What are you listening to?

When I was a kid, tall as three apples,
I used to talk a lot to be a man...
I said, I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW...

It was the beginning, it was spring...
But when I turned 18.
I said, I KNOW, that's it, this time I KNOW.

And today, on the days that I turn around...
I'm looking at the ground where I still walked the same distance
And I still don't know how it turns out!

At about 25, I knew everything: love, roses, life, money
Hold on, love! I've been all over it!

And fortunately, like my friends, I hadn't eaten all my bread:
In the middle of my life, I still learned.
What I've learned, it can be summed up in three or four words:

"The day someone loves you, it's a beautiful day,
I can't say it better, it's a beautiful day!

That's still what amazes me about life,
I'm in the fall of my life.
We forget so many nights of sadness...
But never a morning of tenderness!

All my youth, I wanted to say I KNOW
Only, the more I looked, the less I knew...

There's 60 strokes that have struck the clock
I'm still at my window, watching, wondering...

Now I KNOW, I KNOW THAT WE NEVER KNOW!

Life, love, money, friends and roses...
You never know the noise or the color of things...
That's all I know! But this I KNOW... !

"Looking For Today"

It's complete but obsolete
All tomorrow's become yesterday
In demand but second hand
It's been heard before you even play

Up to date but came too late
Better get yourself another name
You're so right but overnight
You're the one who has to take the blame

Everyone just gets on top of you
The pain begins to eat your pride
You can't believe in anything you knew
When was the last time that you cried

Don't delay you're in today
But tomorrow is another dream
Sunday's star is Monday's scar
Out of date before you're even seen

At the top so quick to flop
You're so new but rotting in decay
Like butterfly so quick to die
But you're only looking for today

Everyone just gets on top of you
The pain begins to eat your pride
You can't believe in anything you knew
When was the last time that you cried
Looking for today

Glamour trip so soon to slip
Easy come but oh how quick it goes
Ten foot tall but what to fall
Hard to open yet so easy to close
Front page news but so abused
You just want to hide yourself away
Over-paid, but soon you fade
Because you're only looking for today
Looking for today

Lots of great music here

I've seen Ernie Peniston many times and have been thoroughly trounced at cricket (darts) by the band members once or twice. :-D

and The Budos Band is another gem you may not have heard of...
Never heard of the Budos Band but a gem indeed! They smoke! Great jazz sound- Thank you!!!

The Taste of Love

English Translation:
My love is twofold
One a mirror, one a shadow
One seen, the other unseen
One untamed, the other wise

Let me burn in the flames (3x)
If I love you out of the fear of hell
Let me burn in the flames (3x)
If I love you out of the promise of paradise

The lover has lost his heart
To the wine bearer, to the consoler
To the skeptic, to the believer
To the witness, to the victim
To this world, to that veil of light (2x)

Let me burn in the flames (3x)
If I love you out of the fear of hell
Let me burn in the flames (3x)
If I love you out of the promise of paradise

He who has partaken of the taste of love
Can no longer reveal the truth
For he has abandoned life for the heart (2x)

Some quotes below that I found on the meanings/interpretations of the name of the band:

Quote:
I also like it when they said "everyone's been two steps from Hell in one way or another", and I can REALLY relate to that, too: suffering from terrible problems in the past and so on, you know, the type of problems (life's trials/tests) that can make someone feel like they are in hell; you know when life is REALLY testing you, subjecting you from harsh situations and pressure/friction in order to "polish" you into a beautiful diamond if you were able to overcome the challenge.

And on top of that, I found their music to be really inspiring, I mean, just from most, if not all, of the titles in their works alone, the first impression I get is that it's meant to inspire one to be brave, to keep moving, to be courageous, and all the other virtues I could mention; virtues that one must cultivate in order to overcome life's challenges ("Hell"), thereby making one emerge two steps from "Hell".

Quote:
"we're all two steps from Hell at some point, but we can still choose to do the right thing."
