The Box (2009 film)

Too bad. I can't wait for the day when a big Hollywood movie will come out that will be determined to reveal the truth or even some part of the truth without misleading lies and a bowl of confusion.

Have you ever watched V for Vendetta?

I like it a lot anyhow. :D

Ok, V for Vendetta being one of the exceptions. I loved that film.
What I meant was that I'm waiting for a movie, a big budget movie that's absolutely obvious for everyone what it's about. Something that would at least make people think about our situation on this marble in 3D as a whole. A movie that includes almost everything if not everything. I can't wait for that to happen.

As far as I am concern, the Matrix did that job very well.

The only problem is although the message was very clear, if someone does not want to see it, he will not see it.

The Matrix did a pretty good job. It did reveal a lot but for most people, it's just a creative sci-fi movie. I was talking about a movie that people will not only view as a science-fiction movie but as a science-fact film. One that is simple and clear. I know people who didn't get the Matrix even after watching it over and over.
I only got it the third time I watched it but I was 10 and barely spoke any English.

Of course my previous description was not complete of the movie I'm waiting for and probably this one is not either.

Good movie, I kind of wanted to cry at the end.

I have seen that the project awakening is taking its steps, because first all movies and videogames kind of take the topic about aliens. Like gears of war or well, others...

But now there are kind of new games and movies that are not so complex, obviously becuz is for the usual people, but, they have mor trama

Like this movie, The Origins, the fourth kind or in the videogames Heavy Rain from the group "quantum dream" or Alan Wake that introduce fun and original concepts in these area.

I did not like the movie either. I think the plot was weak and amount of creepiness was unnecessary to make a point (i.e consequences of our actions).
What I also did not like was this statement that we (as a human race) are not only being watched and tested, but They, whoever they are can judge us and our actions and do whatever they want with us. Kind of sounds like the usual garbage from our 4D STS "friends".

It was weird, a few references about aliens (?), other dimensions, mind control and government agencies which was interesting.

I liked it overall but I wasn't too thrilled on the pseudo choices the old man gave at the end between the mother's death or disability for the son...
And as Away with the Fairy said, only women push the button and suffer an awful end.

Which makes me wonder, what is the idea behind the various disability in the movie ?

I wonder about that, too. Maybe it's one of those films (and there are many of them lately), which are designed to prepare us for something. Like, perhaps, when out false gods finally reveal themselves and come out in the open.

Btw, the music was hella irritating :scared:

There were some good messages in there, riddled with a lot of loose ends and the odd reference (Random flash of the WTC.) There was a definite reference to our salvation being based on whether we are able to refrain from our selfish desires which i thought drew some parallels to the ideas being discussed here. The movie kept me intrigued, but i was let down by the lack of resolution.

Not quite up to par with V for Vendetta or The Matrix when it comes to exposing the underlying truth that many are unaware of, but i did find the rare nugget of gold in there.

Watched this at the weekend. Was hard work and the message was a rather obvious one - that people care far more about money than human life.

I actualy acted the part of the husband in an adaptation from the Twilight Zone version (for an audience) about 8 years ago. That being said, I didn't care for "The Box" version.

When studying our parts, it was interesting to go through the "logic" the characters used in the script.

It was based on the premis "someone you've never met, a complete stranger, will die"

They went through "what if the person was really old and is about to die anyway". "what if they were a criminal or a horrible person".

When that didn't settle it for them, they looked at the money and what they could do with it to justify the means. "we could build orphanages" "we could pay for someone's surgery and save a life" "we could save hundreds of lives"

In our version the money amount was $100,000,000.

After the back and forth they started to convince themselves that this was all a trick and they were being filmed or someone was just messing with them. So showing outward defiance that it was a hoax (while inward hoping the money was real). They pushed the button. Then in a nervous cocky attitude said "I new it wasn't real" ...until the knock at the door.

They rejoiced when seeing the money and thought it was all worth it. As the lady (in our version) picked up the box to walk out, my character asked "So what are you going to do with the box now?" She said "Oh I'll do with it what I always do, give to someone else, a complete stanger, someone who's never met YOU."
