The $%$$&%$@ next door

Mountain Crown

The Living Force
The pathological in the apartment next door is beating his wife and screaming at the top of his lungs. There's a new born girl there too. It's not the first time.

I'm having real problems with this.

Is there any good reason not to call the police?

It's been unclear as to the severity of the violence. The third element is unclear as well. He just stormed out.

Isn't that what calling the police would hopefully establish?

It's interesting that that was the first thing I thought to do, and something in me delayed it. Like the fear of retaliation when I'm at work, or interfering and other crap.

How would you answer this question:

Heinz's Dilemma

Heinz's wife is dying from a rare form of cancer. According to the doctors, there is one drug that could save her, a radium compound that a druggist in Heinz's town has recently discovered. The ingredients for the drug are expensive to begin with, and the druggist is charging ten times what it costs him to make the medicine. The druggist pays two hundred dollars for the radium and charges his customers two thousand dollars for a small dose. Heinz goes to everyone he can think of and asks to borrow money. Still, he ends up with only about one thousand dollars. Heinz explains to the druggist that his wife will die without the drug, and asks him to sell the medicine at a cheaper price or to take payment later. But the druggist replies, "No, I discovered the drug, and I'm going to make money from it." Heinz becomes desperate. He breaks into the druggist's store and steals the drug for his wife.

Should Heinz have done that?

Heinz was faced only with what would be the right thing to do to act on his wife's behalf. Since he could obtain the medicine, he did.

I think I know what was really troubling me.

Hi Mountain Crown,

unfortunately I don't know anything about the -laws- of the country you are living in, that means especially for the Youth welfare office. But imo it is important in doing something, contacting the police, the youth welfare office... before the kid and mother are getting into more trouble, traumas etc.

What else is then happening, if the mother and the kid is leaving, staying etc. cannot be predicted.

Just my 2 cents.

You neglected to answer the question posed by Perceval:

I had to sing in a concert last night and couldn't reply until now.

This is also my concern, and I will educate myself on the law.

So have you called the police?

No. When I was responding to Perceval he stormed out the door and she ran out after him. Then I had to leave as well. Upon my return late last night they were outside smoking. I failed to notice any injuries, but that's not conclusive.

I was implying that Heinz should have done it.

Is it possible that the real problem was just the possible consequences for you?
Is it possible that the real problem was just the possible consequences for you?
Yes. I have a wife and step-son here that I'm responsible for. My conscience bothers me that my present state of evolution is such that I can't act. Please understand this is profoundly upsetting.
