Things are deteriorating fast where I live

Things are deteriorating fast where I live. The same is happening to the rest of the world, but nothings compare when it touches you as my case.
This last pair of weeks I have seen a direct or indirect witness of “intense” acts. These always exist, but this time the states of the things especially in the streets are turning very dangerous. Despite being attentive to the news often these things happen outside my circle but this time I have seen it face to face.

- First, Schools here are used as polling centers in elections, and I have a pupil from the university that works as teacher in one of them that was selected for that purpose by government. The school is guarded by military. She tells me that a member of the staff of the national electoral council, well dressed and with identification, with gun in hand steal an android phone for one student. She complains with the military and they didn't do anything. The man continued doing his works as nothing happened. The student complains so much with the functionary that he had to return the phone, not before threatening her that he knows where her family lives.. In the same high school a scandal broke because a military of those I am referring above rape a girl of 12 years. The classes were suspended because another military was hanging around other girls and because students are getting aggressive because the carnival celebrations, when they throw each other eggs and where there are school wars.
- Few days ago near my house a drug man threw his wife off the balcony. I saw the crowd surrounding the event but could not stop to see.

- I and some relatives almost got kidnapted/stolen as I tell here http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,30419.msg396704.html#msg396704

- Yesterday , My aunt's sister almost get his car robbed by three gunmen in motorcycle, in similar conditions, but she manage to evade in the same way we did it. They left a “hole” and she achieves to escape.

- Food scarcity arouses to 20 % according to official numbers and it is not only food but also toilet paper, toothpaste, dishwasher, etc. Food prices doubled since December. No butter, rice, oils. No spare parts for cars. We had an intermittent scarcity but now it seems more “permanent”

- The last, yesterday our currency was devalued 32 %, so basically our salary was cut a third from one day to another.

I can “live” with economical problems, and personal insecurity at some extent but this is reaching astronautically levels, every single day I heard something bad happen to somebody, somebody get robbed or murdered. We need definitively a cleaning!

Good grief Galaxia2002, with food scarcity and the devaluation of the currency alone, and with the apparent social disorder that this is sure to create, or in fact is now creating, is not comforting. I am sure you would have relocated if you could have and hope you can keep surrounded with friends and family and find some way to cope with these hardships.

Keep checking in and take good care.

Hi Galaxia,

It is saddening to hear how fast things have deteriorated where you are and in many parts of the world, in their own way, such as in Japan. It's good you are applying what the C's have taught us about watching out left and right to objective reality to help us wade through these trying times. The coming stepping-down of the pope might be another signal of further deterioration in the area of religion if predictions are to be believed...Never before has there been so much pressure and expectation of what the next pope should do about the on-going scandals in the catholic chuch, but all that is just wishful thinking and we know how that outcome will be played out. I fully agree with you about the inevitable cleansing... Let us all brace ourselves for the worse to come.

Hi Galaxia2002.

In Philistine & Genius, Boris Sidis asserted that man is bat-blind to the evils in the environment in which he's bred--even to the point of finding good reasons to justify these evils as edifying and elevating instead of revealing a moral nakedness. After providing loads of examples to back up the assertion, he says the truth is that there is only a thin varnish of humaneness glossing over a rude barbarism. This was in 1911 and his examples go as far back as the Gladiator games!

It looks like this varnish is wearing even thinner where you're at. Is there no way you can move to someplace safer for now?

Hi Buddy, right now there is not chance to do that. Maybe at medium - long term. Something that have help me all those years where there have always be robberies and murders is to be very conscious that I can be the next in line and the I am not in any way special nor protected. I really think that way of seeing the situation together with praying have prevented me to be a victim but maybe I have lower the guard? or forget something? Maybe I can lower the chances to be a victim but the probability is always there..
I have seen with my eyes that thinner that varnish you are referring. I have noted also that people here is becoming less educated, more aggressive, lazy, narcissist, no respect, it is a disaster..

Galaxia2002 - I know you say that moving is not possible right now but it may serve you well to make good plans with family and trusted friends - plans that you can implement quickly if the need arises. Start with the "where to go" and any options. If necessary, scout out the options. Then work the "how" and what you will need to take with you. Have everything ready to go quickly and someone at the "where" that you can contact and can be expecting you. Having a good plan can also improve your outlook and ability to deal with the present.

It has been the experience of many in the past, that waiting too long can bring disaster.

Hi there Galaxy2002, this is a worst thing that could happen to a city or like your place. It is very painful in your part that someone is being killed even though this is not your love one. What actions are your leaders in the community doing? How about the children? The government should take action on this case because if they didn't, many lives will be loss. Also many will be getting unemployed because they may be frightened to go to work because of all this things. Take extra careful, I'll be praying for you and your community.

Hi crissmith,

Welcome to the forum. We recommend that new forum members write a little bit about themselves in the Newbies Section. It does not have to be personal, just a little about you and how you found the forum. If you are not sure of what to write, just look at what others have written to help get you started. :)

Are you already taking steps for this possibility, even if it is medium - long term? Maybe there is something you have missed? Keep your eyes open and take good care!

Im sorry that your are living throught this difficult situation :hug2:, think this phenomena is not only in your place the last year we had a peak in security, the drug trafficking are gaining force through all the region, food prices are 200% higher than the 2011 , high interest rates for loans that created a poor money recovery by the banks, the inflation, the unemployment will increase , taxes for everything, taxes in our salary which made less money that we received , and not talk about laws….how they´ve changed and increased them to their favor (goverment), there are so much ponerology in the society.

Thank you all for your suggestions! The only step I am taking is finish as soon as possible to write my thesis, get my grade that I think will allow me to get out of the country. The next pass in finish my English course, long paused, but I really haven't thought in more than that. I have Brazil in my mind where they are looking at people of my occupation. I am starting to learn and practice canning food too because we don't know that could happen.

Is Brazil any better? I am asking, because I don't know.
Could you finish your thesis in Brazil and travel to your home country, only if necessary? Could you make some arrangements maybe?

I am reading 'Defying Hitler' by Sebastian Haffner ATM, as a way to prepare myself mentally. He also writes about that terrible hyperinflation that Germany suffered in 1923.
I also read Laura's article 'Chaos and Consent: The Logistics of One World Government'.
We have a bag with some essentials, first aid kit, fire tools, tinned sardines and so on. We live near the sea, so in the event that a tsunami might hit we can hopefully escape. My eldest son has read a book about survival skills.

Canning is not difficult and you might also want to can some broth and lard. Can you still get some meat?

Hang in there, Galaxia. Please keep us posted.

Yeah, maybe at the Uni they might be able to tell. It couldn't hurt to inquire, lots of Unis give the option to do the last year or at least a few months abroad.
