So is ours (Australia), oh and so is Canada's! By no means feel isolated in this. It seems to be a "club" of sorts. I'm wondering where I should be moving to. Perhaps New Zealand? Or maybe an African country? The Commonwealth in reverse? Our prime minister is a bit cringe!
Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service has been receiving reports indicating that the UK intelligence agencies are planning to involve NATO allies to launch a massive raid on the so-called shadow fleet.
London intends to use a resonating incident with one or several tankers for launching this campaign. This plan provides for a major act of sabotage so that the resulting damage can be used as the pretext for Russia's oil shipments to be dubbed a threat to international maritime navigation. This would, in turn, give the West a free hand in taking countermeasures. They can go as far as detaining any vessels deemed suspicious in international waters and escorting them to ports in NATO countries.
The Britons are considering the two options as possible casus belli.
I like Paraguay - easy papers, very low taxes, stable with the same conservative party in power for decades, relatively low crime, lots of expats, Western culture where you do not stand out much, electricity is 100% water power (more independence), only half of the population uses banks, etc. It is currently one of the countries that offers the most freedom in my view.I'm wondering where I should be moving to. Perhaps New Zealand? Or maybe an African country? The Commonwealth in reverse?
I'd agree with this but I think it's clear over here in the UK there's a massive disconnect from the public and those leading us.According to british media, Starmer is "seriously considering" introducing a digital ID system to tackle immigration. Have a goal, create a problem, and introduce the goal as a solution to the problem. Digital ID + net zero carbon + vaccines, thought crimes, programmable money, etc. is a dream come true for the elite. It's following the same progression as in the EU and in the US, although the local problems are phrased slightly differently.
The one-minute Oliver!-style musical satire, titled “Everything Is Fine,” depicts leaky ceilings, empty supermarkets, and sky-high prices before cutting to a tagline urging viewers to update the system.
“The traditional financial system is not working for many people and crypto represents a way to improve that,” Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong wrote on X, adding that any attempt to “censor” the spot would only amplify its reach.
Armstrong’s framing of the matter suggests that the U.K.’s advertising regulator may have been involved in the ad’s takedown. While TV networks can reject commercials, a formal ruling from the Advertising Standards Authority is the only mechanism that legally bans them. Under the broadcast code, the ASA can force broadcasters to pull ads it deems misleading or harmful, and persistent offenders can be referred to trading standards authorities for further action.
The incident lands in the middle of a policy debate over how quickly the U.K. should embrace digital assets. Former Conservative chancellor George Osborne, who joined Coinbase’s global advisory council last year, warned in an op-ed that the government’s cautious line has left Britain “playing catch-up” with the U.S., EU, and Asia on crypto rule-making.
Wintermute founder and CEO Evgeny Gaevoy called the ad a “mistake and a missed opportunity,” arguing that Coinbase should have focused on cyberspace laws and crypto’s cypherpunk value rather than a “hyperbolic depiction of everything wrong.”
Its difficult to see anyone buying into this. The current governments actions against migration gives the air of “we’ve tried nothing and we are all out of ideas.” There is not enough trust in the government when it comes to migration (or anything for that matter) to suddenly pull out digital ID slave state as the solution to the problem. It would be like trying to do a sprinting leap before you learnt to walk.According to british media, Starmer is "seriously considering" introducing a digital ID system to tackle immigration. They seem to be arguing this will not only help address illegal immigration but public services like the NHS (National Health Service) which are overwhelmed by issues in part due to (but not only) the population increase. I would imagine the argument for helping public services will carry more weight than the migrant argument due to the complete lack of trust on that issue.'The prime minister is seriously considering introducing a universal digital ID system as a way of tackling illegal immigration and improving the delivery of public services.![]()
‘This is serious’: Starmer orders move towards digital ID...
Scheme aims to tackle illegal immigration and crime despite past concern over civil libertiesobserver.co.uk
Cabinet ministers say Keir Starmer has become increasingly convinced of the need to harness the power of technology to drive Whitehall efficiency, bear down on fraud and transform the relationship between citizens and the state.’
. . .
‘A new internal paper by the Tony Blair Institute on the role of technology in government, commissioned by Morgan McSweeney, Starmer’s chief of staff, is understood to be “forceful” in pressing the case for digital ID as a way of meeting voters’ demands and heading off the threat from Reform UK.
Blair introduced legislation to bring in compulsory ID cards when he was prime minister, but the scheme was scrapped by the coalition government following a backlash from civil liberties campaigners.’
. . .
‘A report from the Starmerite think tank Labour Together recently called for No 10 to make digital ID a “top prime ministerial priority” and begin a “fundamental transformation in the way British citizens interact with the government”.
No 10 strategists are convinced that public opinion has shifted since the last Labour government proposed ID cards and that voters would be broadly supportive of a digital system that made accessing the public services more convenient.
A poll for More in Common last year found 53% of people backing digital IDs, with only 19% opposed. Six former home secretaries have urged the government to introduce a universal system to drive efficiency in the public sector, cut fraud and tackle illegal immigration.’
A short article from the Coventry telegraph, which is closer to the majority of articles I could find covering the subject.Yobs damage 41 cars during vandalism rampage in sleepy market town
Police are hunting mindless yobs who caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to 41 cars after going on a wrecking spree in a town. The vandals went on the rampage in a quiet residential neighbourhood in the Overslade area of Rugby, Warwickshire., over the weekend.
Devastated homeowners awoke on the morning of Sunday, August 3, to find their vehicle windows smashed in and spray painted with green paint. The cruel crooks targeted the cars between 12am and 2am along Saunton Road, Westbourne Grove and Wentworth Road.
Some had their front and back windows smashed while other vehicles were painted with bizarre phrases such as 'Help' and 'We R Here'. Warwickshire Police has since launched an investigation and released CCTV of two people they are looking to trace. The investigation comes as a vile family of 10 scoffed down hundreds of pounds of food and drink at a family restaurant before shamelessly fleeing in brazen dine and dash.
Chief inspector Angus Eagles, policing commander for Rugby, said: “This incident has understandably caused a lot of anguish in the local community, and we have launched a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
“One of the people we would like to speak to was wearing a distinctive top which we believe to be the Off White brand. There’s an image of the top below, I appreciate it’s not the best, but we’re hoping someone can help us identify the owner.
"Our CCTV enquiries are ongoing. We're continuing our enquiries and appeal for anyone with CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage from the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with us.”
One resident, who did not want to be named, said: "It is usually so quiet and peaceful around here, we don't even get any noise issues.
"I woke up to find someone had written 'help' on my Toyota. Others had hearts or 'hi' and 'we are here' daubed over their vehicles - it was very bizarre. Our insurance will cover it but I was gutted as I've only had it two years and it was brand new.
"My partner managed to scrub the paint off but it has still ruined the body work. They broke the front and back windows of some cars, I have not idea what they were thinking.
"It was just mindless but they came in masks so they were prepared for what they were going to do. It was definitely premeditated. I think by the way one moved and the style writing it could have been a girl who did the painting. They must have caused thousands of pounds of damage."
