Here is my own little tribute to planet earth, in particular a little spot on the edge of the Black Forest. The pictures were taken during three different walks. This forest and this ruin really touched me. So many little things along the way, a bit like a fairytale forest.

''Blue electric lava'' erupts at Kawah Ijen volcano, Indonesia.

Only in Java, Indonesia, at the Kawah Ijen volcano. This lava isn't exactly blue in itself, but instead the the combustion of sulfuric gases in contact with air at temperatures above 360°C make it appear blue. Exposed to the oxygen present in air and sparked by lava, the sulfur burns readily, and its flames are bright blue during the night.
