What are you listening to?

I want to share with you a Russian folk song "In the field a birch was standing" (in attachment) in rock version by Russian showman Alexander Pushnoi and his friends from Ukrainian band "Dzhankoi brothers".

I also add a video where Alexander tells how to play this song (it is in Russian lang)

that's cool, he's got a great rock voice :headbanger: I watched the youtube tutorial too, even though I couldn't understand as I can't speak Russian, I play guitar so, it was fun to play along!

thanks for sharing :cool2:

I find in Devin Townsed lyrics more than emotional feelings, i think he write about esoteric things (that is what i think)

this is a lyric from the last album:

Fallout

As we're born to ride alone
Never to return
Cry unfair if you want
So we grow in the ways we were,
...To the way we are
Fallout.

You're on your own
You're all, you're always home
And we fall now.

As we live to right the wrongs
Never to return, then the truth hits you hard.
So we've grown from the ways we were, to the ways we are
Fallout.

You're on your own
You're all, you're always home
And we fall now.

If you could say, anything you wanted...
What would you say?

I'd tell you all:
We are young, at the end of this cycle.
And there may be no rest even when we are done.

That's when you're feeling empowered
You'll trade your fear in for power
If we knew what came tomorrow
There'd be no time for the sorrow.

And created a character called "Ziltoid" a being of the 4th dimension (density?) here I leave a letter to read

Deathray

People of earth!
We are your poozonian overlords!
You cannot run...
Resistance is futile!

Hand over your coffee!
And all I'll need to see is all you knell and cry
You stand before them now, and now's the you die
Threw away your number!
Threw away your name...
Half a word of warning you're conforming all the same!

And now I see you running for your fetid lives
You've been the ones before and now you stand behind!

Half of you are eating
Half of you abstain!
Tear away your motive throw your goddess on the flame!
Half of you are evil,
Half of you divine!
So now submit to us and all of you in line

Don't reach out, no refunds everybody takes!
Show me your own resource, intergalactic shake!
No returns, no answers, everybody pays!
Show me your own resource, intergalactic deathray!

Poozers take aim and fire!
All for their queens desire!

Hallowed be thy number
Guaranteed we die!
Everyone if fearing it but no one wants to say...

Half the world is sleeping,
The other half's away
Welcome to the show, my friends...
Taste of her deathray!

Don't reach out, no refunds everybody takes!
Show me your own resource, intergalactic shake!
No returns, no answers, everybody pays!
Show me your own resource, intergalactic deathray!

Yea, humans... do you feel the groove?..
...infinite void of infinite parallels, into your mind!

No returns, no answers, everybody pays!
Show me your own resource, intergalactic deathray!

the most fascinating is that the songs are created from a "theatrical" way therefore have continuity between song and song. You can search on youtube some songs, however, I leave a link with the lyrics on this album

I was going to post this one Gaby!

Such a beautiful song, isn't it?

I'll copy the lyrics here:

Album: A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Year: 1987
Music: Gilmour

--- LYRICS ---

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
"Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away"

It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it's shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?

Who holds the money? Who holds the need?
Who holds the strings of misery or the purse of greed?
And the gunmen reap while the gangsters sow
And law is cheap when the smugglers go

(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time
(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time

While I have a life to live
Then I have no life to give
(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time

In sun kissed rooms, in city slums
Minds are restless till the airmail comes
From the forest floor to the western mind
A chat show topic on a party line

And the hardest love of all is to forgive
As the world comes tumbling down

(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time
(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time

While I have a life to live
Then I have no life to give
(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time

Let all the rain come down on blind desire
And like a thundercloud that holds a prairie fire

I hear the blame and I see the cause
A stronger voice and a stronger law
But buyers buy and sellers sell
Public consumption of a private hell

(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time
(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time

While I have a life to live
Then I have no life to give
(Give us peace)
They're gonna give us peace in our time

(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time
(Give us peace)
Give us peace in our time

While I have a life to live
Then I have no life to give
(Give us peace)
Yeah, give us peace in our time

The song is amazing, by one of my favorite composers Max Richter.
The lyrics were mixed in and match so well. I'm usually not a fan of mixes.

Dinah Washington – This Bitter Earth Lyrics

This bitter earth
What fruit it bears
What good is love
That no one shares?
And if my life is like the dust
That hides the glow of a rose
What good am I?
Heaven only knows

This bitter earth
Can it be so cold?
Today you're young
Too soon your old
But while a voice
Within me cries
I'm sure someone
May answer my call
And this bitter earth
May not be so bitter after all

This song amazes me.
The rush of emotion that floods through me with the music after the words "shall we dance" is so strong that it takes me a little while to recompose myself after listening to the song. (the body has turned into gel)

Absolutely beautiful, though sad..
