Wellness clinic opening

My son and daughter in law are opening a wellness clinic in his town. The website is almost finished and he should be getting his keys next month to fit out the premises.

They are including the NO treatment, hyperbaric sitting hard chamber, cryogenic chamber, cold bath therapy, sauna & a couple others I can't think of right now.

The hyperbaric chamber they are planning to purchase is a 1.3 at a cost of AU$77 K. They won't purchase from china because there are no payment options suitable in time for receiving the units for the clinic opening, in October, I think. Now, I don't understand very much about these contraptions except that I'm wandering if it this is a little too expensive for such a unit. Does anyone here have thoughts or relevant input on this point?

I wasn't sure about posting this in our existing hyperbaric thread because it has a sort of personal note and I did't want it to be noise or hijacking of the thread. If mods think it should be there then please move my post if appropriate.

Hi stellar,

That sounds like a very nice endeavor, I do hope it all goes smoothly and that it's successful! Regarding costs of the HB chambers available, I think that thread is probably the best source of information from others and to ask other's opinion about it.

That isn't to say that this thread should be merged with that one, I think your clinic could have its own thread as it deals with a separate announcement. At least IMO.

Best of luck to your son and daughter in law.

Thanks, Alejo.
Would it be appropriate to direct them to this forum as guests to look at the thread for themselves? I don't really feel like copy pasting bits of information in emails as they know better what they are looking for and what questions to ask.

It might be the easiest i.e., here is a thread with a whole lot of research on it that might help you, which would save you the copy/paste and they can read what they read.

Join with Alejo in wishing all the best to your family going forward with this new endeavor.

Do you mean 77 THOUSAND Aus. dollars?? That's about 50k USD. If so, that's an OUTRAGEOUS price for a 1.3ATA chamber. If it's a soft shell, they can be bought from China for about 5kUSD, i.e. one TENTH of the price quoted.

Yes, way too much. Even a hard shell, 1.5-2.0 ata is around 20K USD. Is there some reason they are only getting 1.3 ata?

Yes. I know. I did my best to keep a straight face. I'm just waiting to hear from them as to why only the 1.3ATA. Possibly something to do with liability and approval but I kind of missed that bit once I heard the price.

They want the sitting chamber to accomodate those who are not able to climb in to lay down, although IMO, a hard shell would not pose such a problem. I don't want to interfere but I did say I think they are being had if they don't shop around some more.

Wow that is a lot in Aussie dollars, stellar. From the pricing I see on the HBOT thread, it’s about AUD $8-$10k. Have they shopped around to see if they can get a unit any cheaper elsewhere? The last picture in your post just above isn’t loading for me, so I’m not sure how that compares in price. With the other equipment and the clinic fit out, they might be looking at a fair amount in start-up costs, so hopefully they have a good business plan and good networks/referral pathways to draw a good, steady clientele.

I wish them all the best with their venture!

All the best in their new endeavor! Are they in the medical profession to begin with? I know here it would be impossible to do without being a doctor or a nurse first, but maybe n your country it's not an issue. I hope they help lots of people.

My son is a naturopath. He has had a few years in mental health and wants to return to his passion. DIL has some naturopathy studies under her belt but paused to have kids (3 🤔 ). She used to be a radiotherapist but that was years ago and the studied accounting. They seem to have a great business plan and a healthy list of clientele waiting.
I just think they've missed the mark on this one choice; by a mile. Heck, if it's ambiance they want, surely they can just add blue lights to the room and some fluffy pillows.:-/
It's not decided yet but I hope they come around to their senses.

Ok, so it's a hard shell sitting type, and a newer design, but they should be aware that by buying from an Australian reseller, they are literally paying twice the price that that same unit can be bought for from China. That chamber is NOT made in Australia, it's made in China, and the Chinese manufacturer is selling to that Oz company who are then adding about 30K AUS $$ to the purchase price.

You should send them this link for the same hard shell sitting type but with 2.0ATA, and tell them to ask for a price. I think they'll be surprised.

I totally agree and I have passed on the link. Hopefully it clicks. Thanks, Joe.

I should think so, specially given some of the feedback on the pricing of it. Not sure if they know of your place in the forum, but either way it would be helpful, if they don't you can simply say something like.. "oh I found a forum where people discuss prices, and details about the HB chamber, it might help you out with your decision making process..." and leave it at that.

It would be similar if they were looking to buy a car for instance, forums are where people discuss their experiences and workarounds so, I think it would help them either way. my 2 cents
