics and start reading the names of cast and crew, you realize that it's the credits of another flick, the lost movie Adaptation II, that seems to have explained, what exactly happened to Charlies brother Donald after he was 'murdered' in the first movie.
Vladimir Bozar -- While you are watching the credits you hear the first track of three: 'Teaser Album' by http://www.myspace.com/vladimirbozar So the last band I'd like to present is Vladimir Bozar ’n’ ze Sheraf Orkestär. This music I would describe as a mixture of the two bands before, a combination of the styles you just heard, but in addition to some more stylistic ingredients and: it's a French band. They do the Drum'nBass-/DubStep-styles very well.
In a way all these bands seem to be the children of Frank Zappa: kindred spirits, that follow the fresh pathways of unlimited musical thinking. As you can see this kind of music has a very inspiring influence on me. That's why I like it. How about you?
So maybe those of us who appreciate this unusual kind of music (I hope I am not the only one) could use this thread to collect more bands or solo-musicians, who fit this category.
EDIT: I added some informations regarding the Batman-characters (please, don't take it too seriously :P) I colored the paragraphs, that are not that important.
second EDIT: I changed the title of this thread and added an explanation.

Music, no matter if its due to a certain sound design or a certain use of tonality (mode) or rhythmic time -- makes me feel something that is somehow connected to a certain imagery or scenery. So music is part of a very beneficial association process that can be used in different ways. Of course some of these spontaneous visions, that are triggered by a certain melody or atmosphere, are more or less subjective, but you can try to make them more objective by connecting them to what you or if possible we know. It depends on how objective you are, I guess. It's hard to find the appropriate words. The music that somehow resonates with me is a kind of personal score, the soundtrack to what I think and feel, so to speak. When the music resonates with me, I resonate with the musicians as well, at least in musical terms or so I think. It seems to be all connected, I believe. So it may be a kind of communication, a language of it's own. There are people who can express their thoughts and feelings even better by making music. Hearing it seems to intensify what is in me. It speaks to me in an emotional way. But it seems to depend on ones frequency if this language is 'understood' or not. So for me there is no reason for cursing the ones who do not understand a certain kind of music, no matter how identified I am with it. Those people simply share another frequency.
just enjoy if you like. There are much more important things to do. ;)
