December snowfalls at Charlotte Pass
charlottepass: 21-12-2010 Christmas has come early at Charlotte Pass Alpine Resort, with overnight snowfalls.

Snowfalls commenced early Sunday evening and continued heavily throughout the night. Residents & guests of Charlotte Pass Resort woke this morning to 10cm of fresh snow.

"It is absolutely beautiful" said Kosciuszko Chalet Hotel Manager Michelle Lovius. "Everything is covered in a blanket of white; it looks like a Winter Wonderland. This is such a special sight to see in Australia, especially around Christmas."

The heavy snowfalls seem to have abated, however the temperature is expected to remain low over the next 24 hours with sporadic light snow flurries.

the iceage has surly started when it is snowing in Australia in the middle of summer

Parts of the state recorded their coldest December mornings in several decades on Monday as summer snow fell in the Snowy Mountains, wild winds rattled the coast, and more than 500 people were still cut off by the worst flooding in years.

The State Emergency Service (SES) received 74 calls for help from people in the Illawarra, Sydney and the Blue Mountains as gusts of up to 100kmh brought tree branches crashing down and damaged roofs.

Temperatures plummeted to 4C at Parkes Airport in central NSW, 10 degrees below average and the coldest December morning in 54 years, The Weather Channel says.

Coonamble in northern NSW recorded 7C – the coldest December morning in 12 years while Trangie, northwest of Dubbo, had 6C – the coldest December morning in 42 years.

To make matters worse, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting an unseasonably gloomy Christmas, with rain forecast for just about every part of the state between December 24 and Boxing Day.

I've been 35 years in Sydney and last night was the first time during December I've ever had to throw a warm cover on the bed. What a weird summer we're in for.

Sounds like a pole shift to me. I've also heard that tectonic plates may be beginning to translate, causing parts of land to move to different latitudes.

Which pole do you mean? Magnetic or rotational or geographical?

Which distances do you imply with "different latitudes"?
