The Situation in Mexico

With the energy resources of Russia denied to the West, the Empire has taken on the task of seeking the resources of other countries "by hook or by crook", such is the case of Mexico whose energy policies of the government of President López Obrador are affecting to American businessmen.

Last January, Businessmen asked his officials for more aggression in their actions against the electrical reform that is being debated in Mexico.

In a letter sent to the Secretary of State (Anthony Blinken) and the Secretary of Energy (Jennifer Granholm), four Democratic senators who are members of the Foreign Relations Committee asked to put a stop to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's electricity reform proposal, with which Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) will have more power in the national electricity market. Shortly after, the Mexican government highlighted that power groups in the United States were financing campaigns against the Fourth Mexican Transformation (4T)

There is a non-legal, non-legitimate power that stands as a pressure group to confront the transformation movements; They are the potentates who come together to attack, slander, destroy, denounced President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Once he finished his complaint, he announced that “if necessary, I am going to present it to President Joe Biden, because the entire campaign against us is being financed by influence peddlers from Mexico who sold medicines, businessmen who did not pay taxes and also by the United States government, which gives money to these associations, such as that of Claudio X. González. That is an interventionist attitude! No foreign government should intervene in the affairs of the country."

In the first days of the war between Russia and Ukraine, President Obrador expressed his desire that Mexico remain neutral, for which he mentioned that the country would not impose sanctions on Russia and criticized the censorship of the Russian media.

This action attracted the attention of the so-called European Parliament and began a campaign against the 4T using the murder of journalists as a pretext.

On Thursday more than 600 MEPs overwhelmingly backed a resolution condemning the murders and voicing concern over López Obrador’s use of populist rhetoric “to denigrate and intimidate independent journalists, media owners and activists”.
:rotfl:
Such behaviour was contributing to “an atmosphere of relentless unrest towards independent journalists”, the MEPs claimed, calling for “concrete, prompt and effective” steps to halt violence against human rights defenders and journalists.

"It is unfortunate that they join like sheep in the reactionary and coup strategy of the corrupt group that opposes the Fourth Transformation, promoted by millions of Mexicans to confront the monstrous inequality and violence inherited by the neoliberal economic policy that was imposed for 36 years in our country”, said the Mexican President in response to the resolution of the European Parliament.

It is to be expected that if the conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensifies, so will the interventionist policies of the Empire in countries with energy resources such as Mexico and Venezuela.

He's not perfect by any means but light years ahead of most politicians.
He's been trying to fight the deep state, on the media, corrupt politician, NGO's and corporation fronts and even mentioned it's a global phenomenon.
He's a good strategist and seems to be on the population's side on most issues. I often wonder if he knows how deep the rabbit hole is.

While President Biden promotes the energy policy of clean energy, President López Obrador promotes an opposite policy through the construction of Oil Refineries.

For this reason, at the beginning of February, President Biden sent to Mexico the United States Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry who urged Mexico to accelerate the transition to clean energy and gradually stop using fossil fuels.

"John Kerry's great concern is to accelerate the move towards clean energies: electromobility, increase the production of energy of all kinds, electric, or energies that do not consume fossil fuels", said Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón.

This transition to clean energy seems to have no urgency for the Fourth Transformation of the Mexican president and in fact, with the conflict in Ukraine, the price of gasoline has not undergone major changes. The price of gasoline in Mexico City is an average of 1.29 dollars/liter (4.88 gallon) while the price of gasoline in the border city of Tijuana is an average of 1.10 dollars/liter (4.16 gallon)

This has caused north american residents in border cities to go to Mexico to refuel their cars. In San Diego California we can see how the price of fuel has skyrocketed in recent weeks. There are some cases in which the highest octane, of the Chevron brand, reaches 6.49 dollars per gallon, while diesel is sold up to 6.59.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador boasted that thanks to the energy policy of his administration, despite the war crisis between Russia and Ukraine, which has skyrocketed the prices of crude oil and gasoline in the world, Mexico can maintain affordable prices for consumers, which they are not seen in other countries like the United States or Germany.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador insisted that his government will not increase fuel prices (gasoline, diesel, gas and electricity), due to the situation of the war between Ukraine and Russia.

President Andres Manuel referred to the fact that when “we came to the government, only two of the six refineries were operating, we now have six operating, and we are now operating at 76 percent of their capacity, and what we want is to improve their productive capacity, produce more gasoline plus diesel. That is why the plants are being modernized..."

Amlo is in fact a stone in the shoe for the "green" interests of the Empire.

