I might have to use my cell phone's 4G LTE data to tether an internet connection to my computer. Does anyone have experience or know whether Skype will work well enough?

No experience, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It might be choppy, depending on the speed of the connection on both ends. You'll also want to keep in mind your monthly data allowance for your phone. Some estimates have said that Skype video uses about 4MB/minute.

As Heimdallr pointed out it is doable, but it depends on what kind of bandwidth or internet speed your phone's 4G can pull in. Can you test your speeds with a speedtest like app?

For a reference _https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1417/how-much-bandwidth-does-skype-need. Also do you have your computer setup to tether internet from your phone's usb cable? I would personally prefer that over tether through wifi fwiw.

Last night my home internet went down for unknown reasons. During that time, I tethered my cell phone to my computer using a USB cable and an android tethering software that I previously bought as a back up. That's when I posted the question. Later, the home internet worked again for unknown reasons. So I hope I won't be needing the tethering method in the future, though I think 4G LTE in my area keep up with 4MB/minute. I didn't test speeds since I have pay as you go data, since I usually have phone data off.
