Sigur Ros

Yes, I'm a big fan of theirs. Love the dynamics and the huge gitar sound; particular favorites Njosnavelin and Svefn O Englar but really all of their first 2 CDs.

'Svefn g englar' is one of my favorite songs.....always feel being cured when I listen to it...

Big fan here too.
Glósóli is one of my favourites (and always makes me cry), for some reason (specifically the video, but the lyrics too) it reminds me (in some way....probably just wishful thinking though) of the forum/community here. I find the whole thing quite touching. fwiw

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Glowing Sun (Bright Sun)

Now that you're awake
Everything seems different
I look around
But there's nothing at all

Put on my shoes, I then find that
She is still in her pyjamas
Then found in a dream
I'm hung by (an) anticlimax

She is with the sun
And it's out here

But where are you...

Go on a journey
And roam the streets
Can't see the way out
And so use the stars
She sits for eternity
And then climbs out

She's the glowing sun
So come out

I awake from a nightmare
My heart is beating
Out of control…

I've become so used to this craziness
That it's now compulsory

And here you are...

I'm feeling...

And here you are,
Glowing sun...

And here you are,
Glowing sun...

And here you are,
Glowing sun...

And here you are...

Thanks Heimdallr. I hadn't heard either of those songs. I'm trying to figure out the second one on guitar right now.

Tornado

You grow, you roar
Although disguised
I know you

You'll learn to know

You grow, you grow like tornado
You grow from the inside
Destroy everything through
Destroy from the inside
Erupt like volcano
You flow through the inside
You kill everything through
You kill from the inside

You'll...
You'll learn to know

I wonder if I'm allowed ever to see
I wonder if I'm allowed to ever be free

You sound so blue
You now are gloom

You sound so blue
You now are gloom

I wonder if I'm allowed just ever to be

I had always been a big Radiohead fan. When a friend turned me on to Sigur Ros, I realized I had been introduced to a band that had influenced one of my favorite bands ever. I really love when that happens.

Thanks for reminding me to throw Agaetis Byrjun on again. Its been a little while!

Star Alfur is the track that gets my vote for this:

Nice one RedFox! Hadn't watched that video before.

I love Sigur Ros! I considered studying Icelandic because of them, but there are too many irregular verbs for my taste. My personal favorite song of theirs is Ny Batteri; it's very intense and emotional. Plus it uses the bowed guitar, which doesn't get enough love in contemporary music.

Their music has a great calming effect. Thanks for bringing them up. :)

Speaking of Radiohead, the new album, King of Limbs, is fantastic.
Here's the first single - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfOa1a8hYP8
