Volcanoes Erupting All Over

Hawaii VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK - The eruption window was set to begin today, although the summit has been on a deflationary trend since Sunday's earthquakes.
(BIVN) – Hawaiʻi island awaits the start of episode 44 lava fountaining in the ongoing Kīlauea summit eruption, but a recent swarm of earthquakes may have delayed the event.

The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported on Sunday that the forecast window for episode 44 is April 6th to April 14th. That day, scientists noted a brief change to deflation at around 6 a.m. HST during a swarm of small earthquakes below Kīlauea summit between 1:50 a.m. to 7 a.m. HST.

At the time, the Observatory wrote:
Seismic tremor is continuous with frequent small, poorly-defined bursts possibly related to rise and fall of magma in the vents. Seventy-four small-magnitude earthquakes were recorded at the summit during the past day. Most were smaller than magnitude-2 and occurred between 1:50-7 a.m. this morning, at depths of 3.7-5 miles (6-8 km) below sea level. This activity does not appear to have had an effect on the episode 44 precursory activity, and HVO will continue to closely monitor it.

Since that time, deflation has continued. The Observatory is expected to issue another update today, providing their interpretation on how the deformation trend might impact the forecast window.

Lava flows were observed at the summit early Monday morning.

The USGS also issued a separate information statement on a stronger earthquake that occurred far from the summit area. At 11:41 a.m. HST on Sunday, a magnitude-3.9 earthquake occurred 2 miles east-northeast of Pāhala, at a depth of 2 miles below sea level. The earthquake had no apparent impact on either Mauna Loa or Kīlauea volcanoes.

“This earthquake is likely related to the seismic swarm under the Pāhala area, which has been going on since 2019,” the Observatory stated. “Earthquakes in this region have been observed at least as far back as the 1960s.”

The earthquake was not strong enough to cause damage or generate a tsunami threat.

Coming from him, it makes it sound like total BS and like an evidence-free zone. He doesn't have the technology nor expertise nor basic understanding to make such claims. He would do better recommending the pioneers' work.

The Volcano Alert Level for Kīlauea is now at WATCH, and the Aviation Color Code is at ORANGE.
(BIVN) – The Volcano Alert Level for Kīlauea on Hawaiʻi island has been raised, as the window for the next eruptive episode is now open.

Lava flows began overnight at the summit within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The precursory activity is building to high lava fountains; episode 45 in the ongoing eruption.

The activity prompted the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory to change the Alert Level for the volcano from ADVISORY to WATCH, and the Aviation Color Code from YELLOW to ORANGE.

Episode 45 is forecast to occur at any time between now and Sunday, April 26th. Scientists say precursory activity can continue for hours to days before the lava fountains begin.

Inflation has continued over the past 24 hours. Even when lava is not flowing from the vent, strong glow is consistently visible. Intense flames have been visible in the south vent, likely caused by the ignition of volcanic gases.

As of Tuesday morning, low-level seismic tremor continues. 15 small-magnitude earthquakes were recorded in Kīlauea summit region in the past 24 hours.

There have been no advisories from the National Weather Service ahead of the forecasted episode.

This map shows how strong, southerly winds during episode 44 on April 9th focused tephra in a northeast direction, resulting in the glassy material falling in parts of Volcano Village, and lighter ashfall reported as far away as Kaumana and Hakalau.

USGS: “This map shows the tephra fall associated with episode 44 of Kīlauea’s episodic summit eruption, on April 9, 2026. Tephra is a generic word for any material erupted by a volcano that travels through the air before landing on the ground. Most tephra fall from past lava fountaining episodes has landed in the closed area of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, southwest of the eruptive vents, with several instances of tephra fall documented in other communities on the island. During episode 44 on April 9, lava fountains from the north vent in Halemaʻumaʻu at the summit of Kīlauea reached up at 240 m (800 feet). Southerly winds blowing to the north-northeast resulted in tephra fall in a narrow corridor within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, on Highway 11, and on communities to the northeast within the Districts of Kaʻū, Puna, South Hilo, and North Hilo.”

The National Weather Service reports that winds near the eruptive vents will be light today and tomorrow, from a southerly direction during the day and northerly overnight and into the early morning hours.

Trade winds are expected to redevelop late Wednesday and strengthen Thursday and Friday, which would be beneficial for directing falling tephra away from the populated areas immediately surrounding the summit.

A LOT is happening right now in our energetic environment today April 23rd 2026. 1) Kilauea Volcano has erupted for the 45th time and the time period in-between eruptions recently has decreased significantly.2) A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck the New Madrid fault system, the strongest earthquake there since 2005, and concerns are growing that a large earthquake or multiple could strike the region like what happened in 1811-1812.3) Comet C/2025 R3 PANSTARRS has begun its flyby of the Earth in-between the Sun and Earth, and solar activity has increased dramatically as a result seemingly, with multiple large plasma explosions from one sunspot going out directly towards the comet. Multiple m-class flares have now occurred and the potential for even stronger solar flares and coronal mass ejections, and therefore severe space weather here on Earth, is increasing exponentially. HAWAIʻI VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK - The USGS Volcano Alert Level for Kīlauea remains at WATCH, and Aviation Color Code remains at ORANGE. Kīlauea eruption updates here: https://www.bigislandvideonews.com/ta...All images and video are courtesy the U.S. Geological
(BIVN) – Episode 45 in the ongoing eruption at the summit of Kīlauea began at 1:34 a.m. HST on Thursday morning.

The USGS Volcano Alert Level for Kīlauea remains at WATCH, and Aviation Color Code remains at ORANGE.

National Weather Service issued an ashfall advisory for downwind communities in Kaʻū. Winds are blowing from the north and pushing the plume to the south at low altitudes and to the southwest at higher altitudes.

No significant tephra fallout has been reported at visitor areas of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park or on county roads.

North vent fountains reached 1,000 feet (300 m) just before 3 a.m., with minimal lava activity at the south vent.

The Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense reported Thursday morning that no roads are being impacted by the activity, and Highway 11 is open.

“Drive with caution as there will be congestion along the roadways in the Volcano area,” the Civil Defense stated.
