I tried to post my comment in:
"White House Plans to Launch Internet ID System,
Further Eroding Civil and Political Rights".

It refused to accept my comment and returned
a red error text: "Error posting Comment!".

Anyone else having this problem?
 
I just tried to leave a comment and got the same error message. Perhaps Mr. Scott is working on something. :)
 
This happened to me a week or so ago as well. I always make a point to copy/paste any forum or SOTT posts just before I hit the submit button, as I've experienced issues in both places a number of times over the years. You just never know when those gremlins may appear! ;)
 
Gremlins? Perhaps its the Klingons that are causing
mischief and Mr. Scott will soon have an engineering
solution and beam them off the Enterprise!

Yikes, Klingons, worse than I thought!!! Well, as long as it's not the Romulans ... or the Borg. LOL
 
Did you have a very long title for your comment? The limit for titles used to be 75 characters, and now it's only 35 characters due to the new site layout.

One of these days I'll get around to making it display an appropriate error message, and also save everything you typed in so you don't have to type it again!

Just FYI: I just added 3 periods (...) to the subject and body as a test and it gave me the error message. It is now working for me again (used the same 3 periods for a test).
 
That may have been it for my recent comment as well...I saved the message content, but I think I changed the subject unintentionally the second time around. Thanks Scott!

Ran into this again, and forgot the cause. After a few attempts, I came back here to remember the issue. Maybe a "quick" fix might be to amend the text that appears when one posts a comment, to simply read "Max Title: 35 Characters" or some such. Just an idea that popped in my head, fwiw. I'm not sure how easy it is to alter the text that appears when someone leaves a comment, so sorry if this is not an easier solution than changing the error message.

Also, in Google Chrome, hitting the back button did not retrieve the previously typed comment. However, if I hit the "reload/refresh" button *after* hitting back, it did bring back everything I typed! Found that by accident, wanted to share in case anyone reading this accidentally does this in the future, as I did.
