Wow! This is too much fun!

and now for something different, Rodrigo y Gabriela - Full Performance (Live on KEXP)

Those two above are on my list already and your selection is one of their best I think. You being "a film maker, photographer and musician" I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Here is another guitarist I think is a real inspiration and I play a version of this song on a Taylor nylon string (in amateur fashion):

Oh boy, Mark Knopfler! I'm listening to him for the last two months and I can't get enough of his voice and guitar... he is so good!

Yup. I know. I listen to him all the time and love EmmyLou too!

I was listening to Mark Knopfler all last year long, this one in particular:

Because it echoed exactly my emotions about the Ukrainian mess. And also Joan Baez' version of it:

But now I prefer this one. :)

Yeah I have to say Tommy is one hell of a guitarist, I think most of us are amateurs compared to him ;) I've only really just got back into making music again after a bit of a hiatus, really enjoying it, letting it flow, and really, IMO, that's what it's all about, it doesn't matter how "good" we are at it, just as long as we can pour something of ourselves into it.

Two friends and I did this song for my senior talent show and won first place by crowd appreciation in 1981.

Minus the strange interlude at the end. I played the drum part.

Could only stand about a minute of that.

I too listen to Mark Knopfler and Tommy Emmanuel; both have unique voices on their instruments, expresses themselves through their music, and are examples of dignity and how to be an ambassador for pure music with little time for B.S.
I once saw a review of a live show with Mark Knopfler, where the reviewer complained about the lack of a light show and found the playing "too docile".

It goes to show that for some/most people, the primary objective for going to a concert is to look for something to sweep them off their feet, a quick kick.

To actually play and express yourself purely thorugh the music is deemed to be of little entertainment value, it seems. Tommy Emmanuel is incredible, and shows humour and warmth in his gigs without being the slightest bit arrogant or proud of his amazing playing. It is humbling and inspiring to behold! :)
