Smoking is... good?

i read that it's better to avoid any filter, but it's less convenient to smoke a cigarette without a filter.

For hand rolled cigarettes I use a wooden cigarette holder from Turkey. No nicotine stains, no burnt fingers. I could also be used with filter cigarettes made with tube filler machines: just cut off the plastic filter and smoke happily ever after.

The second part is about the filter : i read that it's better to avoid any filter, but it's less convenient to smoke a cigarette without a filter.

You could try a cardboard butt (the cool kids call it a roach), you can then roll your cig as fat or as skinny as you like, the tighter the roll on the roach the more it slows down the suck back of your smoke. IMG_3684.jpeg

That’s what I use - and I cut them in half! Nice slim cigs. And cheap! Added bonus, when you light it from the wrong end, it doesn’t contaminate the whole cig, you can cut off the burnt part, switch sides and off you go again!

I like my smokes strong and bitey, I really only use the roach to keep the paper end open, I use a 6th of the cardboard tip per cig, a pack of 50 tips lasts me 300 smokes.

It really took years to figure out how I like it best, lots of trials of different papers and filters, different tobacco (the smoke shop has been able to get my favourite organic one since it got banned, dunno how but I’m seriously happy about it) I’ve mastered my art of ciggie smoking and rolling and I hope I never have to stop.

I never light the wrong end though, how do you manage to do that?

Here’s a picture, manitou organic RYO, organic hemp papers and cardboard filters by RAW. Beautiful 💖

Yesterday I smoked my pipe after lunch to relax but this time for some reason I got high (there is no other words to describe it) for about 30 minutes. It has never happened before. Head spinning, difficulty to keep balance, etc. Fortunately no visions

Full run down. I have been smoking this particular tobacco about a year, am half way thru the can (not a new batch) and a it was single pipe after the lunch. So everything as usual. Not sure what or why it happened.

Since we are all here detail oriented, I just smoked another pipe today, you know, it the name of science :-P and everything was back to normal.

Any ideas? Is it normal? Should I be worried?

Ah, a fellow pipe smoker!
This has also happened to me on occasion, though I can't say that I've experienced the loss of balance (mostly because I just stayed sat in my 'smoking chair' ;-D).
When this kind of thing has happened to me I've put it down to not having eaten enough and smoking a large bowl pipe on an empty stomach, which is really just speculation - I have no idea if tobacco can have an impact on blood sugar levels.

A few other things came to mind:
Are you fully inhaling the tobacco?
You said you were smoking for about 30 minutes - were you smoking quickly?
You said, 'everything as usual' - was that just in terms of the tobacco and the pipe? Was there anything else, physical or otherwise, which was different to usual?

It's not for me to tell you what to think, but I wouldn't be worried.

Thus o'er my pipe in contemplation
Of such things - I can constantly
Indulge in fruitful meditation,
And so, puffing contentedly,
On land, at sea, at home, abroad,
I smoke my pipe and worship God.
