I found this movie some days ago. Quickly call my attention the short summary:
Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature.(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1160996/?ref_=nv_sr_1)
I saw the movie and it not seem remarkable, though some details could be noted:

- An ice age: Though in the movie, this ice age seem to be caused for the wish of mankind of dominate the climate, it is remarkable that the authors have thought in this sort of disorder climate and not in global warming or another more "mainstream" disasters...

- Cannibals: the movie do not seem explain where did the cannibals arise, but seem very interesting that they consider this possibility. The cannibals are shown as murderous beasts, as a predatory "race".

- Bad flu: the humans seem to be suffering a too strong flu that has decimated the colonies.

The movie, for me, is not "a valuable piece of art" but it seem to have some "small brushstrokes" of truth, in special in regard to likely futures scenarios.

It's with Laurence Fishburne ... I like this actor ...

Yes, there is a lot of Ice-Age Stuff going on lately, just popping up out of nowhere.

Here is a list with apocalyptic movies:

Edited: Did not want to offend anyone.

I watched this one awhile ago.
The two head men in charge of the "colony" were both ex- military.
They had been at this other colony until the soldiers went rabid and began dragging away and butchering people for food.

They tried, but couldn`t stop them, so they got away taking as many people with them as they could, forming a second colony and keeping it as "human" as possible until someone got a flu of which they had no cure.

In order for the flu not to spread through the colony a victim had the choice of a quick bullet, or a long walk off into the snow.

The movie wasn`t to bad until the first "soldiers colony" ran out of "food" again and began attacking a second nearby colony whom our "hero`s went to help. At that point it became just another sick zombie type thing of blood and violent nonsense.

It ended with a few survivors trekking off through the snow with a bag of seed in search of a somewhat "mythical" colony where people had learned to melt the snow down to soil and had a temperate climate, but no seed. It could have been a decent movie, but played way to much on the blood and gore aspect, for my taste anyway.

I agree with you there. I've watched it a few weeks ago and overall, I didn't like it. It became another zombie movie. However, what I do like about it is the struggle that people was dealing with during the ice age and how children forgotten what it's like before the cold. If you take out the zombie movie and focus more on character development and the struggles - it might have been a good film. For me, what was scary was the fact that if someone had a flu within the colony, they have two choices and both leads to death.

I don´t see the movie yet. But think it's a smart way to send a message about the big changes coming through the film, others made the same too. Use a trite argument and give more layers of meanings for thoughtful people. I do not really like the zombie or gore genre, but well, it is an industry and need to recover their investment and make money (and perhaps laundering money too).

When the internal logic of a script is bad I lose patience with the other elements of a movie that may be entertaining.

Killing them AFTER they have come down with symptoms is not very useful as they have already spread their germs to the others--especially if everyone is
living in close contact with each other. But I suppose it is a way to "weed out" people with compromised immune systems and create more drama.

Of course here I am critiquing a movie I have not seen  something that I usually disapprove of in others.-- :P Oh well.

It is an interesting collection of plot points--ice age survivalists and killer flu. There does seem to be an increase in these types of end-of-the-world as we
know it movies. There is the retelling of Noah's story coming up soon with comets preceding the Flood . . .

Either some people high up in film production/politics are leaking "preparatory" info or humans at large are getting subconscious readings from the "aether" of
impending doom--or more likely--both.

Yes, although for the low diffusion of the movie and poor display in cinemas, I am inclined to the last option...
