Donald Trump’s immigration offensive will have a new face. The U.S. president announced Thursday that he has dismissed Kristi Noem from her post as secretary of Homeland Security. The Republican stated that Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma will take over the position at the head of the Department of Homeland Security starting March 31. The dismissal of the official — the first departure from Trump’s Cabinet — comes after the deaths of two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis at the hands of immigration agents and while the department remains unfunded.
Trump announced the decision in a post on his social media platform Truth Social: “I am pleased to announce that the highly respected United States senator from the great state of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin, will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), effective March 31, 2026,” he posted.
Trump added that Noem “will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida.”
The president then praised Mullin and paid tribute to himself. “Serving 10 years in the United States House of Representatives, and three in the Senate, Markwayne has done a tremendous job representing the wonderful people of Oklahoma, where I won all 77 out of 77 Counties — in 2016, 2020, and 2024!" he said in the post on Truth Social. “A MAGA warrior, and former undefeated professional MMA fighter, Markwayne truly gets along well with people, and knows the wisdom and courage required to advance our America First agenda.”
The message continued: “As the only Native American in the Senate, Markwayne is a fantastic advocate for our incredible Tribal communities. Markwayne will work tirelessly to keep our border secure, stop migrant crime, murderers, and other criminals from illegally entering our country, end the scourge of illegal drugs and, make America safe again. Markwayne will make a spectacular Secretary of Homeland Security.”
The change in leadership at the Department of Homeland Security — the agency that oversees U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the feared enforcement arm of the White House’s immigration campaign — comes after several months of controversy and criticism over Noem’s handling of the role. She has been responsible for enforcing the president’s controversial immigration policy, including his goal of carrying out the “largest deportation in history,” and violent migrant detentions.
Calls for Noem to be removed have been increasing since early January, when ICE agents shot and killed a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis who was protesting the massive immigration operation launched in the state of Minnesota, which involved more than 3,000 agents. The death of Renée Good, a 37-year-old mother and poet, sparked protests across the country. After the incident, Noem defended the actions of the agent involved, as did the rest of the Trump administration, and labeled Good a “domestic terrorist.”
Just two weeks later, agents from the Border Patrol, another immigration agency under the DHS, shot and killed a second U.S. citizen, Alex Pretti, also in Minneapolis. Although both incidents were recorded on video by witnesses in ways that challenged the official account, in Pretti’s case, Noem repeated the same accusation she made against Good and blamed the victim for his death.
Meanwhile, calls for her removal grew, gaining support not only from Democrats but also from some Republicans. According to national media reports, in recent weeks those calls began to come from within the Trump administration itself. According to a report by Politico, Trump’s “border czar,” Tom Homan, was one of People who pressured for Noem to be removed from the post. Trump sent Homan to Minneapolis last month to try to control the crisis that the tensions in the city over the two deaths had created for his government. On February 12, he announced that the immigration operation in Minnesota had concluded.
The president’s patience seems to have finally reached its limit this week. Noem appeared before the Senate on Tuesday. The hearing was controversial — not only because she refused to apologize for calling Good and Pretti “terrorists,” but also because she claimed that the president had approved television ads that spent millions of dollars promoting her nomination as DHS secretary. In statements to the national press, the White House denied that Trump had greenlit the ad campaign; in fact, they said Noem took advantage of her position to prepare for her future political career.
This looks to be a combination of the fallout of the Minneapolis shootings that led to the deaths of two US citizens (someone had to take the fall), and Trump pre-emptively hurting Noem's political ambitions. She probably has eyes on a presidential run in '28 and Trump wants Vance to take over so he won't tolerate any Republicans building up to challenge him.
And I can't help but agree with this assessment! A WHOLE lot of people are hating on Trump on X now. Long time supporters are falling away in droves. Plus, I saw a couple posts claiming Trump was a lot more involved with Epstein's mess than he wants anyone to know.
For a decent amount of time now I’ve wondered what has caused Trump to change so drastically from all the things he said to get elected. I think he went into getting re-elected with good intentions and heart, but has now basically turned into a monster and major and main conduit for evil and destruction on earth. Here are some things I have come up with - some points directly relating to other points:
Trump is pretty old, so maybe he has some serious cognitive impairment due to his age, diet and stress he has been under for years. He is not a reader and relies on media, such as Fox news, for his perspectives. He lives in a very controlled bubble and his huge ego doesn’t allow him the ability to accept contradictory perspectives, such as from people like Tucker Carlson, who said recently that he visited Trump and tried to convince him not to attack Iran. Trump then turns against these people (psychological splitting?) and goes on the attack.
He is surrounded by and heavily influenced by neocons and Israel first supporters and the likes of psycho, baby eating Lutnick. I’m sure they, which are basically psycho handlers – a lot of them Jewish, and all associated influence from intel agencies, etc have a very detailed psychological profile on Trump and know exactly how to play him, such as through his huge ego, and get him to do what they want. And all of these people and influences suffer from something ‘close’ to Dunning-Kruger. The last session really is a must read in terms of the discussion about the current war.

Trump and his family are under threat if he doesn’t do what Israel and the neocons want. This could include making it look like he is one of the elite baby eating psychos via Esptein documents and related things.

Ever since the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania and then his election some months later and the Quorom ‘program change’, the abductions have increased. He has also been vaxxed. I’d imagine they got whatever ‘special’ batch they needed in terms of getting nanotech and other things in Trump that makes him easier to control for 4D STS purposes.

Trump is firmly in a negative egregore related to him thinking he is something like a messiah and saving the world, when he is actually helping to bring great chaos and destroying it. This video yesterday with ‘religious’ people laying hands on him and praying over on him in the oval office brought this to mind. It could also be that Trump now has a very big feeding tube hooked up to him by 4D STS where all the prayers and support for him and also all the negative emotions from people created by his actions and decisions are flowing through him to feed 4D STS.

First thing I'd say is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I'd debate the idea that Trump started off good and then went bad. I think Trump knows how to sell, and in a sense he’s the one politician who really elevated himself off the fatigue a large part of society felt toward wokeness. He used that fatigue to propel himself to where he is now.
Ultimately, I think he’s part of the swamp, and that reveals itself in times of crisis. In his first term there was Operation Warp Speed. Now there’s Operation Epic Fury in his second term.
People keep making excuses for this guy the way a battered woman might make excuses for her abuser. Everyone else who isn’t caught up in the relationship can see it for what it is: abusive.
Making excuses and wishful thinking are one thing, seeing with clarity that his administration has done some positive things is another. Does the good outweigh the bad? Most likely not at this point, but it is a good idea not to fall into cognitive traps like black and white thinking.
