Vaccination Is Not Immunization by Tim O'Shea

I just finished this book (2nd edition - copyrighted 2012) and it was an incredibly informative read.

ISBN: 1-929487-13-4

From the Foreword:
Whether or not to vaccinate is the most important decision a parent will make in the child's entire life.
Nothing is more delicate than the infant brain and the infant immune system, as they struggle into existence.
Vaccines have the undisputed ability to damage both.

This book is a meticulously referenced summary of the best, most reliable sources which call into question our vaccine policies.
As you will see, opposition to vaccines today is coming not primarily from the holistic arena, but rather from mainstream science, medicine, and law.
This book draws from that data.

Epilogue

Even though the table of contents lists chapters, they're more like sections, as the book reads more like a novel (very easy read despite some scientific language).

A few choice quotes:
It's no metaphor to say that the bloodstream of our children is the future of our civilization. Such an environment should be guarded.
This chapter proposes the following condition - before we put anything into that bloodstream, we should be quite sure
1. the child's health demands it
2. no chance of harm

Such common sense as this comes off as radical to the undiscriminating American public, who in general seem to have lost the ability for rational discourse and taking responsibility for their own children's well being.
(emphasis verbatim)

Many parents starting to read this will say - Oh I don't need to know any of that stuff. That's my doctor's job to know it. Two problems with that:
1. Many doctors don't know it.
2. Many doctors who do know don't vaccinate their own children. But they will vaccinate yours. (referenced to actual testimonies from MDs)

In this chapter you will be getting primarily the minority view, but one which has abundant support and documentation, and which anyone taking children in for shots needs to know about. When you get something you totally doubt, please do two things:
1. check for references
2. follow the money

RESERVOIRS FOR DISEASE

Be advised: this Orwellian buzzphrase is the product of some very sophisticated drug industry think-tank ruminations. Reservoirs for disease: the fantasy being that the unvaccinated are unprotected from disease and are therefore a collective breeding ground that threatens the vaccinated. Throughout this book the exact opposite will be proven again and again: it is the vaccinated children in this country whose immune systems are being systematically suppressed, whose inner milieu is a viable medium for opportunistic organisms, even though they are now receiving more vaccines than any group of children in the history of the world.
(emphasis verbatim)
From there, the author goes on to describe the history of vaccines, starting with smallpox and Edward Jenner, continuing with its spectacular failure in Prussia in the mid 1800's. Following that, the author goes into how the Germ Theory became so wide-spread and how Louis Pasteur got famous.

Contents of vaccines are discussed following the history lesson, explaining exactly what these are:
attenuated pathogens
toxoids
adjuvants
preservatives
excipients
And the difference between what is thought (hoped?) that vaccines do and what immunity is:
Medical thinking is that if the patient gets a minor case of the disease under the "controlled" conditions of vaccination, he will produce his own antibodies to the vaccine, which will confer lifetime immunity by remembering what the bad bug looks like the next time it shows up, and then neutralizing it.

But there's a little more to it than that.
...
First off, there is no general agreement that the vaccine-antibody paradigm is really the whole story of immunity. Researchers like Alan Phillips, founding director of Citizens for Health Care and Freedom, realize that
natural immunity is a complex phenomenon involving many organs and systems; it cannot be fully replicated by the artificial stimulation of antibody production.

After that, specific vaccines are discussed. The discussion gets interesting when peanut oil is mentioned as an adjuvant/excipient (initially given as an ingredient of penicillin injections - in the 1940s and 1950s).
As allergy to penicillin became common, it was recognized as a sensitivity to the excipient oils. To the present day a standard screening test in all clinics is always to ask a new patient about possible allergies to antibiotics. That's what the antibiotic allergy is - a sensitivity to the excipients.

