Shootings and Mass Shootings

A domestic violence incident in Louisiana resulted in 10 people being shot across multiple sites in Shreveport.
The gunman was killed by police officers.

Officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to the 300 block of West 79th Street just after 6 a.m. following reports of a domestic disturbance. Police spokesperson Christopher Bordelon described the crime scene as “extensive,” spanning two homes in the area and a third on Harrison Street nearby.

“You have three different scenes, the shooting itself occurred just down the road over here, the 300 block of West 79th,” Bordelon said. “There’s also another shooting related to this on Harrison Street, and then there’s an adjacent residence on West 79 where one of the victims ran to after the shooting.”

Ten people were shot — eight fatally — ranging in age from 1 to 14 years old, Bordelon said at a news briefing.

“The individual responsible once leaving this scene performed a carjacking right here in close proximity to the corner of West 79th and Lynnwood, at which point in time, Shreveport police patrol officers got behind that vehicle in a chase incident,” Bordelon said.

Officers shot and killed the suspect during the chase in Bossier Parish, Bordelon said.

“We do believe him to be the only individual that fired gunshots at these locations here,” Bordelon said.

Police did not share any information about the suspect, but Bordelon said "some of the children" in the homes “were his descendants.” A motive for the shooting is not clear at this time.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux, who also spoke at the briefing, said the community is in mourning.

"This is a tragic situation, maybe the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had in Shreveport," he said. "So, right now we’re going to process the information and it's in very good hands."

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

mass shooting reported in Sacramento.

ARDEN-ARCADE, Calif. —
At least four people were wounded in a shooting as a gathering of “several hundred” people was broken up Saturday evening at Howe Park in the Arden Arcade section of Sacramento County.

The shooting was reported around 6:50 p.m. in the parking lot of the Home Depot on the 2200 block of Howe Avenue, across from the park bounded by Howe Avenue, Cottage Way and Bell Street.

Four people were shot at Howe Community Park on Saturday night, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

At 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to Howe Park on reports of individuals carrying concealed weapons. They then received a second call reporting a fight had broken out, deputies said.

Upon arrival, the sheriff's office noted that several hundred people were gathered in the park without authorization. Park officials contacted the sheriff's office to break up the group, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies surrounded the park and gave public address announcements for people to leave the area. It was at this time that deputies heard 20-25 gunshots.

According to deputies, once they cleared the park, they located four separate victims with gunshot wounds. All victims were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The investigation took place on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot, the sheriff's office said.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has not released any suspect details.

MEXICO CITY, April 20 (Reuters) - A gunman killed a Canadian woman and wounded four other people at the Teotihuacan ‌pyramids outside Mexico City on Monday before killing himself, authorities said, jolting one of the country’s most visited tourist sites.
Local media footage appeared to show an armed man shooting from atop one of the pyramids. Further details were scarce.

Authorities are coordinating the investigation at the archaeological zone, which local authorities described as "calm and under control" following the incident.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said in a post on social media she was in contact with the Canadian Embassy. The Canadian Foreign Ministry did ‌not immediately reply to a request for comment.
"What happened today in Teotihuacan pains us deeply. I express my deepest sympathy to those affected and their families," Sheinbaum posted on X.
Mexico is preparing to co‑host the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside the United States and Canada, an event expected to draw millions of visitors from abroad with scrutiny focused on security at major tourist and cultural sites.
