It's difficult to imagine the 'death of consumerism' here in the Temple of Selfish Consumerism [US] as voluntary...
If you've been following our politics you would know that the American Sheeple in their collective idiocy elected the Marxist Obama to lead this 'new monarchy'. The government has been systematically redistributing wealth and nationalizing businesses. The US national Debt is beyond comprehension and far beyond what can realistically be explained...or paid back.
The US government is spending money almost like they know they will never need to pay it back...Frightening?

When you have no job and no money and no place to live, it's difficult to justify going to the mall!
If you still have a home to live in, it's cheaper to simply watch the digital flat panel TV you bought with George Bush's Tax Stimulus money.
The digital subliminal programming lets you ignore the economic and social problems happening around you.

I found the pictures interesting as a sign of the times!
With the increase in bankruptcies, foreclosures and unemployment there are no shoppers left.
This starts the downward spiral.
