Steve Mcqueen a GENIUS

After I stopped watching movies for a while as I thought I had seen almost every at least half decent movie and everything in the last years that was spurted out from hollywood was just at the lowest possible level of taste. Then I discovered Steve McQueen when I accidentally stumbled on the movie SHAME.
Steve McQueen is a truly magnificent artist with a very deep understanding of the human psyche.
It is a very important movie to watch as it plays on so many levels and like a great piece of art leaving certain things open and uncertain, without becoming one of those overly abstact pseudo-artfilms.
Then I watched HUNGER also a powerfull story portraying the hungerstrike of IRA fighter Bobby Sands in prison. There is a wonderfull scene where he talks with a catholic priest for 17 minutes recorded unbroken, where the priest tries to convince him not to do the strike. A great dialog.
So it was really weird because after I watched and researched his movies I saw that he is about to release a new film this month starring Brad Pitt. 12 Years a Slave. Normally I do not like these Slave movies but I think this one will be great as I trust Steve to handle the topic intelligently, clear and ruthless. I look forward to it.
Now if you look very close then you will discover that all three movies are depicting a very close analysis of the human behaviour and the system he has created for himself. But look beyond RACE (12 years a slave), beyond SEX (SHAME) and beyond POLITICS (Hunger). A truly good observer always observes beyond MORALITY as any sort of moral judgment is based on PREDJUDICE.
