Venezuela: Resistance or disintegration?

Just watched this interview that Jimmy Dore did with Anya Parampil regarding the siege that the Venezuelan embassy is undergoing in Washington DC

The U.S. is by International law standards, "lawless", it has become a rogue nation as far I can see. Honestly, I can understand why so many other countries hate the U.S. and call us "muricans" or whatever comes to mind.

Also, I found on Twitter by a WhiteHelmetsExposed tweet that Israel is also deeply involved in this whole Venezuelan coup and there is proof that the U.S. planned this at least as far back as 2018 in detail.

Just watched this interview that Jimmy Dore did with Anya Parampil regarding the siege that the Venezuelan embassy is undergoing in Washington DC
Well worth the watch.

Yeah, I was just going to post the same video here. It's so utterly idiotic how the US can time after time openly violate international laws. Here they're letting Venezuelan embassy in Washington DC to be blockaged and sieged by these pro-coup protesters, -who are also trying to break into the embassy-, clearly violating the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic relations:
Article 22. The premises of a diplomatic mission, such as an embassy, are inviolable and must not be entered by the host country except by permission of the head of the mission. Furthermore, the host country must protect the mission from intrusion or damage. The host country must never search the premises, nor seize its documents or property.

I found this thread tweet that talks about the possible scopes, conveniences of TIAR, (Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance), from a venezuelan opposition that want to use the brute force, interesting what is mentioned, even so.
THE QUESTION THAT NO ONE DARES TO ANSWER

1. Next, we will discuss the route to a military coalition. We will address the mysterious issue of the TIAR, also the increasingly named doctrine of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), and finally, we will refer to the option of the breakdown of the FAN.

2. As we have stated on other occasions, the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (TIAR) is an international agreement, essentially on military cooperation, which provides for the USE OF FORCE.

3. It is activated when any country of the American continent suffers any type of aggression or experiences any situation capable of endangering the security and peace of the continent.

4. Seventeen states are currently part of TIAR, including the United States, Brazil and Colombia. Venezuela was a party until the regime, for obvious reasons, expressed its willingness to withdraw in 2013.

5. EXPECTING international military aid out of compassion, or the responsibility of states to protect (R2P), is not the same as being able to DEMAND IT within the framework of an international treaty. A treaty makes it possible to demand compliance with international obligations.

6. The reincorporation of Venezuela to TIAR is very easy. All that is required is for the President @jguaido to sign this treaty, the @VE Assembly to ratify this will and the instrument of ratification to be communicated to the @OEA_official . In practice it could be done in hours.

7. WHY then Venezuela does not rejoin TIAR?

8. On March 29, we sent the Attorney General @ignandez a detailed report on the convenience of doing so. The Attorney General kindly promised to give us his comments. So far we have not received them.

9. So far no jurist, diplomat, deputy, politician, or "influencer" has dared to answer that question. Public opinion has focused on Art. 187.11 and R2P. However, these two instruments present obstacles that are not in the TIAR.

10. In effect, the objections that can be opposed to the application of Art. 187.11 cannot be transferred to TIAR, for the simple reason that the reincorporation of Venezuela to that Treaty does not depend on the will of third parties.

11. Reincorporation into TIAR only depends on the exclusive will of the legitimate authorities of Venezuela. No other state has to give its consent for Venezuela to re-enter that treaty. The conclusion of a treaty is a sovereign right.

12. As for R2P, it should be noted that it is not an international obligation. It is not provided for in any treaty. It is a doctrine developed within the framework of the UN, applicable for humanitarian reasons when a State does not protect its population.

13. That being the case, it is worth asking whether President Guaidó, as Head of State, together with the Assembly, is really unable to provide protection to the population? Wouldn't TIAR be a way of providing protection to the Venezuelan population?

14. The biggest obstacle to R2P is that military intervention under that doctrine would have to be authorized by the UN Security Council. And it is not difficult to imagine that this initiative would be blocked by China and Russia who have the right of veto.

15. The special feature of TIAR is that its decisions are taken by the Permanent Council of the OAS. Therefore, they are not exposed to the right of veto that China and Russia have in the UN Security Council.

