This storm moving through the southeast right now has been labeled one of the largest tornado spawning super cells (if not the largest) in US history (by the Weather Channel). Cities have requested mass causality trailers in Alabama and Georgia (not sure on those details, that was just announced) . Multiple tractor trailers have been blown off I-75 and the causality numbers are rising in Alabama and Georgia at this point - no report of other states and it is stretching up to Maryland. Any forum members in the path - be careful!
 
I saw a friend from TN posted on facebook saying they were without power (apparently the cell towers are still working? :huh:)

That's crazy. I hope people who live in these areas take shelter immediately.
 
CNN reported earlier, that the wind speed near Birmingham, Alabama was clocked at 177 mph!!! Anybody near the path of this storm, please take care.

Is this happening right now? The date on the video was for April 24? :shock:

The included video shows part of the descent of the funnel cloud...large tornadoes like this often have hidden funnels inside of them, that's what makes them so destructive.

If you're in the path of this one, its not something you want to take a picture of, just hunker down or run if you have no other option.
 
Yes, it is tonight. The video is what made me turn on the Weather Channel (my tv is never on...) - the largest active cell is now moving across the Georgia border - several earlier ones have already caused deaths in Georgia this evening.

:( I'm sharing what I've found with other FB folks. This Spring is really rocking and rolling.
 
It really looks like someone is playing out a BBM 'combined disasters card' at some level. I hope everyone in the region will be safe. Take care Masamune!

Iddly enough, we had tornnado warnings this afternoon in Ottawa, of all places. In my 35 years here, I don't ever recall a tornado warning.

They ended up lifting the warning after an hour or two.

Its not too bad at this point, just like a regular thunderstorm. It is looking like the worst parts are going to miss me. Hope everyone out there is safe!

I think we missed the brunt of the storm here in the Piedmont of NC. There were a couple reported tornadoes that touched down in the area yesterday but nothing significant. I think it is time I purchased a weather alert radio though with the increase of tornado activity. I'm not too keen on the idea of waking to a tree crashing through my window or losing my roof while I snooze. The blacked-out windows does deter lighting flashes though! :)
 
I heard on BBC radio that there were some 120-130 tornadoes reported in Alabama! :shock: Then the following came to my mind:

That was the first session and very first prediction from the Cs. The sun is not in Libra; however I remember reading from Laura that the sun in Libra could be a reference to the sun's dark companion.
