Really touching video:

The Homeless Man VS Homeless Child! (Social Experiment)

_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvoWBbYxdwc

Oh I remember seeing this a while ago...

It's really sad to see how people immediately jump to conclusion about the guy - if he's homeless, he must be lazy or something to have gotten him there. And obviously, everyone learns to hate him out of ignorance, because the homeless are always demonized as scum, drug addicts and the reason why our economy and society is so bad.

I can't imagine how he feels... Someone who at some point was giving his life in the honor of "protecting" the very same people who are beating him down now - making him feel worthless and worst then an animal. Not to mention that he might be suffering from PTSD. I cannot imagine...

I hope he stays strong...

Yes, this is very sad.... I don't understand the treatment they received from society, it is incredible. This is so shameful. Just this dramatic situation of the vets is really teaching us how America is. They are really victims and their sufferance is so big and because they are victims they are maltreated.

Thanks for sharing this story.

Yeez, it's super sad how society works in this type of issues.. and the vet man, he made me cry, how someone who has nothing will share the minimum thing with others, we have much to learn from this type of situations.

I see this everyday in Mexico, it is full with homeless people, even it's known that older people rent little kids to go search for money FOR them, not for the kids. I agree with Solie lots of times homeless people are stigmatized as scums or drug addicts, but even if they are drug addicts, we have no clue what they have been through in life..

This guys gave me goosebumps, it's nice they did this.

Thanks for sharing

I remember seeing this some months ago..... YES VERY TOUCHING!!!!

Merci Beaucoup for sharing it :)

yes, it is very sad indeed  , unfortunately TPB are imposing laws that will not allow any sympathy on any homeless at all.... I'd say bring on the meteors!! :cool2:

It is sad indeed, but be carefull as a lot of "social experiment" are staged. Some people have no qualm in performing "poverty porn" to accumulate views.

Hum I checked the subject a little bit more and found out that the crew responsible (which are also pranksters) have been caught red handed doing fake videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvoWBbYxdwc

(In this case it about a fire hydrant prank.)

I have no proof as per the actual video but there is something weird with the sound. I have saved the video (no more view for them) and watched many time the interaction with the parking enforcement officer. When she brushed the cap of the "homeless" it makes the same distorted sound as if you hit a mic. Therefore, if a mic is placed on this man, (or either of them) it could no longer be a genuine interaction.

The whole thing seemed fishy... In my opinion it is staged and those guys are simply going for the views and they capitalize on milking the indignation of people.

I need to correct my previous post, there is no brush sound but it is deep and cavernous, like a hidden mic... Sorry about that. Anyway, its weird.

Well it could be a disruption on the mic of the kid from being brushed against. Then again, it could be totally staged, but maybe that shouldn't take away from the actual message. People do usually treat homeless people badly without giving consideration to what they might have been through, or so I think.

Hey Solie,
I will be more partial, I think that if you have to lie/cheat (and benefit personally from that with somewhat 20 million of view) for a cause, you are perverting this very cause.

The message is that most people are indifferent and sometime judgemental and cruel. This is sad and revolting. I was affected.

But after the emotion, what is left? Nothing but uneasiness that soon will be forgotten.

You might be right about that Daf, although, IMO awareness is better then ignorance. At least, maybe next time, someone might think twice before being rude to a homeless person.

I think that rude people will stay rude anyway. This video is not targetting them, it targets regular people with descency and emotion in order to spread it and get more views.

In term of awareness nothing is worth the real uncut non-staged experience of simply volunteering in your local homeless shelter.

Very sad and touching. I recieved a call from a friend today who is also in a homeless situation, it made me think how anyone of us could find themselves in this situation by a simple twist of fate. Years ago I was stuck in Texas in the middle of a very hot summer. My family, which included my 2 toddlers where traveling and receiving money from our business along the way to pay for the trip. The final money to get us home didn't arrive and we ended eating at a homeless shelter. I was so impressed with the people there, friendly, caring and so giving. The best people I met on my short trip through Texas.

Hi Loreta, I dont really think this video clip shows how America is in the terms your looking at it. Most people, in this video just ignored the homeless man. Mostly they didn't look like they would be insulting, or dump food on his head, just going by surface impressions. And then, many people did make the effort to help the kid as well which shows good will. The fellow that dumped the food looked like a moron, very low intelligence level and the cop was just as bad. 2 people out of maybe a hundred.

I suppose these sweeping remarks about how bad Americans are just don't sit well with me. From my perspective this isn't what the people here, on the forum, call "objective reality". It seems to be popular outside the USA, to condemn the people of this country as a huge bunch of rotters. And I dont see this as being the truth. FWIW

I can relate to those feelings and I suggest: not all right or all wrong, certainly! Unfortunately, there's good reason for that view though, as well as for the existence of the "ugly American" slur that goes back to the days before the Vietnam war. During that same war, however, adaptable American soldiers also communicated their understanding that the Vietnamese villagers hurt just like Americans do and the Vietnamese wanted for their children just like Americans do. Seems like culture shock is always an issue involved with this meme, but those who were most willing to fully adapt themselves to their situation and circumstances were the most victorious and with the fewest number of fighters, according to the record. I think this is a case where every way to tell the story is valid, but there is no single story about Americans that represents "the truth." At least not as I understand it.

For an ex-soldier who could explain the above multi-story view as well as teach, from first-hand experience, about inflicting atrocities on others as well as making "best friends" with those whose culture you originally hated to have to deal with, the experience of someone dumping food on your head is so much more the understanding of the aggressor's idiocy and ignorance than what someone might typically think of as the victim pitying himself. That's my general view, anyway, for that particular situation.
