Yeah, I read it a few hours ago. Great job pulling it all together, Perceval!

From which here is your conclusion :

The tumult of political and military events over the past few years, including the current blood-letting in Syria and the sabre-rattling over Iran, is, in the final analysis, a distraction from a much greater threat to humanity than the power plays of a cabal of psychopaths. 'Climate change' is upon us (in case you haven't noticed). All of the objective evidence points to imminent and major 'earth changes' (including the prospect of a new ice age), the results and severity of which will make the survivors look back with some fondness on the last days of the American Empire. The days when there was still food in the supermarkets; when there was still a growing season; before the comet impacts, the earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions; when human life on earth was still, to some extent, viable.

By the way, isn't living also a kind of distraction from the threat that we are going to die ?

Life indeed can be lived as a distraction, especially when controlled by fear (threat). But that seems not to be the purpose, at least for people on this forum. There is life, there is death and the opportunity to learn - change - evolve - not to be distracted.

I really don´t get the point of your remark, beside maybe trying to be smart. I might be wrong. You quote Perceval but why? Perceval is pointing out the fearmongering and the distraction that is going on and you seem to extrapolate this in a not applicable way.

I wanted to emphasize the conclusion of Perceval's brilliant analysis on Syria and all around, and it was just a thought I had after reading it...

I suppose it depends on the kind of life you live. Ignorant and on your knees, or aware and on your feet. The point, I think, is not to survive, or live forever, but to not live a life of illusion. Many things, of which we as a species are not yet aware, may depend on the type of life we live.

That's my supposition too: many things may depend on the kind of life we live.

When you say 'to not live a life of illusion', I guess you also mean 'to know that we live a life of illusion'?
An illusion which is enhanced by all kinds of distractions, from the most common ones (usually to please our selves) to the most serious ones, like the 'distraction from a much greater threat to humanity than the power plays of a cabal of psychopaths'.
If everything is basically interdependent, we have to deal with all parts of the Big Game, being aware of the priorities, not in order to survive (selfishly) but to just play our role (altruistically)...

Thank you Perceval for your clarity
