AMMAN – Five General Intelligence Department (GID) personnel were killed early Monday in an attack on the department's office in the Palestinian refugee camp of Baqaa, a government official announced.

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government's Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the cowardly attack on the security office in the first day of Ramadan shows the criminal behaviour of the terrorists, adding the attack took place before 7:00am.

The attack left five personnel dead, including three officers who guarded the office.

Security agencies are investigating the accident to chase and bring the assailants to justice, and will announce further details later, Momani said.

The five security personnel were identified as Sergeant Loay Al Zyoud, Corporal Hani Al Qaaideh, Corporal Omar Al Hiyari, Private Ahmad Al Harahsheh and Soldier Mahmoud Al Awamleh

Sad news, especially on a first day of a Holy Month. Some reports that two are being questioned on the attack?

Three Jordanian intelligence officers and two employees were killed in an armed attack on a security office in a Palestinian refugee camp on the outskirts of the Jordanian capital, Al Arabiya News Channel reported on Monday.

[...] Maaytah also added that the attack should not be seen as a major attack as the office was administrative in nature serving Palestinian refugees.

“There is a chase currently taking place against the perpetrators of the attack. Investigations are currently taking place. It is not sure as of yet if this was the work of organized group or a lone wolf attack,” Al Arabiya News Channel’s correspondent Ghassan Abuloz reported.

Al Arabiya sources reported that Jordanian security forces captured two attackers a few hours after the attack.

Momani said three noncommissioned officers from the guard office, a receptionist and a handyman were killed by the assailants.

He said that the crime happened on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, which indicated that the perpetrators, who are suspected to be Islamists, acted “outside of our religion.”

The Baqa'a camp is the largest facility hosting Palestinian refugees in Jordan.

The killings on Monday morning were described as a “terrorist attack” by the Jordanian media, but no details were immediately provided.

Jordan has been relatively safe from terrorist attacks despite bordering Iraq and Syria, two major sources of instability in the Middle East. The last large successful attacks in the country happened in 2005, when Al-Qaeda bombed three hotel lobbies in Amman, killing 60 people.

Jordan currently hosts an estimated 3 million Palestinian refugees, most of whom live in 10 refugee camps throughout the country.

The units will be constructed near the Qalandiya Airport area, in East Jerusalem al-Quds. The settlement bloc will include 15000 units. All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law. However, Tel Aviv is pressing ahead with its expansion projects despite international calls to stop them. More than half a million Israelis live in 230 illegal settlements built on occupied Palestinian territory.

Jordan seems to be a sensitive area because there is also a US Military base stationed in Jordan where the CIA trained terrorist.

Daesh terrorists, who were among the militants initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, now control parts of Iraq and Syria. They are engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control. In recent months, Daesh terrorists have been losing ground in both Syria and Iraq.

Meanwhile, a security source said preliminary findings suggest that the attack was carried out by a lone gunman who opened fire before escaping. It is still unclear whether the gunman was a camp resident or an outsider.

The Baqa'a camp, which hosts around 100,000 of Jordan's two million Palestinian refugees, is the largest of the kingdom's 10 official Palestinian refugee camps.

Back in 2010, three Jordanian terrorists were sentenced to prison terms of between three years and life for plotting to kill intelligence officers in the same camp.

Doesn't sound like a random attack. Maybe those 5 intel guys had stumbled on something about the "Syrian rebels" and weren't inclined to get with the program and keep their mouths shut and had to be silenced? It must be so useful to have "trrists" that you can use to take the blame for and cover up government-sponsored extra-judicial assassinations.

Who knows, maybe Mossad was involved. Apparently Israel and Jordan maintain close "security ties", especially when it comes to "Syria issues".

A suspect has been apprehended. http://www.jordantimes.com/news/local/suspect-gid-office-killings-arrested

It never occurred to me that it could be an extrajudicial killing. But stranger things have happened.
