Watching the news the last two weeks has been dizzying - It's looking like Trump is actually getting a lot done with respect to what the majority wanted - deporting violent criminal illegal immigrants, strengthening boarder security, standing down funds for foreign wars (minus Israel, obviously :/ ) - but you can also see the network of influence / coercion that was built and used to subjugate foreign nations being somewhat dismantled (USAID, etc) - although I'm sure the more, uh covert, means of subjugation still remain intact. Still, I am enjoying it but trying to "keep my guard up" - we know who really runs the show, it's just now they are rearranging the chairs.

Ditto. This is better than any adventure movie I've ever seen in my 69 years of dedicated movie going. I'm starting to see my present life on the BBM as a gift from the universe. It's like having a front row seat watching a major event in human history unfold.

This was kind of brilliant, the cartels are a plight on Mexico and getting their government to take it seriously and put some money behind fighting it, and not just that but getting Canada in on it too... the message it sends to the cartels has to be the most serious I've ever seen anyone send. Kudos.
Specially too since the declaration of the cartels as terrorist organizations, makes selling them guns a lot harder, which is something that Sheinbaum brought up in her conversation with Trump, I bet it will be painful for some unscrupulous money making individuals, but in the long run, for the greatest majority of people in all three countries, it will be positive, if the effort is maintained.
Not only that, the amount of money that drug trade generates for the CIA and their covert operations, like New Orleans, Las Vegas, and maybe even DC, will be impacted and that also has a lot of people probably very upset. Maybe this explains Trump's pace, he can't let those against him breathe and react, anyone who benefits from the immense trade across the border, not just drugs and guns, but child trafficking and so on... I mean those are billions of dollars worth of dark money every year, will feel this effort.
Some of these measures, remind me of Putin striking Ukraine and taking all the crap that was said about him, it was going to be unpopular anyway, but the net result can be very beneficial for a lot more people than we may realize, even a lot of the people buying into the propaganda against him.
Well, it's semantics perhaps, but I do think that aggression is the correct word. And I will perhaps end up distracting from the conversation and I don't mean to, but I meant aggression as Peter Levine would explain it, it's a determined approach towards a specific goal. But also his approach has been mainly to threaten with aggression to initiate negotiations.

the simple fact is that there exists a very small group of incredibly high function, insanely productive people. it’s the dirty secret of the world. this tiny tribe conceives, invents, and builds basically everything novel. all of it. they are not normal people. they are the 0.1%.
unless you have worked with them, around them, been a part of what they do, you simply lack a reference for what they are like. it’s essentially inconceivable how much such people can get done when they set their minds to it, how many rules they will disprove, break, or ignore and how many paradigms they will upend.
DC has never seen a mob of high function autist builders and fin warriors coalesce before.

i know A LOT of these people. this is what most of my friends are like. they learn for a living. they pull systems apart, see them as functional wholes, and work 16 hour days reading arcane 1000 page descriptions until they understand. then they pull the underwear of whoever thought they understood this material up over their heads in an atomic wedgie and take over a space. it’s just what you do if you’re a person like that. it’s compulsion. it’s like breathing.
these are 3 and 4 and 5 standard deviation people who have focus and talent in quantities they do not even have maps of in washington. i keep hearing about people i know a little getting tapped for transition teams and i’m like “ooooooh, that guy can read 100 CDS prospectuses in a weekend and remember it all” or “yeah, that guy thinks in algorithms and sleeps once a month. he could code when he was 6.”
“only an insider can tackle the swamp” is dead wrong.
it takes someone radically different to make a radical difference.
and i am giddy realizing that they are coming.
it does not matter that they do not know the terrain yet.
they will. they have 3 months to learn. that’s more than enough.

these are the same people who in 10 weeks using just sparse public data and twitter pulled the pants down on the whole edifice of public health and revealed them as fakes, phonies, and charlatans. then they re-wrote the discipline. it will never be the same. most of us had never even looked at epidemiology before. in a few months the “amateurs” eclipsed the experts and left them for dead.
we did this as outsiders and without any maps and with the very opposite of help.

Trump is beating them with their own weapons. In a higher sense, I have been asking myself the question: 4STS needs to create fear and panic to feed themselves and ensure their own survival. How will the tide turn now that they are becoming their own food source? As people's fear diminishes, they will eat each other. Psychopaths will always wipe themselves out in the end.
