Turkish PM Erdogan: 'Incidents at Xinjiang are almost Genocide'

A few weeks ago Sott Focus published an article titled Sickening Hypocrisy regarding the protests in Iran and America's reaction to it. I think this particular piece falls into the same category. I knew this guy had real problems, but this time he gone too much.

All world knows you have a genocide in your history and you deny it, how can you accuse others for doing the same? If I am not mistaken the definition of the words, what China does is called ethnocide, destroying the culture of a minority and assimilating them. Funny thing is, Uigur Turks demand the exact same things that Kurds have demanded from Turkey, and it was denied for them.

Turkey commited ethnocide against Kurds in Turkey, and did what China does right now, but lets ignore all those facts and call these events genocide to get attention. Also Turkey claims the Uigur province was illegally occupied by China, but forgets how they invade Cyprus and called it "Cyprus Peace Operation". All in all, it is really sad to see people losing their lives in such an event, but the pathocratic system uses these events and hope to achieve desired ends with doublespeak and paramoralism.

My internet connection is limited right now, but if I have time in the future I will post a thread about Neo-Ottomanism approach that Turkey recently apply. The inventor of the system was made Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Turkey a few months ago and he is really active. He went to Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and many other countries in a few months. His name is Ahmet Davutoglu. It may also be interesting to note that one of the three administrator who gave the order of Armenian Genocide, Enver Pasha, died in Turkistan in an attempt to revolt the Turks in that region.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who reacted to Israel at Davos in an unconventional manner, declared incidents in Xinjiang-Uighur region of China "was almost genocide".

Yesterday Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement that, "Turkey has no intention to intervene China's internal affairs" and added that, "correlative efforts will continue to take forward developing relations between China and Turkey."

Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added that Uighurs form a "strong bridge of friendship" between Turkey and China.

But after that statement Erdogan told journalists at the G8 summit in L'Aquila, Italy "I used the word of wildness in my statement in Turkey and I am standing for this word because there is no any word to describe the killing and wounding of hundreds of people, it was almost genocide."
He added that "we have difficulty in understanding how China's leadership can remain a spectator in the face of these events."

Turkey Minister of Industry Nihat Ergun also reacted to the developments in Xinjiang-Uighur region of China by saying, "Organizing protests is not enough for reaction, we should react goods of that country too. We should take into consideration humanitarian values of that country."

After these recent events, a contrast and contradiction occurred among statements of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Erdogan and Ministry of Industry.
All these events occurred at a time of which Turkey is trying to strengthen its relations with china.

President Abdullah Gul visited China in June, accompanied by 120 businessmen to strengthen trade links. The total trade volume between Turkey and China reached more than $ 17 billion.

Good points Biomast. What I want to know is whether the recent riots in Xinjiang were premeditated from outside (namely by the World Uyghur Congress headed by Rebiya Kadeer in the US). The riots are being presented as a natural consequence of Han Chinese dominance in a region heavily populated by poorer Uighur Chinese of Turkish ethnicity. Yet China is a multi-ethnic country. Are the 'race riots' really the spontaneous reactions of a disenfranchised people? Or is there manipulation against the Chinese government at play, like we see in regard to Tibet?

Are there any Chinese forum members who can offer some insight to the situation?

It's amazing how, when you ask the question, answers come tumbling in :)

Bombshell: Bin Laden worked for US till 9/11

Eric Margolis, one of the best reporters in the West on matters of Central Asia, stated that the Uighurs in the training camps in Afghanistan up to 2001:

"were being trained by Bin Laden to go and fight the communist Chinese in Xinjiang, and this was not only with the knowledge, but with the support of the CIA, because they thought they might use them if war ever broke out with China."

US trained Uighur terrorists for eventuality of war with China

Eric Margolis said:
there were a group of Uighurs - Chinese muslims from Xinjiang province in Western China who were being trained by Bin Laden to go and fight the communist Chinese in Xinjiang, and this was not only with the knowledge, but with the support of the CIA, because they thought they might use them if war ever broke out with China... these people were paid by the CIA, they were armed by the US, these Chinese muslims from Xinjiang... The CIA was going to use them in the event of a war with China, or just to raise hell there, and they were trained and supported out of Afghanistan, some of them with Osama bin Laden's collaboration. The Americans were up to their ears with this.

Is Washington Playing a Deeper Game with China?

Engdahl said:
All indications are that the US Government, once more acting through its "private" Non-Governmental Organization, the NED, is massively intervening into the internal politics of China.

Allen Weinstein, who helped draft the legislation establishing NED, was quite candid when he said in a published interview in 1991: "A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA."

Is it mere coincidence that the Uyghur riots take place only days following the historic meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization?

Alptekin also founded the World Uyghur Congress at the same time, in 1991, while he was with the US Information Agency. The official mission of the USIA when Alptekin founded the World Uyghur Congress in 1991 was "to understand, inform, and influence foreign publics in promotion of the [USA] national interest..." Alptekin was the first president of WUC, and, according to the official WUC website, is a "close friend of the Dalai Lama."

Two different versions of the same events: The Chinese government and pictures of the riots indicate it was Uyghur riot and attacks on Han Chinese residents that resulted in deaths and destruction. French official reports put the blame on Chinese police "shooting indiscriminately." Significantly, the French AFP report relies on the NED-funded Uyghur American Association of Rebiya Kadeer for its information. The reader should judge if the AFP account might be motivated by a US geopolitical agenda, a deeper game from the Obama Administration towards China's economic future.

Some of China's most important oil and gas pipeline routes pass directly through Xinjiang province. As well, Russia and China are discussing major natural gas pipelines from eastern Siberia through Xinjiang into China.

The oil pipeline Atasu-Alashankou and the gas pipeline China-Central Asia, are instruments of strategic 'linkage' of central Asian countries to China's economy. That Eurasian cohesion from Russia to China across Central Asian countries is the geopolitical cohesion Washington most fears.

The Secret Team has been busy this summer; first Iran, then Honduras, now China.

Hi Kniall,

I was thinking the same thing before you posted, but there wasn't much evidence at that time. It would be great to hear a Chinese forum members opinion since we don't have the entire background information.

From where I stand, I find it curious that a few years ago, Rebiya Kadeer applied for a visa to come to Turkey, but the government-the same government we have today- refused the application and when she asked why, the embassy told her that she is listed as an unfavorable person. Probably government didn't want to make Chinese angry at the time. On the other hand, now, they granted her with a visa.

This isn't hearsay, I watched a live interview with her and she clearly said those things. There is an article in English which talks about this incident, but the newspaper is on the government's side, so they don't talk about "being unfavorable".

Kadeer, who said she was twice denied a Turkish visa, in applications in 2006 and 2007, was given clearance by none other than Erdoğan on Thursday. “If there is an application, we will issue a visa to her,” the prime minister said in response to a question from the press. Kadeer told Cihan that she did not know why she had not been granted a visa before but added that she was not bitter or resentful in any way. “I understand China exerts a lot of pressure on Turkey,” she said.

If you read the full article, you can see how she manipulates other people's conscious by saying “ I didn't believe Turkey would sell out the Uighurs, who have Turkish blood in their veins.” Or this one: "Kadeer said the situation in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, is comparable to and even worse than the situation in Palestine"

And how convenient it is that, when those incidents started, Turkey had a new foreign policy which is designed to extend its influence in the world:
