Super Cell - record breaking across US southeast

While I see why you made the connection, I think it might be tenuous. Tornadoes in that region are not uncommon - it's just that this storm really was extraordinary. Also, the sun not being in Libra makes it iffy, as does the inclusion of Texas. Apparently, they had a few more tornadoes this morning in the same region and April is now a record breaker for # of tornadoes in one month.

Please be careful. Wow that must be really scary. :(
Keep us updated.

Its not too bad at this point, just like a regular thunderstorm. It is looking like the worst parts are going to miss me. Hope everyone out there is safe!

All good here! Everything's just wet....very very wet

You make it through ok Masamune? Anyone get seriously slammed?

I'm safe, no problems here. It was pretty bad for about an hour or so then it passed by. My power went out earlier in the day for some reason but not during the huge storm... :cool2:

Yes it was!! I can't help it, I REALLY like these new storms, even better than the old storms....and yes, I realize that there may be something very very wrong with me :P

I saw a friend from TN posted on facebook saying they were without power (apparently the cell towers are still working?)

I know I have seen several stand-alone cell tower sites with what is clearly a generator, next to a shack large enough to house not only the network gear but also DC battery backup. My guess is that most cell tower locations do not have this, since many are collocated at office buildings, but I bet central hub sites within a region do. These central sites are probably (sometimes I know) stationed at phone company Central Offices, which always have battery backup and often generator backup.

It appears the FCC made it mandatory for cell towers to have at least 8 hours of backup power after Hurricane Katrina:

Well, the tornadoes that the Cs predicted may actually be what is going on here and, going by the Electric Universe thing, just part of the general electric flow phenomena currently (no pun intended) afflicting the entire solar system.

Also, it might be useful to look back at 1996 and 1997 when Hale Bopp was on the approach. That's kind of when things really started to go South. There was the "flood of the century" in Poland and other places in Europe, and a bunch of other things going on. So, Elenin might be implicated in all this activity too.
