Wow, the 777th page of this thread !
And today, the summer solstice in northern hemisphere, is in France "la fête de la musique" (the day of music celebration ?).
Rather than the different kind of "noises" that are played during this pagan feast here in France, I'm currently listening to the first album of the group Angels of Venice (harp, flute and cello), because it's a nice "soft" music, good as a background while reading.
For instance, the first piece of this album is their version of the famous Pachelbel's canon :
A couple of sensitive songs by the old UK band Free. As amazing as it may sound, but these guys were only in their late teens when they wrote these songs. Different times I guess, these guys grew up quickly.
When The Music's Over, by that very unique band, The Doors. Taken from their live gig in the Isle of Wight in 1970. No messing about from Jim here, he's on his best behaviour, probably not drinking.
When I was a schoolkid, REM were the most interesting band around. At that point in my life I grew tired of hard rock cliches and wanted something more. I could choose literally dozens of songs but these ones stand out in my mind. Between 1983 and 1992 they were pretty much peerless.