By 1953 as many as 12% of the population was allergic to penicillin.
...
Only then, in the 1950s, did peanut allergy begin to occur, even though Americans had been eating peanuts for well over a century.
(emphasis verbatim)
This was an incredible light-bulb-moment for me (even though I don't seem to have any allergies). It really make sense, because:
The first study of peanut allergies was not undertaken until 1973. It was a study of peanut excipients in vaccines. Soon afterwards, as a result of that study, manufacturers were no longer required to disclose all the ingredients in vaccines. (my emphasis)
...
Why was peanut allergy so violent? The famous Maurice Hilleman found that even the most refined peanut oils still contained some traces of intact peanut proteins. (emphasis verbatim)
This was the reason doctors were directed to inject vaccines intramuscular rather than intravenous - a greater chance of absorption of intact proteins, less chance of reactions.
In other words, when you eat peanuts, you digest (destroy) the proteins - like fermenting and cooking certain lectins, soy proteins and casein. When you bypass the digestive system and inject them directly into the blood - all bets are off.

For the rest of the book the author does a wonderful (in my subjective opinion) job of showing exactly what the SOTT/DCM crew have been exposing recently: the corruption of science.

Another point, which struck a cord with me was that a clean and strong immune system is absolutely necessary for the survival of the species. When vaccines are introduced into the species, the DNA gets "diluted."
Just look around - are kids healthier or sicker today than they were 20 years ago? Smarter or dumber? More or less inhalers in school? Mark Lappe talks about natural selection, survival of the fittest, and how vaccines have produced an artificial detour in our ability to evolve as a race, to refine our DNA. If that's true, the long-term survivors will be
the unvaccinated
those who are immune to vaccines
(emphasis verbatim)
The only reference to Mark Leppe in the reference section is to his book Breakout: the evolving threat of drug-resistant disease.

In addition, I found the epilogue to be an independent (of this forum's and Laura's work, although I can't be 100% sure of that) confirmation of the prevalence of psychopathy in our society's "power elite":
This is not an anti-vaccine textbook. This book is in favor of any vaccines that have been independently tested and found to be absolutely effective, with no chance of harm to the recipient.

It's not that vaccines don't work, or that vaccines don't do anything. Vaccines certainly do have an effect on the immune system. And they might temporarily delay the onset of some diseases. But why would we want to delay traditional, mild childhood diseases that have always been part of human immune development?

As for vaccine effects, these occur in a random, unpredictable, haphazard, inconsistent fashion. Vaccines simply do not do what they are said to do. Experimental as they are, loaded with toxic adjuvants and attenuated pathogens, the primary effect of vaccines on the immune system must be described as immunomodulatory or immuno-suppressive.

This has little to do with conferring immunity or improving the child's overall health.

Maybe you're asking how can doctors, drug companies, and the government allow a vaccine program to continue that is without a doubt killing children, causing permanent injuries, and offering no proof of effectiveness?

That is a much larger question. To have any hope of its being answered we have to somehow come to the realization without hysteria or paranoia, through much study and research, of one unpleasant fact: man's enormous capacity for evil. And we have to confront some uncomfortable demons about human nature, the power of money, and the extent to which those in power will go in order to keep this river of gold flowing.

Jim Turner said it best: to force vaccines on an entire population of children when it is it known that some of them will be killed and some of them will be injured by doing so, but insisting that it's till good for the whole group is a bad moral policy.
(my emphasis)
Overall, I think this book should be on every parent's to-read list. If nothing else, then to simply provide a set of references for further study of the topic.

All the best!

Thanks for the summary, Piotrek.

I found this part interesting.

This book is in favor of any vaccines that have been independently tested and found to be absolutely effective, with no chance of harm to the recipient.

The question is: Are there any vaccines that fit this definition? I don't think so. The vaccine trails don't go on for very long -- 4-7 months seems to be the standard from what I've read. So, the general population is just serving as one big experimental group.

This is not an anti-vaccine textbook.

If anyone reads this book and does not take away the main idea that vaccines are a bad idea then something is off with them.

Thank you Piotrek. I've been interested in any info relating to vaccines as to are are they really safe or justified to pass along to my daughter with a 7 month old baby girl. I just emailed her a 3rd Kindle edition available from AmazonSmile. I didn't vaccinate my children until I felt forced to when they were school age. It's difficult to confront the system so I'm hoping the information that is now available will help her make educated decisions.
Thank you for posting.

Many states in the US have religious exemptions to vaccinations for children in public school, so it's something to keep in mind and look into when the school authorities try to make a show of force about it.