16. Nor are TIAR decisions subject to the control of the US Democratic Party.

17. Finally, TIAR does not preclude further work on other options in parallel. Including the option on which the Interim Government has bet everything: the breakdown of the FAN. On the contrary, developing the TIAR option would contribute to the spontaneous break-up of the FAN.

18. In my humble opinion, the fact that Venezuela promotes, justifies and demands within TIAR, the formation of a military coalition, is much more heroic, patriotic and dignified than begging a gang of criminals on a daily basis.

19. But beyond that, to ask daily for the breakdown of the FAN, without the credible threat of the use of force, looks illusory and wrong for a triple reason:

(i) They are not begging military or career magistrates, but criminals. On 30 April, it was demonstrated how much the pawned word of a criminal is worth.

(ii) It was also clear that this option only seeks the exit of Maduro, and the exit of Maduro alone does not imply the eradication of the regime.

(iii) It is hardly credible that these criminals, by breaking their loyalty to their capo, will be loyal to democracy and justice. It is very difficult to understand how these criminals are expected to fight themselves and put an end to the criminal activities they themselves created.

20. The option of breaking the FAN is wrong, and if it is not, it does not justify not working in parallel with the TIAR option. It is no longer enough to say that the military option is on the table. It is time to justify it, develop it and demand it. TIAR shows us the way.

PS: Whoever tries to blackmail us, let's remind them that according to Art. 197 of the Constitution, deputies are obliged to maintain a permanent link with their electors, attending to their opinions and suggestions and keeping them informed of their administration and that of the Assembly.

To the invaders of our Embassy who comfortably defend the usurper regime, we have decided to give them some of the experience of living in Venezuela under Maduro's failed socialism. From now on they will have no electricity. Next step: your exit.

The Grayzone site has featured some excellent investigative reporting in the past. As an example, on Monday May 6th - they ran this article:

US State Department publishes, then deletes sadistic Venezuela hit list boasting of economic ruin
On April 24, six days before self-proclaimed Venezuelan “interim president” Juan Guaido’s attempt to violently overthrow Venezuela’s democratically elected government alongside a handful of military defectors, the U.S. State Department published a fact sheet that boasted of Washington’s central role in the ongoing coup attempt. After realizing the incriminating nature of its error, the State Department quickly acted to remove the page.

The Grayzone has obtained a full copy of the expunged report. The deleted page puts to bed any claims of Guaido’s independence from Washington, as the State Department emphasizes the fact that he “announced his interim presidency… in January” at the top of a section dedicated to breaking down “key outcomes” of U.S. efforts with regard to Venezuela.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Kimberly Breier recently took to Twitter to claim that “since he became acting president, Juan Guaido has given tangible results to the people of Venezuela.” Her tweet was accompanied with an infographic detailing alleged accomplishments of the powerless coup administration based on data compiled by the legally defunct National Assembly, the only governing body actually controlled by Guaido.

But the Venezuela fact sheet posted and then deleted days earlier by the State Department told a dramatically different story.

