Sick kitty all of a sudden June 3rd

Is there any chance that she ate or drank something that contained xylitol?

I have a serious reaction to xylitol, so we don't have any in the house. We do have stevia, but its in tubs and not out where she can get in it.

Just got home from taking her in, and the vet was very happy to see the change in her today. She was given a couple injections and sent home, as her condition continued to improve this am. She's bright eyed and alert, and while not the usual destructive self, she's loads better than Monday. She's managed to keep down what she ate this morning, and she's on a low fat food for the time being to ease digestion.

The machines the vet has can take a blood sample and do a full CBC in about 15 minutes. Expensive, but worth it. Comparing the results from Monday to today showed definite improvements. I can put the results up in a bit, I think Hubby left the paper in the living room, and that's a trek from here. (Been up a while and need a nap soon.)

She's currently in one of her favorite spots here in my office, looking very pleased with herself, which is a huge relief from yesterday. :headbanger:

What's the update on this? I'm hoping your kitty is well. I am also curious as to whether we got any official diagnosis, and if Laura's intuition was correct.

I didn't see this when you first posted it, because the email notification failed (it does that far more often than I would like). This could certainly be a clue. Cats have small carnivore colons, and don't do very much fermenting. Assuming that she isn't eating many plant-source fermentables, it might be that she isn't digesting her meat and that it is passing through to the colon to ferment there. I don't know anything about this in cats, but I know that it happens in humans with digestive problems. There are various possible causes.
