Incidentally, I'm a big Radiohead fan as well!

Speaking of Radiohead, the new album, King of Limbs, is fantastic.
Here's the first single - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfOa1a8hYP8

Forgot the album was out.. :)

I was gonna bring up Lotus Flower. This video is a wonderful example of some of the inexplicable power of music and movement coupled.

It should be noted the huge impact Radiohead is having on re visioning the music biz. Things would be mighty depressing around popular music if these guys hadn't used their influence toward that first big step toward a "Pay What You Want" direct artist - benefactor relationship through group-financing material/eliminating the banking system that is The Label.

Unfortunately, we still aren't quite at the place (regarding popular music, at least) where freely given work can sustain the worker as well as those that benefit from it, mostly because you need quite a following for this to begin to sustain. This issue is a huge sickness polluting the whole environment of well to do artists, and it becomes quite easy to get sidetracked and forget "why you do it/what you expect." Most don't make it out unscathed. But Radiohead is helping!

Don't have much to add besides I'm a Sigur Ros fan as well. I have a good of good/bittersweet memories tied up in them.
Beautiful music.

Thank you for discovering Sigur Rós to me! :flowers:

My favorite (so far) is Festival http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWMDfJEkQDs
Simply beautiful...

To me, Sigur Ros has made the most beautiful music of all time. ;D I love them!

Their sound is always epic, with piano and violin masterpieces subtly mixed with post-modern sounds, but with many variations across their albums.

Their first album, "Von", is a bit varied, but a great example would be its namesake, "Von": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6LCbJe1dmg

Their second album, "Agaetis Byrjun", is the quintessential Sigur Ros, having many fantastic songs like Staralfur (probably my favorite), Agaetis Byrjun, Svefn-g-englar, and Olsen Olsen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2GjOC79gVI

Their third album, "()" (aka Untitled) is a departure from their other work, with themes derived from the beautiful and sad piano song "Untitled #1". The music video is particularly touching and even foreboding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqJ8hFgYwVg

Their fourth album, "Takk...", goes back to basics, with epic songs like Hoppipolla: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnAwPeqrdAk

Their most recent album, "Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust" is overall very playful and upbeat, with festive songs like "Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiOU9NAiYlQ

As you have said, Jonsi's solo album is also excellent and carries the spirit of the band very well. I recommend his album too!

Sigur Ros is definitely an underrated band, with a beautiful sound unlike anything else in music today. I wish more people tuned in to their music, they would feel nice and even thankful for knowing such beauty! (IMHO :-[)