Read the entire expunged fact sheet here [PDF] and at the end of this article. (Article continues.)

~~~
The copy of the expunged report clearly shows the deceiving practices used by a Federal "tax supported" governing body, to misinform the public, to the true circumstances our own Government Officials are exercising to over throw a foreign Country. Sadly enough, it also brings to light - how disorganized, incompetent and mis-managed our State Department is? When I see a news article and statement like this - I always have to look for "supporting evidence" because it's no longer "a trusted source"! Generally, it's pure propaganda!
Is Bolton Steering Trump Into War with Iran?
Is Bolton Steering Trump Into War with Iran?
Last week, it was Venezuela in America’s gun sights.
“While a peaceful solution is desirable, military action is possible,” thundered Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “If that’s what is required, that’s what the United States will do.”
John Bolton tutored Vladimir Putin on the meaning of the Monroe Doctrine: “This is our hemisphere. It’s not where the Russians ought to be interfering.”
After Venezuela’s army decided not to rise up and overthrow Nicholas Maduro, by Sunday night, it was Iran that was in our gun sights.
Bolton ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln, its carrier battle group and a bomber force to the Mideast “to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”
What "attack" was Bolton talking about"?
According to Axios, Israel had alerted Bolton that an Iranian strike on US interests in Iraq was imminent.
So now, you have a clearer picture of who dictates U.S. Foreign Policy (Israel) - who Bolton takes direct orders from (Netanyahu) and in the chain of command (Pompeo) who exercises and promotes Israel's demands ... and they "use" Trump, our President, as "the Fall Guy"... so they have a steady stream of "Blame Trump and it's ALL - Russian interference" to satisfy the Washington clowns and media presstitutes.
Interesting report if true - it would provide further confirmation that Trump can't really be bothered with an invasion to Venezuela, but is largely influenced by his 'advisors' and for the most part lets them do as they please.
Trump's not too bright if he's upset at Bolton. All Bolton has ever done is clamor for more imperial war. Putting Bolton and Pompeo in charge and being upset that they do the only thing they know - create more war - makes Trump look clueless.
Agreed. Maybe someone should read that poem about the snake Trump read during his campaign back to him. What else did he expect of a warmongering snake when he put him in charge? Hugs and kisses and singing songs about international love around a campfire? Sweet Lord.
I do wonder how Bolton pitched himself for the job though. If his sales pitch was about ensuring peace and stability then maybe Trump should have asked how specifically Bolton was planning to achieve that. If Trump bought into the big picture vision without investigating the quality of the small level details of the plan then no wonder he went bankrupt so many times. As they say, the proverbial devil is in the details.
Trump is playing down military intervention and with Venezuelan lawmakers, who supported Guaido, losing immunity and running to Embassy's for protection, Guaido looks like he's on his own? Pence was running this show (Coup) but I'm not seeing any media reports from him? I don't think Pence can send in the Military without Trump's approval?
Caracas court orders the vice President of the National Assembly to be held in a military headquarters
CARACAS (AP) - A Caracas court ordered Friday that the vice president of the National Assembly, Edgar Zambrano, be held in a military unit.
Zambrano was arrested for the alleged crimes of "treason, conspiracy, civil rebellion, usurpation of functions, public instigation to the disobedience of the laws and continued hatred" and the military police headquarters was established as the site of his detention. the capital fort Tiuna, said the Supreme Court of Justice in a statement.
In the same way, the deprivation of freedom of the citizens Rosario Pedro, Abrahan Rodríguez, Martín Hernández and Martín Peña was ordered.
Zambrano's arrest and legal proceedings against nine other members of the National Assembly dealt a blow to the Venezuelan opposition, which has called for rallies across the country in a new challenge to President Nicolás Maduro.
The actions against the opponents are perceived by analysts as a "counterattack" by the government after the failed military uprising on April 30 led by opposition leader Juan Guaidó.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan opposition abroad asked the international community to condemn the arrest of Zambrano and the judicial proceedings against other legislators. Antonio Ecarri, ambassador in Spain of Guaidó, said that "indifference is not an option".
Zambrano's detention was rejected on Thursday by the European Union, 11 countries in the region that make up the Lima Group and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, who urged the Venezuelan authorities to release him and detain him. the attacks against the National Assembly and its members.
For his part, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Zambrano's arrest "is an unacceptable and illegal act." The United States warned that there would be "consequences" if it is not released immediately.
The National Assembly, which has an opposition majority, has not defined how it will be reorganized after the arrest of its vice president and the legal actions faced by more than a dozen deputies, some of whom have fled the country or taken refuge in embassies.
Zambrano, 63, was arrested Wednesday night by the political police when he was in his truck in front of the offices of his party, Acción Democrática, in northern Caracas.
The arrest of the congressman, who accompanied Guaidó in the failed military uprising, came a day after the ruling National Constituent Assembly withdrew parliamentary immunity to allow prosecution.
The same fate ran his fellow deputies Henry Ramos Allup, Luis Florido, José Simón Calzadilla, Américo De Grazia, Richard Blanco and Mariela Magallanes, who also withdrew their immunity.
Blanco took refuge in the Argentine embassy in Caracas, where he is a guest, while Magellan is in the residence of the Italian ambassador in the Venezuelan capital.
