Stress buildup and the body

Thank you so much for your post! Lately I have problems with my neck, I feel he is rigid. I used to do Yoga some time ago, with good teachers, specially when I was living in Barcelona. But then I move, I still did some Yoga exercises but then life is so complicated, you forget in a stressful way your body. There is so much to do and so little time. It is time to go again to Yoga. And meditation, as Laura said and the C's advised. Thank you!

I agree that it's more important to find a balance, and not focus on one muscle in particular.

Personally, I do this:

Each person needs to find whatever works best for them. Breathing and meditation is super important too.

Personally, basic Pilates exercises almost every morning do the trick for me. It was/is rather life-changing! And I found the particular Pilates breathing very helpful in daily life as well - whenever I do something physical and need strength and body control/awareness, the breathing and tightening of the stomach is of great help.

I find active like Yoga does stress relief for me. It comes over me like a wave once I've hit it... something about the breathing and way energy is used.

I noticed cortisol isn't talked about too much... as the stress hormone, one should note that Yoga is clinically proven to reduce it! Some people naturally have higher levels (in fact blood type A and B for whatever reason).

Hi OneFielder, cortisol has been discussed in a few places.
For those who are interested in elevated levels, have a look Cortisol and Chronic Stress - Cortisol Resistance :)

On of the big things I notice is that those with elevated levels tend not to know they are elevated, it feels 'normal'.
