Sunday 10th August: Babylon, Ancient Rome and the American Empire

Corruption, lies, manipulation and murder on a massive scale. These words describe the modern American Empire, what it has done and what it continues to do today. But has the American Empire, like many before it, extended its hubris too far and is its collapse imminent? Russia stands alone as the only major nation attempting to throw off the shackles of a unipolar world, assert its independence from the Empire and bring some balance back to our global society. Can Putin and Co. succeed in bringing some long-overdue justice to an unjust world? And if not, is there still hope for some retribution from a 'higher power'?

This week on Sott Talk Radio we'll be discussing this topic and will be joined by Laura Knight-Jadczyk to help us explore the nature and fate of the Roman Empire and its parallels to our modern world.

We hope you'll join us from 2-4pm EST (11am-1pm PST / 8-10pm CET) this Sunday, August 10th 2014

No worries :)

Good show! Engaging and covering an important topic.

Timely with Laura's article! Thanks all :D

Great show! Really useful to add further evidence of the relationship between collective psychosis of civilisation and their resulting collapse.

Another great show and I loved the "With love from the Universe to Tel-Aviv". :cool2:

Interesting show, thank you.

The war for people's minds and souls is intensifying...Alas, I can see that that many decent people still don't notice or don't want to notice that they are following corrupted ideas promoted by PTB...They seem to have trouble to realize they are inclined more and more to accept pathological notions as human :(

The facts are given to them on a plate, but they don't see them or what's worse don't want to see them... :(

I was reading Laura's articles from 2006 for JFK's (43rd?) anniversary; the similarity between the two, wherein the public is given the opportunity to discern and make choices, are quite striking. Making the possible outcome even more ominous.

The accompanying article and excerpt do eerily correlate to our times but i had (erroneously) thought the 'a-whoring' entity was the Catholic church.

21 Then a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone

This interested me because if i recall correctly, Hamlet's Mill and the idea of the 'millstone' is being repeated?
; for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery.

How apt.

Great show :wow: (i've listened to it a few times, i think it doubles as therapy)

:flowers:

Thanks everybody for another excellent show! It is always a pleasure to listen to Laura, and you guys too of course. Talk about history repeating itself - will we (humanity) ever learn? I guess we will find out quite soon! :)

and I loved the "With love from the Universe to Tel-Aviv".

Me too! a comet named 'hubris' would be apt perhaps.

Great show. On the topic of prophetic fiction, these are I think the titles of the 2 science fiction novels about dramatic climatological scenarios mentioned (at 60:57 in the show):

Mother of Storms by John Barnes. (New York: Tor Books, 1994).
It is 2028. A strike to destroy an illegal Arctic weapons cache has a catastrophic side effect. Massive amounts of energy are liberated from the polar ice, suddenly and radically warming the Earth’s climate.
In the middle of the Pacific, a gigantic hurricane thousands of miles across is forming, larger than any in human history. A storm with winds of supersonic speed. A storm that changes direction at whim. A storm that refuses to die. A storm so vast it spawns dozens more in its wake.
Blinded by intrigue, expedience, and greed, the world’s politicians and power brokers ignore the killer storm’s threat until it’s too late. The death toll climbs to the tens of millions as it savages the Pacific coast, and the smaller storms it spawns are wreaking havoc across the planet.
While the survivors scramble for advantage, a handful of courageous men and women undertake a desperate plan to save humanity from total destruction—a plan so visionary it may alter forever the future of the human race.

The Sixth Winter by Douglas Orgill & John Gribbin. (London: Bodley Head, 1979).
Frank Rhind was lucky. He saw the ice Dancer and lived. The town of Hays died. And still they didn't believe Dr. William Stovin's warnings. For very many years climatologists had been predicting a change in the world's climate but they always believed that the process would take centuries. Now there was a reason to believe differently. Stovin had staked his career and credibility on trying to persuade the U.S. National Science Council to act, but 15,000 years of warmth had lulled mankind into thinking that climatic history was over. Already it was too late. The new Ice Age had begun.
One by one the great northern cities - Chicago, Oslo, Montreal, Moscow, Leningrad - came under siege. Some fell and were evacuated, sending their young, old and sick to crowded areas further south. Crops and animals were destroyed. Governments drew lines of catastrophe across their national maps. Doomsday prophets were in full cry. Technological man was overwhelmed. The world had changed.
Some time in the year future the next Ice Age will be triggered off. It could happen in a thousand years' time, or in a century from now.
Or it could, quite literally, happen next winter. This book is fiction only because the events described have not yet happened. But it is not science fiction because all the science in the book is fact. When the year arrives that we see the sixth winter resembling 1792 within the space of a decade or so, then the Ice Age will be with us in a matter of weeks - and it will develop very much as described here.

Also mentioned:

The Coming Global Superstorm by Art Bell & Whitley Streiber. (New York: Pocket Books, 2000).

This book was, as mentioned in the show, the basis for the movie "The Day After Tomorrow".
The film was inspired by The Coming Global Superstorm, a book co-authored by Coast to Coast AM talk radio host Art Bell and Whitley Strieber. Strieber also wrote the film's novelization. The book "The Sixth Winter" written by Douglas Orgill and John Gribbin and published in 1979, follows a similar theme. So does the novel Ice!, by Arnold Federbush, published in 1978.