He is a stone in the shoe for many, included the Mexicans, Mexico cant afford to keep prices down, they are losing money just to make AMLO look good for the 10th of april when he is specting to be re-elected. All I can see is Mexico going down very very quckly.

Dont get me wrong, he is pro Oil and Crude, he is against clean energy, but not for the same reasons we do.

The 10th of april is a nothing burger.

The average mexican is not interested in the revocation of the President's mandate. Maybe the "panazis" or Claudio X are worried, the others are not.

Almo has my respect. As he's filling the void of previous administration's that seemed to be aliened with the CIA and the cartels.

And I agree he's not perfect but who is. Though his popularity within the country vacillates, he does what's best for the people, and the country of Mexico. And it is a very big challenge, (IMHO).

And like Russia the current president of Mexico try's to keep out those elements that would rape the country of it's natural resource's, and undermined it's capacity to thrive. Unlike the socialist dictate being witnessed in the USA today.

He's not trying to get reelected. There's no presidential reelection in Mexico.
He got voted in for 6 years (2018-2024)
April 10 It's a midterm "review" of his performance as president. If enough people are not happy with him, he can get kicked out of office halfway thru his term (3 years in)
He's the first president in Mexico being submitted to this "review"
Which funny enough is an exercise he made into constitutional law, and the opposition parties kept delaying and postponing.

We're paying roughly $4.30usd/gal for gas here atm (Jalisco). About the same as Arizona, I believe. Not necessarily low for an oil producer.

Most folks I know, though they might side with an opposition party, do have some respect for what Amlo is trying to accomplish. In theory anyway.

As for "pro-oil": Maybe he understands that things just can't go Green overnight without jeapardizing the lives of many working-class citizens(the majority). Being President, he is supposed to represent "the people". Imo, he does a decent job. MSM will disagree....

Most countries who produce/sell oil could be considered "pro oil".

Making a stand to NOT agree with the u.s on sactions is but one example of him standing up to the PTB and their plans. He no doubt walks the razor's edge.

If, for some reason he is voted out of office, I'd be suspicious. (usually am anyway) 😎

AMLO is such an interesting figure, even through the whole pandemic situation his stance was a lot more rational than I expected out of Mexico.

He didn't go full frontal like Bolsonaro, but he was rational and sensible about it. He's got a few pitfalls in which I am not a fan, but in the balance sheet, he comes out on the positive side of things for me. He has been progressive and nationalistic without going full Maduro (Venezuela) and managed to remain open to the world, without sacrificing a lot of his integrity.

And people in Mexico, in my experience, are really fond of him, some of them call him "el viejito Santo" the little old saint.

And AMLO has stated that Mexico will be self-sufficient for oil by next year, after years of being dependent on US for extra supply. Add on top of that the drum is beating from a distance on the US asking for oil, though categorically denied so far. And what to do about the never-before-seen weird commentary by the European parliament "urging" AMLO to tone down his "media-bashing rhetoric"? Its all funny business so far, strange as it is but in line with the overall strangeness of geo-politics, so let's wait and see.

Yep. In fact One of the arguments used by the opposition during Amlo's campaign for the presidency was that he was going to turn Mexico into a copy of Venezuela. This with the aim of instilling fear in voters. This fear campaign was very successful in 2012.

Amlo is very well accepted among the elderly, since he has granted them a lifetime pension called a "pension for well-being". There are elderly people in Mexico who receive this pension and another one granted by Social Security. Past governments never wanted to give this pension to the elderly because according to them it would affect the country's economy

In some places they call Amlo "tata" (father) "cabecita de algodón" (cotton little head) or "peje", which is a kind of fish typical of Tabasco, where the president is from.

I've read somewhere (can't find where anymore) that the Mexican president is trying to negotiate a sort of common trade zone for hispanoamerica, with Argentina I think. If his intent is to be independent from the US finances in the long run, it is probable that he will encounter some manufactured crises quite soon.

Unfortunately we are already seeing glimpses of a color revolution in Mexico.

Regarding the union with Argentina:

The Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, proposed to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador the creation of an alliance between Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, which he named MBA.
In a letter dated March 9 and released on Sunday night by López Obrador, the Argentine president proposed the creation of an axis between both countries and Brazil, in the event that Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is elected as president in October this year. Lula already governed the country between 2003 and 2010.
"an axis around which the politics of the region could be walked in pursuit of a better democratic quality and above all in a fairer distribution of income. We must never forget that we live in the most unequal continent in the world," Fernández assured...
