Waterboy Scores First Touchdown

The Living Force
So much in the news these days, most of it really, is enough to sicken your stomach.
But there is still hope, because there are still good people out there.
Here's an example that you don't see every day.
.......................................................

A Wisconsin high school's water boy finally got the chance he'd been waiting for Friday night.

Senior Noah VanVooren, who has Down Syndrome, has been serving up Gatorade on the sidelines for years. But he was finally able to put on pads and a helmet and take the field. "It feels pretty good," said VanVooren. I am a big senior now. I'm so happy. My parents are here today and we have a big night tonight."

His teammates said they wanted to repay him. So as the clock ticked down in the 4th quarter, the quarter back tossed VanVooren the ball, which he ran all the way to the end zone. "It was great! I scored a touchdown," said VanVooren.

:perfect: :cheer:

So nice to see! I love how supportive all of those teens were of him and how they made sure he felt part of the team. Most kids in our world would grow up to be wonderful contributing members of society if we had a system that encouraged and supported it- which this video proves. Too bad that system has been co-opted.

You're right Lisa, there isn't much to feel optimistic about these days but that video made my humanity sing with pride. i'll take what I can get! Thank you for the lovely example and the balance it provided.

Thanks, Lisa, for sharing this. It really is a beautiful thing to see the camaraderie and compassion that both teams, and the community, gave this boy. A truly wonderful gift.

What a beautiful memory those football players gave to that young man. I had to watch the video more than once. Noah's words said it all: "I'm so happy!" It was a wonderful moment to witness. I can only imagine what it must have been like for his parents to watch that moment unfold......the joy!

Great share!!!

Thanks for sharing this. :D

My sister has Down Syndrome, and this story just made my day. It is great to see him being supported instead of bullied or teased.
