Aya said:Possibly, it seems like America's intention from the beginning to make sure that Japan keeps conflict with other countries. Look how they have set up situations to fight over the islands between Japan and surrounded countries, in order to make sure that Japan chained to America and stay royal: Kunashiri-island and Etorofu-Island over Russia, Takeshima-island over Korea, and Senkaku-islands over China. Japan wanted to settle the conflict on the islands over Russia a long time ago, but America threatened to take over Okinawa-island if Japan had given up the two islands.
I see it from another angle. All governments are working together to distract from the true matter. In this case the Fukushima disaster. It was the biggest demonstration in Japan ever. With 170.000 people in July 16. Nothing changed after it, but the organisators said they come back with even more public. Then, as Noda was PM, he went to visit China. I remember clear the Chinese and Japanese PM had a nice talk. They simply needed something big enough to put people in fear, to forget the Fukushima story. It was the islands conflict, not new but just to let the people remember that they need the government to protect them from the aggressive china. it worked out.
That's how it is.Aya said:I think a lot of people do care, but they are afraid to speak up. It is our culture for most people to blend in and not to stir or cause troubles in the community. I am sure that you know what I mean, a lot of Japanese people have a fear to be "different".
I second that.Aya said:As for voting, our votes do not directly influence who gets to be the prime minister as it is decided by the members of Parliament, so the election is really just a show osit.
Edit: changed name from Aso to Noda.
