Wave Series Books Compared to Online Version

Can anyone recommend if one ought to purchase the Wave series if funds are very limited? As I read through the 4/16/07 "signs economic commentary", I began thinking that eventually those of us here in the U.S. (especially who are not even middle class) may not have much time left to purchase the most important books we need. So, for any of those who have read the book version of "The Wave", I was wondering if this gives a greater understanding compared to the online version. I want to try and get through as many of the recommended readings as possible and this advice would help those with limited funds to see where it is best to invest in. Comments would be greatly valued. :)

I have read both the online and the book versions of the Wave. Yes, the book version is more organized and has some extra material. However, if your fund is very limited, I would recommend to go with the online version. Hkoehli posted a recommended list for those with limited fund here
http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=4718.msg31664#msg31664

For one just starting out in the Work, I found the books on psychology especially valuable.

We put the Wave in book form for people who have trouble reading online or who wish to have a copy in the event they no longer have internet connection. The plan is to include much of the Adventure Series as the continuation of the Wave (excluding the material that is already in the early sections of the Wave) and adding a final volume that wraps everything up.

Thanks for the info. No longer having a connection has crossed my mind and if possible in the near future purchasing the books may be a wise decision to share the information with others.

I'm reading and re-reading the cassiopaea material for few years now and I find it easier to read on paper rather than surfing through webpages. I'm a student without resources in a foreign contry and I managed however to purchase some books and some ebooks. I can tell that personally I do not regret at all and that I am planning to make some other buyings in the next days because the prices are well under what it should compare to the quality of the material.

After recently purchasing them, I certainly agree that they are well worth the money for anyone else who may be considering. As I am reading, I am finding so many things that I did not get (or did not hold onto) the first time around. I think part of the reason is because I was reading too fast (and not absorbing) as the computer screen would hurt my eyes. The other part is that I am starting to become more familiar with the concepts after reading ISOTM, Gnosis I & II, Castaneda series, and a few others. Thanks for all the help. :)

Hi I am wondering which online chapters of the Wave/Adventure Series correspond to each printed Wave book 1-8? Thanks. :)

Hello Masamune let me quote something from another topic, maybe it clarifes and answers your question:

Online chapters vs. book chapters of The Wave

Data said:
The Wave books 1-4 contain chapters 1-33. This also corresponds to the online version. But after chapter 33, online version and book version differ. I didn't find online chapters 34 et seq. in The Wave books 1-6. Will they be included in a future printed volume of The Wave?

The rest of the online material will continue in book 8. Book 7 will complete the Adventures material.

That means chapter 1-33 can be found in the WAVE BOOKS 1-4, WAVE BOOK 5-7 contain all chapters of the ADVENTURE SERIES and WAVE BOOK 8, ends the online WAVE chapters from 34-42.

Hi Gawan, I was wondering which online chapters were in each wave book exactly. Such as Book One - ch. 1-8 Book Two ch. 9-17, etc. So if someone had read up to ch. 19 online and wanted to buy the next chapters in book form they would know which book to buy.

There is new information in each of the published Wave volumes, so eventually you may want to have all of them in book form.

Don't have them in front of me, but if someone else hasn't provided the answer, I'll get 'em tomorrow.

Okay Masamune, so I just gave you a really rough idea. :(

And as Galahad stated there are some differences in the printed versions compared to the online books, here is one example:

Data said:
Book 1 of The Wave contains even more Material than the online-version:

* 237 additional pages as introductory chapters (Foreword, Authors Letter to the Reader, Note to the Reader on the subject of Aliens and UFOs, Autobiographical Background)
* 485 pages in total

[...]

On the other hand this is still not answering your question, so here we go:

  • [o]Book 1
    ch. 1-7
with Foreword, Authors Letter to the Reader, Note to the Reader on the subject of Aliens and UFOs, Autobiographical Background

    [o]Book 2
    ch. 8-20

    Book 3
    ch. 21-28
with the additional sub-ch. by Joe Quinn: Cult-ivatating Terror

    [o]Book 4
    ch. 29-33

[o]Book 5 beginning of the adventure series
    ch. 34-47

    [o]Book6
    ch. 48-54
    with Appendix A and B

Book 7 I don't own myself and book 8 is not printed yet, but should contain the last chapters of the wave series as stated and from ch. 70-78

We are getting the Wave books ready for another incarnation in the English editions, with new artwork, and some cosmetic updates. Wave 1 will no longer include the autobiographical material found in High Strangeness, which basically serves as a "Wave 0" of sorts. Instead, it will start as the online edition starts, and include chapters 1 to 9. Wave 2 will include an intro which summarizes the main concepts of Wave 1 for readers who pick up the book without having read Wave 1 (the other books will include similar introductory material).

When reading the book versions, I found that some of the info from the Wave and Adventures had been brought together when appropriate, so that, if something in the adventures series was applicable at a certain point in the wave, it was included then, instead of later.

There is also the biographical part in book 1, which approaching infinity mentions, which is basically the info that Laura gave us in the Knowledge and Being video (haven't read high strangeness yet).

Then, some topics are expanded, some paragraphs reworded, there are some pictures. The books are like a revised, "second edition", which I think would benefit newbies better than the online version.

Whenever I need to refer to the text's, I always use the books now.

Beauty ! With so much to read I find it difficult to re-read books that I've read already, but am keen to read new edition (like High Strangeness).
Any plans for another incarnation of Secret History ?

No immediate plans. But the future is open!
