Somali-Americans may be trained terrorists
An FBI agent says the bureau is suspecting that an underground network is recruiting and training Americans for terrorism in Somalia.
"Our concern is that they are returning to fight and to train to fight or conduct terrorist activity," special agent E.K. Wilson was quoted by AFP as saying.
The comments were based on Washington's claims that Somalia harbors such extremist cells.
Wilson said the concerns were rooted in reports that dozens of Somali-Americans had gone missing in Minneapolis -- home to almost half of the community in the US.
The official claimed targeting of the US citizen Shirwa Ahmed in a suicide attack in late October had brought the Somali-born US nationals into focus.
The FOX News, meanwhile, quoted an intelligence source as saying that secret transportation networks aided the plans occasionally fabricating passports for the purpose.
