This guy has eaten only raw meat for the past five years

In England game was always eaten 'well hung'. (a phrase that nowadays crops up else-where). I was told that the idea was that the (dead) pheasant was hung from from a string round its neck and not eaten until the body dropped away.

We tried that this year (though not to the point of the head separating) with some geese that we got during hunting season. The smell was so overpowering, none of us could eat it. We tried a bite, and never got sick from it, but the smell stayed in the house for days. If I eat game bird again next year it will NOT be hung...

My overall impression from this article is that when people get down to eating just one thing, as long as that thing isn't processed/wheat/chemical/etc. their bodies respond favorably at first because of the absence of all the bad things they had been eating. However over the long term, the negative consequences will present.

I have a friend who used to be a fairly violent person (bar fights, etc.). He changed to a vegetarian diet and quit drinking, and is a completely different person by all rights. Obviously the veggie diet is and will not be good for him, but I notice this sort of "honeymoon period" where the absence of the bad diet (and alcohol) results in apparently positive effects.

I think also that possibly the willpower to change a habit can be a force in itself for healing. (?) Just to be clear, I mean this in the short-term... So, meat-man from the article may be feeling great now, but not-so-great in another five to ten years, perhaps.

He looks young, but not THAT healthy... Notice how his hair looks like he lacks some nutrients, and his eyes are puffy. Good for him that he feels better. But that is probably from ditching all the carbs.

I think it's kind of an insult to our paleo ancestors to always imagine them as primitive cavemen who could only eat raw meat. I bet they had pretty nice meals very often! Not to mention that they got smarter when they started cooking. If the human body wasn't designed for this, then their brains would have deteriorated.

Whenever someone becomes a bit famous for a specific diet, I always wonder what that person actually does with his or her life. It would give us more clues as to whether it is healthy for the mind, the body and the spirit. But this article, like many others, don't say anything about that, unless we want to consider the comment about the vegetarian girlfriend! ;)

I saw it some time back on FB and had a similar thought that he doesn't look that good, beside a bit repulsive but this may be due to the media and it's pictures. Eventually to digest raw meat you may need a good working stomach, beside the other arguments that more healthy ingredients are in meat that is cooked.
Really he doesn't look good. It's like a distorted image or caricature of ketogenic / paleo diet, he knows it or not.
