Thanks, I adore this guy, he nearly always makes me cry by the simple beauty of it.

By far his biggest claim to fame is "Don't Worry, Be Happy". for which he won "Song of the Year" at the Grammys. Normally the winner thanks their lawyers, family and god and so forth, but his acceptance speech was almost apologetic, as if he genuinely believed that he did not deserve it. IMHO it was a well deserved award. What I found so interesting about the song is that it is music in its purest sense, the "simple" sound of the human voice. It is a catchy tune, easy to learn and maddeningly infectious in that "I can't get this song out of my head" kind of way. But Bobby McFerrin is unique in his ability to create multi-layered sounds with only his voice.
I have a CD of his ("Hush") where he "plays" with Yo Yo Ma and it is glorious to hear him perform "Sonata For 2 Cellos" and his tour de force on "The Flight Of The Bumblebee" where if you were not paying attention, or you just did not know, you might not even realize that what you were hearing was someone singing.
His playfulness comes out during Musette where he has this really stuffy "Classical Music Snob" introduction and then launches into "Purple Haze"...
