Sunday, February 2nd, 2014 - Hidradenitis Suppurativa (Verneuil's Disease): Interview with Dr. Philippe Guillem

This week we’re talking with Dr. Philippe Guillem, top expert on Hidradenitis Suppurativa (Verneuil’s Disease), a ‘rare’ condition that may in fact be very prevalent. Dr. Guillem has spent almost twenty years as a surgeon, and last year received special recognition, together with French non-profit organization ‘Solidarité Verneuil’, for the high-quality care he provides his patients.

Typically developing in stages, Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin condition affecting the apocrine sweat glands, and leads to inflammation, infections, and constant pain. Often misdiagnosed and misunderstood by doctors, HS also leaves sufferers feeling shameful, in part thanks to the common misconception that lack of hygiene or obesity are to blame.

We’ll also be talking about rare diseases in general, the lack of medical attention they receive, and why it’s important for people to be informed and seek out the right care. If you suspect that you or a loved one might have HS, or any other condition you are afraid to speak of, then we hope you’ll join us from 2-4pm EST (8-10pm CET). You are not alone.

Looking forward to it, too. Should be interesting to get Dr. Guillem's direct input, as I've read some about this whole issue and his help for those suffering.

This show sounds like the most unusual one so far.
Super curious!

I'm curious about this too. I'll have to re-read the info on the subject before I listen to this show. This seems to be very important, more so in our current climate of rapidly declining health - in light of the cosmic viral connection & "climate change". The timing of recent SOTT shows/articles indicates the huge changes that i've been expecting for this year are accelerating, & also how well "grooved" the chateaux crew are with the DCM feedback loop.

Yeah. One of the reasons we are interviewing this doctor and talking about it is because hopefully the advice will apply to other chronic diseases, and it is an example of how networking is the key, how many doctors are completely ignorant and dismissive of patients, and how some diseases can lead even to suicide, and much more, when not treated as a whole (physically and psychologically). So, yeah, we do think it's important in these times.

The official statistics say that only 1% of the population has this problem, but the doctors and people working in the field estimate it to be much higher (between 3% and 5%). There are some interesting connections with bowel problems, arthritis and anemia to name just a few, and whole lot of discrimination and pain involved, because this system is so messed up.

In short, it may seem unusual, but perhaps it's because it is not often talked about! We have had a close experience with this, and believe me what I say that we don't wish it on anyone! And that not having found this doctor could have meant a horrible fate for one of us, who had already suffered for more than 10 years. How many more people are in this situation but don't have access to this knowledge, or are misinformed?

This clarifies the deeper reasoning behind the show. It's the holistic approach at it's best!
It's so interesting to see the brand new connections come up between the dots so far apart, just

There is so much to fix.

Tuning in.. :lkj:

My connection is crackling, but its working today. :flowers:

Jason, you are goof. This is a good thing. :D :hug2: :hug2:

Thank you so much for sharing your story, Jason, with us. The stuff you and your loved ones have had to go through. :O But I was glad to hear your voice again.

I was just thinking, maybe someone has mentioned this before, but does detoxification help at all? Or do people with these boils sweat too little, because they are so toxic? Since these private areas are also areas where we sweat a lot, if everything works fine.

It was a really interesting show and I have to think about it a little bit more.

Great show and so good to get the information out there on HS. Jason, thanks for sharing your story of what you went through!!! That was some series of events. Thank the DCM that you had your Mom, Chu and others to take a stand for you at the hospital. And thankfully you found a doctor that is knowledgeable in the HS field. I`m amazed at how fast you said you healed using the barometric chamber. Love that you have a great sense of humor telling your story! I`d say you are a very courageous person in what you`ve been through and in sharing your story. Thank you.

Absolutely Jason was the man! I was laughing with him about the story, even it is serious matter but your aprouch made it, I hope many taking it like it is, illness which must be treated right way, not hiding and holding it for long time. Thank you and I hope it will help many.

Just glad I wasn't too over the top all the time. In the beginning I talked a bit much, but there were so many details, I can easily get lost in them. It's been a pretty long road with the health stuff. Hope it benefits some people!

You can't suffer like Atriedes did, for over 13 years (actually longer than that), and survive without a sense of humor. It was one heck of a long and heartbreaking ordeal. I almost can't describe how it felt to see what was done to him surgically. But thankfully, with all the excellent care he received, the hyperbaric sessions, etc, he healed up and is now living an active life finally.

Thank you very much for this show! It was great as usual.

If I listened to it on air I would have called just to say thank you. :)

As some of you are saying here, network is SO important so that people can find out about it and even be more open to talk about it.
