Sunday 16th June 2013: NSA PRISM: Neither Privacy Nor Security

Last week the Guardian newspaper reported that American broadband and telecommunications company Verizon has been handing over records of all incoming and outgoing calls made by its customers - all 150 million of them - to the US National Security Agency since late April.

This was followed up by 'NSA whistleblower' Edward Snowden, a contractor working for the world's largest intelligence agency, going public with an internal powerpoint presentation that outlined the extent to which the NSA uses Google, Facebook, Apple and friends to spy on the whole world through a program called 'PRISM'. These companies, by the way, deny all charges and say that if it is being done, then it is being done without their knowledge or consent.

While President Obama reminds us that we cannot have "100% security and 100% privacy", some are calling for Snowden to be assassinated for treason and others praise him as "the greatest whistleblower ever". But what exactly is he blowing the whistle on? And where is this scandal leading us?

Join us this Sunday June 16th from 2-4pm EST (7-9pm CET), when we'll take a closer look at this prism for your mind.

We don't live in a democratic society.
Modern democracy is just an etiquette of globalist political marketing. :(

Thanks, looking forward!

America always wanted a president that listens to all Americans – now we have one. Jay Leno :)

Everytime I tune into Sott Talk Radio, my laptop breaks down. Is this PRISM at work? Or am I in need of a new laptop?

It's probably your laptop, not PRISM :)

I'd suggest trying a different web browser and/or maybe updating your Adobe flash player, if it's old.

No problem here....

I'm having a strange dejavu here: this present caller (also called Joe (?), not the first Joe!), hasn't he been calling already in one of the other shows? Seems like he's probing somehow...?

Could be, but I don't remember actually...

Maybe you are refering to the last caller of the first SOTT Radio Show, who called in just before the end of the show?

Thanks Foxx & Pashalis :) It did the same last Sunday, using Google Chrome. It's still 'resting' so will try listening on a different browser & check Flash Player when it comes around. Alternatively download the show & hear it that way.

They just said it, 'Joe from Montana'. But I'm not sure that was the last caller of the first show. Anyhow, it was just a bizarre impression I had there. Might be off.

And he also said that he can't remember to have called in before. Wich is either a counciouss lie of him or he really can't remember... Or he really hasn't called in before and we are mistaken about it...

I think the first possibility might go into the right direction (lie)... But I also could be wrong and missing something here.

He definitely sounded familiar to me, so it was a little weird when he said that he hadn't called in before. I'm not really clear on what the point of his "hypothetical" question was--he sounded somewhat confused and just parroting a standard line with the hypothetical question to me.

I'm pretty sure I recognized the voice. I remember the first time he called in and said he was 'Joe from Montana' and my immediate reaction was 'Yeah, right!'. And as was just mentioned on the show, the whole "hypothetical" question scenario is like being manipulated, being led to say "yes" to the surveillance (or to anything else) when put in a different, invented context, i.e. the hypothetical question.

Anyhow, thanks for another very interesting radio show!

Yes, Joe is a very strange character, and he was obviously lying about not calling in before. I could have sworn he was attempting to make a point: that there would be false flag attacks that would be used to increase the demand for surveillance. As I said in the show commentary, that whole line of thought could be me projecting. He was, as before, very combative and degrading in his choice of words and in how he tried to control the conversation.

However, and I may be off on this so please correct me, it seemed like the chat board sounded a lot like the Pete Santilli gang. I think that SOTT can and should produce better commentary than a feeding frenzy like that. That is just what I think and who knows, it could be wrong. It could be a natural reaction to the nasty/pathological tone Joe had. But I would like to raise it for discussion to see where the error in my thinking lies.

Edit: Did I forget to add that this was one of the best shows yet? Great info everyone. Thank you :)

"Joe from Montana" has been on a before.

Thanks for the discussions on the show - good job, always something to learn.

Good night.
