Fever Ray / "Keep the Streets Empty for Me"
--------------------------------------------------------

I LOVE Fever Ray! The whole album is great, but that's probably my favourite song. Here's the link to the song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWFb5z3kUSQ

Here's another one of my favourites from the same artist -

dugdeep,

some of the remixes are also pretty..
and i enjoy the tribal / star-warseque quality of the costumes and images from karin dreijer's photoshoots for fever-ray.
for me the music evokes a sense of calm-mystery.

I'm listening to:

Parallel Lives / Róisín Murphy

My ring kept him on, been learning fast
I just got you wrong, it's not built to last, it's not built to last
Time keeps on tripping on, though I learn my lessons fast
And it was time for me to cut and run
And if I ever do the past, you're not the only one, we're living

Parallel lives
Oh, you're not the only one
We're so entwined to lose it
To the passing of time
Oh, we came undone
We came untied, we came untied

We live separate lives, can't even organise
One more meeting of minds ain't gonna make it right, no
There's more humanity in just letting it be now
'Cause I can't seem to justify when we're living separate dreams
Have we forgotten love, we're lost in

Parallel lives
Oh, you're not the only one
We're so entwined to lose it
To the passing of time
Oh, we came undone
We came untied, we came untied

Parallel lives
Oh, you're not the only one
We're so entwined to choose it
To the passing of time
Oh, we came undone
We came untied, we came untied

Are we chose to give it
Are we chose to live it, our separate lives?
Got too close to heaven
But are we too driven in a parallel light?
All because we chose to live it
Are chose to give in our separate lives?
Got too close to heaven
Well, are we too driven in a parallel light?
What were we destined for, to live in

Parallel lives
Oh, you're not the only one
We're so entwined to lose it
To the passing of time
Oh, we came undone
We came untied, we came untied

Parallel lives
Oh, you're not the only one
We're so entwined to choose it
To the passing of time
Oh, we came undone
We came untied, we came untied

The song seemed to have gotten stuck in my head.

Enya - "Book of Days"

One day, one night, one moment,
my dreams could be, tomorrow.
One step, one fall, one falter,
east or west, over earth or by ocean.
One way to be my journey,
this way could be my Book of Days.

Ó lá go lá, mo thuras,
an bealach fada romham.
Ó oíche go hoíche, mo thuras,
na scéalta nach mbeidh a choích.

No day, no night, no moment,
can hold me back from trying.
I'll fly, I'll fall, I'll falter
I'll find my day may be, Far and Away.
Far and Away.

One day, one night, one moment,
with a dream to believe in.
One step, one fall, one falter,
find a new earth across a wide ocean.
This way became my journey,
this day ends together, Far and Away.
This day ends together, Far and Away.
Far and Away.

Lyrics (Original Gaelic):
Ó lá go lá, mo thuras,
An bealach fada romham.
Ó oíche go hoíche, mo thuras,
na scéalta na mbeidh a choích.

Translation:
From day to day, my journey,
The long pilgrimage before me.
From night to night, my journey,
The stories that will never be again.

"Virginia" / Tori Amos
--------------------------

in the Lush Virginia hills
they kept her as long as they could
cause they knew when the white brother found
white shell beads wrapped around her
skin - a life giving river - Her body open
as will his hand
and with a "goodbye" there she goes

she may betray
all that she loves
and even wait for
their savior to come
and in some things,
maybe he'll be right
but as always
The thing that he loves
he will change from her
sunwise to clockwise
to soul trading
still she'll lay down her body
covering him all the same

so hundreds of years go by
(the red road carved up by sharp knife)
She's a girl out working her Trade
and she loses a little each day
to ghetto pimps and presidents
who try and arouse her turquoise serpents
she can't recall what they represent
and when you ask, she won't know

she will betray
all that she loves
and even wait for
their savior to come
and in some things,
maybe he'll be right
but as always
the thing that he loves
he will change from her
sunwise to clockwise
to soul trading
still she'll lay down her body
covering him all the same

oh Virginia do you remember
when the land held your hand
oh Virginia she will let you back in
oh Virginia you can't remember your name

I am beginning to really like Avenged Sevenfold, this song made me feel like something I picked up in the Tickle Me section under Origin of Certain sayings posted by: Treesparrow

"> When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive.
>
> So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell.
>
> Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift.) to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be,
>
> “saved by the bell” or was "considered a dead ringer”."

I'm ringin' the bell! Someone must be sleeping on the "graveyard shift" :)
