Shijing said:I've heard about this phenomenon quite a bit, and I know two people personally that this also happens to. I don't know why it happens, but it seems logical to posit a possible electromagnetic cause.
Shijing said:Whitley Strieber mentioned at one point that this is something that can happen to people who have been abducted, but I don't know how accurate that is, or if its the only explanation. Besides, in the Cassiopaean transcripts, it seems that just about everyone who ever asked (or was asked about) had some history of abduction, so if the two are connected this should actually be pretty common OSIT.

Having lived out in the country for several years where there are no streetlights, I haven't really thought about it until you brought it up. I have to admit that not every streetlight would turn off, just specific ones would.

It stops and goes with intervals of 10 seconds or so. There was also humming in the state of NV., 30 miles east of Reno (and 30 miles from Fallon Naval Air Station) as well just a steady humming like a transformer sound having current run through it ......? very noticeable ..............but not quiet annoying, in both places. Odd.?M.A.O. said:Theres a humming sound where am at in the south of Fr..It stops and goes with intervals of 10 seconds or so. Mjolnir said::O Aw... well, I always suspected to be abducted, but it would be great to discover the accurate reason behind that phenomenon, only if there's something else behind it. I searched in the web but I didn't find anything about it.

Another way might be to experiment with switching on more load to see if the timbre of the hum changes. Try silent loads like light bulbs. Have a friend or two switch them on and off so you can concentrate on the sound and whether it changes. We recently concluded some tests where we determined that even though a typical household extension cord is nowhere near an effective antenna length 'required' for broadcasting 50/60 hz efficiently, it does ooze a lot more power than we thought, meaning that the idea that open wiring can do work on itself is valid, and one form that shows is sound. Also, the PGE waveform at our place has more of a triangular shape than a sinusoid, meaning that our residential wiring is literally sprayed with higher frequencies. Not very smart of PGE, unless they are thinking with their dollar head.
potamus said:Mjolnir thank you. It happens a lot with me. For years now. My working hypothesis has been that the heat radiated from my body - convection or not - is tickling a poorly designed photo-electric sensor in the streetlights. Recently, I was walking behind a building beneath a row of lights, and someone approached me from behind with a concerned look. The question was in effect, "What are you a walking Stephen King novel? The lights have turned off one-by-one as you walked by." I hadn't noticed. And again, my height, my baldspot, all pointed to me to my simple idea of a poorly designed photo-electric sensor, again. Interesting to hear others are having the same experience, and yes I have no clue why.

I bought some of those LED based solar recharged lawn lights and lashed eight of them to my balcony. It's nice. They charge up during the day, and give several hours of soft light at night. Strange thing is though, that they often turn back on later in the evening. It has happened a number of times now that they pop on when someone is right at the point of passion in a conversation. It doesn't seem to matter whether we are on the balcony or inside with the doors closed.

Just wanted to let you know, I wasn't trying to alarm you (if that's how you felt, I can't quite tell). The abduction connection is just something that I have read about before when this streetlight phenomenon was described. If I have a chance, I will try to find the references I mentioned -- I unfortunately don't remember at all which books I read about it in (there were more than one), but if I manage to come across the information again, I will post them back here.
I was looking for some related information but I didn't find anything...abstract said:I just think it's funny when you find cuts on yourself and don't remember when they happened.
